  1. Seems that the Koch brothers excess of greed may have gotten them in hot water with some supporters of the GOP. http://www.njdc.org/media/entry/kochiran100311 "WASHINGTON, DC- Following the disturbing revelations reported in today’s Bloomberg article “Koch Brothers Flout Law With Secret Iran Sales”-and the fact that the company’s political action committee gave $50,000 to Texas Governor Rick Perry and donated to Representative Michele Bachmann in the past as well-the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) today called upon all Republican presidential candidates as well as the GOP national party committees to return any past Koch Brothers donations immediately, and directly address exactly where they stand on trading with Iran. “It’s shocking, dangerous and hypocritical in the extreme for the Republican Party and national GOP figures to be courting the Koch Brothers and their money while those funds were obtained in part by ‘thwarting a U.S. trade ban’ on Iran, to use Bloomberg’s words,” said NJDC President and CEO David A. Harris. “U.S. companies have been forbidden from selling to Iran since 1995, and for good reason; President Bill Clinton at the time declared Iran a threat to America’s national security, and it has remained so since. It’s astonishing to learn that Koch has been going to such great lengths to sidestep this ban until as recently as 2007; even as Iran’s leader denied the Holocaust and pledged to erase Israel from the Middle East, Republicans competed to get closer and closer to the Koch Brothers, to obtain their ill-gotten donations wherever possible. Now that we know the truth, Republicans must set the record straight."
  2. Seems like the Tea Party Republicans are intent on crashing the American economy. How else would you explain the chain of events since the Republicans took over the house? http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2011/10/2011104161243750790.html "The chairman of the US Federal Reserve has urged congress against implementing spending cuts that could cause more financial turmoil, saying the country's economic recovery is "close to faltering". Ben Bernanke made the appeal in testimony to US legislators in Washington on Tuesday, painting a bleak picture of the economic outlook for the US and the world. Speaking to members of a joint economic committee, Bernanke said recent indicators point to "the likelihood of more sluggish job growth in the period ahead". He called for a credible plan to cut long-term deficits, but said legislators should "avoid fiscal actions that could impede the ongoing economic recovery". "There is evident need to improve the process for making long-term budget decisions, to create greater predictability and clarity, while avoiding disruptions to the financial markets and the economy," he said."
  3. Slander and intimidation are allowed here. Opinion is not....unless it is right wing opinion of course.
  4. This is funny shit!!!! Where is your tinfoil hat? Making stuff up about me seems to be a major effort of the right wing posters here......I guess that is all they can do since they object to reading...or learning. Sad small minds.
  5. Funny that Fair and balanced Fox News left this out of their special report above http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNqQx7sjoS8
  6. Interesting new poll. Republicans don't know what G.O.P. stands for! http://www.politicususa.com/en/gop-meaning "Just a tick under half of the people who spend their days telling the rest of us how it really is, and giving us “the facts” have no idea what the abbreviation for their own party means. Having a political party where a premium is placed on ignorance can be a good thing for party leaders and conservative media, because once they trust you, these people will believe almost anything that you tell them. The downside is that having too many intellect hating party members can lead to the party becoming untethered from reality and existing on a fringe outside of the American political mainstream. Faith based anti-intellectualism has invaded the GOP (Grand Old Party) to such a degree that it is risking literally not knowing what it stands for anymore. Beyond giving us a chuckle at GOP (Grand Old Party) ignorance, these results highlight one of the problems in our current political system. How can the two parties come together when one party is distrustful of facts and promoting ignorance as a virtue? Without agreement on the facts, there can be no consensus on issues and solutions. The problem isn’t that these people are politically ignorant. It is that they consider their ignorance to be a good, pure, and virtuous trait that makes them fit to lead the country." This kinda explains some posters here , doesn't it?
  7. Thanks for bumping my posts to the top of the forum!
  8. Thanks for bumping my posts to the top of the forum!
  9. Why post when you have nothing to say? if you think that you are showing your cleverness then I suggest you go back to grade school where this type of oneupmanship was normal. If you have nothing to add to the discussion then please stop insulting me.
  10. This is the Republican excuse for disenfranchising the poor and especially the poor black voter. After all they mostly vote Democrat. Where is the fraud that this is supposed to combat? If you can't see that this movement of voter disenfranchisement is orchestrated by the Republicans for political advantage, then you are being willfully blind. I think I'll go with the New York Times article instead of a recitation of Republican excuses.
  11. I stand by my statements. It is interesting that, rather than reply to the posts the right wing apologists are the first to attack the poster. Very shallow.
  12. Interesting article on "Industrial Policy" http://www.economist.com/node/21530958
  13. Does the republican attack on democracy alarm anyone else? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/03/us/new-state-laws-are-limiting-access-for-voters.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha2 "South Carolina and Texas estimate that between them they have more than 800,000 registered voters who may not have acceptable forms of photo identification. While both states will offer free identification cards that would be acceptable at the polls, critics of the new laws worry that the added barrier to voting could discourage people from going to the polls. South Carolina estimates that 8 percent of its voters — 216,596 people — do not currently have the proper identification. Texas calculated that at least 95 percent of its registered voters have a driver’s license or valid identification card, but could not say for sure whether the 605,576 names on its voter list that do not appear on its lists of people with driver’s licenses or state-issued identification cards have them or not. The Department of Justice, which must approve the changes in Texas and South Carolina, recently asked both states for more information to make sure the changes do not violate the Voting Rights Act. Representative Terri A. Sewell, Democrat of Alabama, said her state’s new voter identification law, which is set to take effect in 2014, would strike close to home. Her father, who uses a wheelchair, has let his driver’s license lapse, she said, and used his Social Security card as identification when he voted for her — something that will no longer be allowed. “My mom will find a way to get my dad a photo ID, but a lot of my constituents don’t have the same capability,” Ms. Sewell said. “Given the relatively low turnout that we see in modern-day elections, we should be encouraging people to go to the polls to exercise their rights, and not discouraging them.”" video here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44693494#44693494

  16. God piece from the Economist on world and US finances http://www.economist.com/node/21530986 "Lacking conviction and courage In the aftermath of the Lehman crisis, policymakers broadly did the right thing. The result was not a rapid return to prosperity in the West, but after such a big balance-sheet recession that was never going to happen. Now, more often than not, policymakers seem to be getting it wrong. Their mistakes vary, but two sorts stand out. One is an overwhelming emphasis on short-term fiscal austerity over growth. Fixing that means different things in different places: Germany could loosen fiscal policy, while in Britain the reins should merely be tightened more slowly. But the collective obsession with short-term austerity across the rich world is hurting. The second failure is one of honesty. Too many rich-world politicians have failed to tell voters the scale of the problem. In Germany, where the jobless rate is lower than in 2008, people tend to think the crisis is about lazy Greeks and Italians. Mrs Merkel needs to explain clearly that it also includes Germany’s own banks—and that Germany faces a choice between a costly solution and a ruinous one. In America the Republicans are guilty of outrageous obstructionism and misleading simplification, while Mr Obama has favoured class warfare over fiscal leadership. At a time of enormous problems, the politicians seem Lilliputian. That’s the real reason to be afraid."
  17. You are a whacked out cultist...it is evident to anyone who has read any of your posts.
  18. Interesting development http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/29/us/justice-dept-asks-supreme-court-for-health-care-ruling.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha2 "Supreme Court Is Asked to Rule on Health Care By ADAM LIPTAK Published: September 28, 2011 WASHINGTON — The Obama administration asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to hear a case concerning the 2010 health care overhaul law. The development, which came unexpectedly fast, makes it all but certain that the court will soon agree to hear one or more cases involving challenges to the law, with arguments by the spring and a decision by June, in time to land in the middle of the 2012 presidential campaign."
  19. I hope everyone realizes that this Happy Gilmore is just Cocheeze with another ID. He is not a Ford worker.
