  1. Livonia got theirs a couple weeks ago...
  2. ******* JOKE ******* Robert J. Groden (born November 22, 1945) is an American author and photographer who has written extensively about conspiracy theories regarding the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. His books include The Killing of a President: The Complete Photographic Record of the JFK Assassination, the Conspiracy, and the Cover-up; The Search for Lee Harvey Oswald: A Comprehensive Photographic Record; and JFK: The Case for Conspiracy (shorter version than his 1975 co-authored book).[1] Groden has stated that his next book, JFK: Absolute Proof, will be released in late 2009 or 2010, and documents his interview with a Dealey Plaza witness who was standing with Lee Harvey Oswald inside the second floor of the Texas School Book Depository when they both heard shots being fired outside.[2][3] Video documentaries he has released are JFK: The Case for Conspiracy: Assassination and Medical Evidence, The Assassination Films: The Case for Conspiracy, Volume II, and The Killing of a President: A Video Magazine.[4] Groden has served as a photographic consultant for the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) , which concluded that the assassination of President Kennedy "was probably the result of a conspiracy," based in part on acoustical analysis.
  3. I have noticed in a lot of the threads that people are talking about $14 per hour employees. The question I have is this.... There has not been a single hire under the lower tier wage system to this point, as there are still many full pay ford employees on lay off.A lot of people seem to be scared that the low pay people will somehow displace them, but as it was negotiated, there cannot be any ford employees on layoff to institute this change. Was this 2 tier wage system negotiated to be permanent? Or does it expire this September with the rest of the contract? I would think that this would have to be re-negotiated again. If ford didn't use this during the last contract, why should it even be negotiated? Perhaps the bargainers will come up with a more creative way to stay competitive that does not require 2 tier pay. Any thoughts?
  4. Here is how the formula works: • 6% for profits earned less then 1.8% • 8% for profits earned greater then 1.8% but less then 2.3% • 10% for profits earned greater then 2.3% but less then 4.6% • 14% for profits earned greater then 4.6% but less then 6.9% • 17% for profits earned greater then 6.9% We will call each of profits earned percentages = x We will call the total number of Hourly workers = y We will call the total number of Salary workers = z Once you have the x factor, you then take x/y + z = new profit share pay amount X%. You take the new X% amount and devide that by your yearly earnings for that profit sharing year. Fore example: if X factor moved us into the 8% X factor bracket, and you earned 70k that profit plan year, you would receive $5600. Please understand that this is my understanding of the language and if this formula has changed, please explain how and when. I do believe it’s been the formula used in the master agreement since 1982. Hope this helps Thanks Jeff Hodges DTP Body Box Unit (outer) I left a significant factor out of the equation earlier. Once we have the X % factor, we then divide that % by our yearly earnings for that profit plan year. Again, this is the best I could figure it out. It worked for me in this formula pattern with our last profit sharing check.
  5. They cant do it this year unless they propose a contract change and we vote on it. I doubt anyone would vote yes on it at this point unless they think we will get more by doing so.
  6. agreed...... I estimate 10,900.00 I am no accountant though. Just looking over past figures and using the formula
  7. Yes, and we now have far fewer employees than we did in 99. The amount of employees is factored into the formula. I believe that the Wall Street Journal has made a decent sized under estimate. Perhaps that's why the said "profit sharing to top 5000"
  8. Thank You! Now we just have to wait and find out the "X" factor! The only reason this came to mind for me, is because Ford currently has about 1/3 the employees that they used to.
  9. Does anyone know if the number of employees factors into our profit sharing? Hate to jump the gun but, Ford seems on track for a good year. Hard to not get excited.
  10. Not a personal attack on anyone....... BUT........ It just shows what a mess our school systems are in. People graduate every year, and they can't even spell properly. If I was a business owner, and was looking to hire someone, I would throw the resumes out that had poor spelling/grammar.
  11. We are projected to make 800k 6r transmissions by 2012. 4r is supposed to last till 2014. Hopefully in that time period, we can get back gears and some machining of 6r parts. It sucks to have 13 years in and still be worried about your job on a daily basis. Cross your fingers and toes, keep making top quality, and pray for the best!
  12. After reading all of the discussion, I have come up with a scene from one of my favorite movies, Tommy Boy. Enjoy! Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting. Customer: Go on, I'm listening. Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside. Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good. Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted? [chuckles until he sees that Ted is not laughing too] Customer: [impatiently] What's your point? Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times. Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box? Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of $#!t. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me. Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you.
  13. By offering that warranty, we would show the public that we mean business, and in turn it would litterally force us to build higher quality. I think it's a great idea!
  14. I believe you can change whenever you want..... As long as it is not more than once a year. I would check with your benefits rep though, to be sure.
  15. A promise is a promise. Retirees worked their entire career on the basis that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Robbing them of that promise is a travesty. Perhaps we should learn from this, and negotiate for much higher wages, with no pension. As the company can just take future benefits away at will. Get the money now, and invest it wisely. Make your own pension. The company can not come into your home and take your stash out of the mattress.
  16. Does anyone else know several people who say "I want to retire, but I cant afford it!"? Yes, I would like everyone who has enough years in to retire, but on the other hand, some people are just can't for financial reasons. You really need to be able to live comfortably after all your years of working, or its all for naught.
  17. Anywhere would be good for us! How about Livonia Transmission? Two thirds of the plant is empty. We would welcome everyone on ILO.
  18. Yes, there was actually a post hanging around our plant going over all of the salaried benefits that are returning. Livonia Transmission...
  19. Hello, every time I have been laid off, about four cycles into calling MARVIN, I have the same problem. I get no check, and end up having to go to labor relations to straighten it out. They always tell me its a computer error. Hope this helps
  20. In the wise words of Tommy Callahan: "I can take a shit in a box, and mark it guaranteed. But in the end you only have a guaranteed piece of shit!" Chris Farley on the film Tommy Boy. In reference to some transplants who offer 100,000 mile warranties.
  21. Here is an interesting article that I came across. http://www.boilermakers.org/resources/commentary/V36N6 One of my favorite passages: "Workers today still reap the benefits paid for by the blood of those workers. Child labor laws, the 40-hour week, Social Security, and workplace safety regulations all came into existence because of unionized workers. All of the benefits we now expect from our employers - paid holidays, company-paid medical insurance, pension plans - were won by the efforts of organized workers. All Americans and Canadians benefit from the work of labor unions." I usually like to discuss unionism with friends and family, using compassion, reminding people that alot of the benefits that they recieve, are a direct reflection of the blood sweat and tears of the union organizers of the past. I always say "we don't make too much, its everyone else that does not get what they deserve." God bless everyone, and happy holidays!
  22. I sort of agree. Although it is an excellent benefit that has already been negotiated for, I would lean toward benefits that help all of us, not just the few that care to take advantage of it. Just think, if every eligible employee decided to go to school next semester, it could bankrupt the company immediately. I dont ever think we should give up a benefit that has already been won. But perhaps it can be modified to allow the people who choose not to go to school, to somehow use the funds elsewhere.
  23. A few disagreements 1."They're paying workers too much and selling cars for too little." How about: they're paying EXECUTIVES too much and selling cars for too little. 2. "Its unions need to adjust more. Its models and dealerships need to shrink. Its top executives have to downsize their own importance." How about: Its unions GAVE UP ENOUGH ALREADY. Its models and dealerships need to shrink. Its top executives have to downsize their own SALARY. 3. How about you taking a pay cut Mitch "because people get used to certain wages". And you are cutting into profits at the newspaper. Just a rant
