  1. Bottom line is we have too many brothers/sisters who live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to lose a days pay...when the next contract comes up in 3 years this sept. the membership will have forgotten all about this...the company will throw alittle cash towards them and then threaten them that if they strike they will be replaced...it will pass so get use to it. Despite the fact I can't stand where we have gone the past 20 plus years....it's not going to change.
  2. the membership voted...after major threats from international...to vote in the changes permanent...and now we wonder why we didn't win the grievance? Bob King was selected as a "company man" to push this bs contract thru and parachute out golden. How about 3 years from this Sept. everyone gets their house in order and takes a stand...instead of rolling over on idle threats from the union reps up north and tell them to shove it up their ass...enjoy the next 3 years...it's what some of you voted for.
  3. Exactly...all those that were scared by international and voted for the "contract" now must live with it. If I'm Ford, I tell the arbitrator why must I pay this grievance when the workers voted to accept it as permanent last contract...we will get nothing and now the members that voted it in aren't happy!
  4. depends on the plant..some only allow overtime on the shift you work...others both shifts...some spreads are 50-100 hours...others are more. Get your local agreement to find out specifics...better yet ask your committeeperson
  5. right now you are correct, no need but the word is that the stacker will be increased from 400+ units to 700+ units and then C-Crew will come back to the bodyshop and paint and at that time the AWS will be on the table. It appears that next July is indeed the target date but like anything else at Ford...subject to change.
  6. I saw a schedule yesterday that LAP is going to and it would take a rocket scientist to figure it out....why not go with 4 groups working 2 days and 2 nights...4 on, 4 off instead of this bs I saw they were going to. If our local at KTP can get 4 on then 4 off with the 7pm start for us midnighters...then I could live with it.
  7. Please do, what are the shifts that you guys are going to work?...we are rumored to be trying to go to it by the end of the year. Not sure how they get away with the 11.5....seems to me that the unpaid lunch would be always fall at the worst time for the company...ie, big breakdown? Seems to me that would get paid lunches real quick...but then again if your local union backs you like ours...understandable!
  8. Can someone break it down with the hours and how it works....rumors here at KTP that Skilled Trades may go to it. Justing trying to get an idea from some of the other plants currently using it. I have heard alot of workers say they like it...others, not so much. Thoughts?
  9. because they need replacement now...not in 4 years. That's the company lack of planning for the future...not suprising!
  10. I would say anyone at the tier 1 payscale will be eligible and then it would go to years of service one would think. You figure the average take home is $35k per year retirement before 62 then it goes to half that....so lets say for argument purposes...average between 18k and 35k required by Ford until your death...or a percentage of that to your spouse if you opt for that. I'd say if the company offered 15-20k per year of service at the time of the offer it would more then make sense for an active worker to take it. Alot will depend on what was you can take the buyout in form of rollovers...and how much the union wanted to dip their hand in the our pockets.
  11. AT KTP it's team leaders and not bid....most seem to dislike this and the first local was voted down by a wide margin but the union apparently doesn't care and we are now voting on the second local and the TL issue did not change...and also they tell us we will stay at 14-1 until 2015...what? Easy no vote for me. Chance to add jobs and make seniority matter and they cave on both issues.
  12. Here's to hoping they offer a pension buyout that way I only count on me moving forward and after retirement...ask our retiree's how it worked out for them depending on the union/company with no say whatsoever!
  13. It works for the company but all depends on the structure of the payout to the workers? If it is rolled to a IRA and taxes are left alone and the amount is in the ballpark of what has been stated here...with 23 years it's a no brainer for me.
  14. If those numbers are anything close to what might be offered...it's a no brainer for me. Show me the money The biggest question is will it be in a tax free investment that you draw off of at 59 1/2 or if you are taxed. If you are taxed 1/2 of that is gone. I like the idea that I am not out on my own as a retiree like they are now and have no say when the union takes from them. I also like that if i pass my wife already has the money...and if Ford were to go belly up the government wouldn't be running my pension. Its a win/win in my opinion if the money is right.
  15. It makes sense for Ford to look into this...anybody that gets off the books is a large benefit to Ford and it's stock holders. I personally would much rather run my own retirement and know what my money is doing and that it will be there and with the way our retiree's are getting screwed at every contract...it's a great idea to me. If the money is right I would be in immediately. On top of that...the average retiree lives about 18 months after retirement before passing...money up front means that money is still there when you pass for your wife or kids. The best thing of all is when your Social Security kicks in your pension is reduced in half....now you still get your social security and you retain all the pension. But the money has to be right....and that's the big issue.
  16. If the money's right I would love to have x amount of dollars per year of service and handle my own retirement...that way I know it will be there and can grow accordingly. Please let this be the case. If Ford sweetens the pot enough and then takes volunteers I would jump all over it.
  17. And the "Settles" update will go like this....blah blah blah....nothing to see here....blah blah blah...be happy to have a job.
  18. I am happy that all trades can come back to their tools...but my opinion is the motive to offer the $100k is more in line with the condensing of the trades then bringing them back...just my 2 cents!
  19. In my opinion Ford will offer buyouts every single contract...why wouldn't they? Everytime a skilled trades worker leaves they don't replace and can begin to condense the trades together and every production that leaves allows a lower cost employee to take their spot for less money, less benefits and no pension. Buyouts will continue...in my opinion.
  20. Bottom line if there was any possible money coming they would have found a way to throw it in that last piece of shit contract to sweeten it up alittle...nothing is coming. They let this die between contracts then everyone is pissed but gets over it by the next contract 3 years from now and they shove another shit contract down our throats and scare the membership into voting for it and the membership will because like this past vote, they don't have a pot to piss in and can't afford to strike...I hope I'm wrong...but I doubt it.
  21. Only 20 signed up at KTP and only ones being replaced are Electricians.....2 electrical apprenti coming on this month
