For many reasons we've already discussed many times and gettlefinger has stated...concessions should always be last resort if even an option! Mismanagement and poor product planning (i.e. flex, dropping F-150 diesel option TWICE now, no B-compact, only 2 hybrids (same vehicle) etc etc.... We gave them VEBA....we gave them 2-tier wages....most of us have seen substantial lay off this past yr....GEN pool watered dwn...'nuff said! Pls add any other pts (i missed) or opinions..... ford employees only!

I hope you find your way brother. Politics and religion are tough topics to discuss ANYWHERE let alone the confines of an industry forum like this. I really do understand your dounts but the pt is..............u have to understand that blind faith is the untimate devotion type thing and while its super hard @ times for EVERYONE...the kingdom of heaven will be well worth it. Well said country! I love workin at DTP too. These ppl have no idea how they killed us dwn there in Norfolk, even when i got to old paint @ NAP i did twice the work the paint shop at DTP does! They think im a star cause i know like 25 jobs here and can learn any in 10min or so! lol They can thnk old dictator Stanley Wilson i guess! :reading:

The cheaper cars will def sell better but...............if ppl can put off ANY car purchase they may, especially when u CANT get a car loan w/decent credit! I wanted a new '09 F-150 w/ 6-spd tranny but im not buyin right now. :reading:

I hope this is not the case! Transplants are not amer companies and shouldnt get any of this from US govt! I certainly dont expect Ford of china or japan or europe to get direct help from there govts... just maybe some tax breaks like we give them when they employ amer workers... and even those are TOO generous IMO! :shades:

Im from NAP too, packages havent changes @ all....that is some of the problem now probably w/regards to getting more ppl to leave etc. :reading:

Name a secure, growing field in the US besides healthcare?....... i doubt u can cause there arent any (at least that pay above a living wage...lol).

The UAW has been run out of the southern US (for now, why u think the pay on average is so bad there?) ......besides, its overpriced in most areas and they dont pay even if u do find a job! Im from there and LOVE living in MI....have u ever even been to MI, troll?... as for golf courses i have a PGA course 30min from my home and more golf courses per sq mi than any other state ive ever lived (FL,VA,MI).....

The edison ppl that went to NAP mostly went into Gen pool instead of taking the lucrative (at that time anyway) "transfer of ops" to DTP cause they knew how system worked after movin from EAP to NAP................. are you surprised??

Definitely. Things are not good, but is the sky falling? No. Its easy to get sucked up AND completely paranoid.

....along w/ many,many other industries etc etc. Its too soon to make any dire predictions and its always easy to be negative or whatever....as quick as we fall into these catastrophies these days maybe we can also come out as quickly (real estate markey withstanding)..if/when they do agree on a bailout scenario (@ least the big 3 got something) this may lift other aspects of economy. Im not worried about any buyouts personally and have commited myself to this company no matter what. u wont interact w/him or hardly ever see him....they bounce these guys around (if they are good). Our PM @ DTP is young hotshot thats been to 8 different plants b4 DTP & is under 40yrs old.

Paint shop is the place to be @ least in my 2 plant experience so far.. ive worked @ Norfolk & DTP (always in paint!).

Good for you brother! Sometimes all it takes is a slight change to make things 100% better. Lets all get this '09 truck out there as best as can be even though i think demand will be soft in leiu of our economic cond...... oh well, more golf this fall in farmington hills!!!!!!! FYI, look for a guy named David from Norfolk.. he's good ppl and doesnt get involved w/plant politics (he may be on 2nd shift now??)

Why would u go bk to DTP from DEFTP?...did u have a choice on the matter?........

If they did not include spare on some '08 models it wasnt the increase MPG as the main motive it was most definitely increasing profits on a low profit but strong selling model.....

Easy now. Point taken, but lets not offend anyone either. NAP did alot to raise Fords quality rating in trucks for decades. Thats a fact, ask management.
