  1. I did not know that he was "New"...... According to the press releases the MKS was supposed to indicate the new direction of Lincoln designs.... I guess that was not accurate....
  2. For Lincoln's sake, I hope he came on board AFTER the recent MKS/MKT disasters.... If that is the case, then I think that there is hope.....
  3. No, I think that the latest styling designs from Lincoln were horrible..... I think I am entitled to an opinion...
  4. If you don't like my posts, don't read them....Problem solved...
  5. I think that they need a new design department as well......
  6. I am pretty sure Ford could have fixed that it they had wanted to....
  7. I honestly believe that if the Current Ranger had been give a modern engine and six speed+ transmission it would have been a big hit..... I guess we will never know....
  8. The only way would be to go down hill at 75mph....... It is complete BS....
  9. If this was directed at me, you totals missed my point...... I think 17-18mpg for my truck at 75mph is reasonable.... If fact my truck gets more or less what Ford says it will get. What I am trying to point out is that these claims people post on the internet of 20+mpg at 75mph in one of these trucks is complete bull $hit....
  10. I think you are still wrong, but at least you pointed out that it would have to be absolutely perfect conditions (extremely rare in the real world) and could not, by ANY reasonable person, be though of as normal driving conditions.... Several people here have said my measured results of 17.5 at 75mph on flat ground are abnormally low and this 20mpg at 75mph is some how closer to normal. Does that seem to be a valid conclusion to you? I should point out that the Highway and Highspeed portion of the EPA test tops out at 21mpg and has an average test speed of 48.4mph. The Highway speed never exceeds 60mph....
  11. I really wish there was a valid way for us to do a bet on this.....Easy Money.....
  12. And you would be correct....... At 60mph on level ground it will get 20-21mpg. My truck did that on a recent trip to Florida. When I crused at 75mph on mostly level ground the best it would do over time is about 17.5mpg.... I am nearly certain that NO 4x4 F150 Ecoboost Supercrew will get 20mpg at 75mph.... I would love to see a video of anyone that can sustain that MPG at that speed over say 10 miles with the cruse set. ( without going down hill the entire way) Basically get it up to 75mph. Reset the trip computer ( which usually reads a little on the happy side) and hold the speed. I don't think it would do it even on level ground..... I have seen many of these claims on the internet, but I have never seen any video evidence that can back up the claim.... I have seen a few that made the claim, but they also showed the trip computer that gave miles driven and elapsed time. When you do the math you realize that the avg speed was closer to 60mph which is of course reasonable....
  13. Bottom line: Do you think the Ecoboost 4x4 super crew will get 20mpg at 75mph or not?????
  14. I am an engineer as well... If you get enough anecdotal evidence you can establish a trend..... Common sense and personal experience tells me that these trucks DO NOT get 20mpg at 75mph on non-level ground. Would you agree or not?
  15. I am not saying his numbers are definitely wrong, but they have to be on flat ground..... I have not met a single person who owns an ecoboost 4x4 that lives in a non-flat area is getting the 19-20mpg at 75mph which is what he claimed. EVERYONE I have talked too is getting much closer to 17-18mpg at 70-75 with the Ecoboost in a 4x4 supercrew configuration so I am certain that the higher MPG numbers are the exception rather than the rule and almost always are in areas that are mostly flat...... By the way another engineer where I work bought a 2wd Super Crew Lariat Ecoboost recently. (His is black/adobe as well) He only has about 1000 miles on it, but is getting almost the same mileage (within 1mpg) that I do so I guess he got a Bad Truck too? So now, at our company, we have Two Ecoboosts, One 5.0L, One 5.4L, and One 6.2L F150's. Two of our customers have a 4x4 Ecoboost super crew. ( One is the exact same model color and options as mine) One gets about the same mileage that I do and the other always says he gets about 1mpg better. I guess they got a Bad Truck Too..... I find it interesting that Ford seems to send all of their defective trucks to Georgia and the rest of the country gets the good ones....
  16. One other note. Almost every published test I have seen ( other than the hyper mileage stunts) have put the actual "observed gas mileage" of the Ecoboost mostly match what I am getting. So, saying that my MPG is unusually low would be hard for me to believe based on these published tests and also talking to other Ecoboost owners.... It would seem far more likely that the higher MPG numbers are the exception rather than the rule......
  17. Unless you live in an area that is completely flat, I doubt you are getting those numbers.... Even in Flat Florida, 17mpg is the best it would do at 70mph.....period.... Is is possible that something is wrong with mine? Possible, but I would hate to think that Ford's quality control is so poor that it would allow that big of a variation from vehicle to vehicle....
  18. I would love for it to be a bad unit that can be fixed, but at least two dealers say it is working fine......
  19. Guys, I guess we are going to simply have to agree to disagree... Unless you own a ecoboost powered truck, you have zero idea of how the thing behaves. It is quite different from any V8 truck I have drove. There are Several things it does the most V8's do not... 1) This thing sux fuel like vampire until it warms up. I reset the gauge before leaving the hose ths mourning. (40 degrees). I never got over 45 mph for the first 10 miles and encountered little traffic. 11.3 mpg for the first 10 miles. My trip was about 32 miles. After it warmed up I hit a realitively flat stretch where I crushed about 50mph for about 20 miles and a few stops. It read 15.8mpg at the end if the trip. 2) It really drinks gas while towing a load. My little 2500lb boat and trailer drops mpg to 14mpg mostly highway 55-65mph. Towing a car carrier wit about 3000lb car and the milage drops to 8-10mpg.... 3) When the turbo builds any boost it drinks fuel like a vampire. The funny part is that low or med acceleration has little if any effect on mpg.....unlike a V8, babying the accel has little affect n mpg. In some cases it will hold a low gear too long and actually hurt mpg. This is what surprised me the most.... For it's power the ecoboost gets ok gas mileage. However, I do not believe it is much better than most V8 driven the same way. Until you drive one for a while you simply cannot understand what I am talking about. However, most of the high mpg claimed you see on the Internet forums are complete BS..... Especially the guys that claim high teens and even 20+ at 75-80mph. Even on a flat highway they will NOT get these results..... In my opinion, Ford has over stated what this engine will really get. The ONLY way mine will see 21 mph on the highway is to drive 55-60mph on a completely flat highway wit no traffic. With any traffic or hills that same speed will yield 17-18 at best..... Bump it up to 70-75mph and 16-17mpg is all it will do.... Again not bad for a big 4x4 truck, but nothing all that special either...... The ecoboost is mostly about boost and a little about Eco..... That is a fact and no amount of speculation based on EPA or some weird MPG stunt is going to change that.....
  20. The real world is rarely well defined so yes I stand by my statement.....
  21. All it really implies is that in real world conditions that the trucks are likely to encounter the economy is about the same. The Eco has the edge in power.... The 5.0L in sound quality...
  22. My point was simply that they did not get 20MPG while doing all of this like some of the crap you see all over the internet. The fact that the 5.0L and the Ecoboost are similar in economy was not the primary point, but I do know that they are similar. Yes I agree the the Ecoboost is more powerful. However it is far more about boost and not so much eco... ( at least in the real world )
  23. I guess, but if I drive any slower, the red around the collar boys around her are going to start shooting at me....
  24. That sux.... The seat base is wider in the Raptor... The cushion and cover are different as well.....
