  1. Thank you for the info. I think you're right, we just have to wait until the concession talks are completed
  2. Cool.............I think we would make the cut if they changed the contract and allowed national seniority to rule (where gen bank employees would exercise seniority regardless of openings) I don't think my trade seniority would hold however but at least I could go back on the line and have a job. The rumor that has been floating since the jobs bank was eliminated is that THERE WILL BE NATIONAL SENIORITY!! But the contract as it stands now (for whatever that's worth!!!) says they cannot come in without an opening!!!
  3. welder........... hired into production Aug. 15 94'. I would just like to know what information is being given to gen bank employees.
  4. August 94' ford seniority..........Jan. 97' trade seniority
  5. This is only for employees currently in jobs bank: What is the union/company telling you now..............are you going to be able to exercise your seniority and bump into plants regardless of if there is an open position or not? Are they going to "create" positions or put in req's for you and then layoff low seniority once the jobs bank is cleaned out? This is a pretty big concern for anyone (like myself) who might not make that final cut.
  6. Here is my speculation or venting you might call it: Everyone should stand up and be counted and then bend over. We are about to be inducted into the class of the WORKING POOR. You might know someone who works two jobs and his wife works also just to keep the wolf off the porch (no, not extra money to save) I would suggest getting to know them better and ask them how they do it, BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE WE ARE ALL HEADED!!!!!!! :reading:
  7. Anyone know how many Ford employees are in the jobs bank? Also, their seniority? If they cut out the jobs bank and the employees in it exercise their seniority(bump into plants) alot of lower seniority will either be bumped into a different job or (even worse) bumped into the unemployment line (MARVIN you suck ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would guess that everyone with less than 15 years (thats me !) should hold on to their ass!!!
  8. Will Wayne Assembly get another car when the current Focus car is done? The contract said we had another one coming. Or is it true we are going to be a warehouse and then MTP will get the next gen Focus? Any other rumors?
  9. This changes everything if it's true. I was always told there had to be an opening in your plant (although Wayne/ISA local allows bumps between plants) If they truely have national seniority now and will allow seniority to go to any plant they want, I wish they had said that when the buyouts started! They would have gotten their numbers and more. Oh shit!!! That's right........now they can still get their numbers for a hell of alot fewer buyout packages!! Smart guy that Mullaly is !! Just lay off low seniority like Chrysler did. Oh well, nice knowing ya!!!
  10. I was under the impression that when ford trades do the work, their hours are charged to the vehicle or part they produce at their location. This makes the Harbour report look worse. When contractors do the work it is charged to a seperate account and doesn't affect the Harbour report. This puts in-house trades at an immediate disadvantage, regardless of how much lower their bid is compared to contractors. Also, the maintenance engineers I have seen don't know how or don't want to manage projects or they simply don't want to take responsibility for projects. They send jobs to contractors before we get a chance. I have seen project work (overtime) decline steadily over the last few years. Am I right, or is it just my plant?
  11. All of this constant bitching and taking pot-shots at one another won't matter in the end. I hate to be cynical ( actually I can't help myself ) but these "ultra concessionary" "transformational" contracts have put me in a shitty mood!!! We have been "sold down the river" , we have "given away the store", "bought the farm", "took a bath" or whatever the hell you want to call it because it doesn't matter: the good ole days are long gone. The only thing left to do is assume the position and spread your butt cheeks wide. This contract is gonna need alot of room!
  12. Pumpmaster, are you disappointed when you hear good news coming out of Iraq? Are you disappointed that Petraus and the surge is successful. If you are, that would mean that you want our troops to lose, and that truely would be a sorry excuse for "patriotism"!! And yes, I am a Ford employee
  13. Hey all you "patriots" out there who say you "support" the troops but are against the war..... What does that actually mean? Isn't that like rooting for the Lions to get to the Super Bowl all these years, and then when they got there you would hope they get there ass whipped? It drives me up a wall when your "heros" you adore so much like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi say they "support" the troops but they want to do a slow bleed on them by trying to pass these dumbass resolutions that only hurt our soldiers. Why don't they immediately de-fund the war and get the troops home as soon as they can. These libs are so heavily invested in defeat in Iraq, they won't know what to do if we win. They don't know what to do now with the progress the military is making lately! What the hell are you guys who "support" the troops, but jump all over any negative news out of Iraq that vindicates your position of being against the war gonna do if we win? You guys arw pathetic just like th lib politicians you elect!
  14. April 30 (5 weeks) Michigan Truck begins one shift production
  15. I would say yeah, make trade seniority equal to company seniority. But only after we become journeymen. At that point, we are qualified to do every job in the plant, right? We may not have the experience the tradesmen had on the outside, but, many of the things they did before, they are not doing at Ford. The worst problem, however, would be during the apprenticeship portion. Some journeymen would sabotage the training if their apprentice would jump ahead of them once they graduated. Of course, I would jump ahead if trade seniority=company seniority, so I am biased. But, don't worry high seniority, it ain't never gonna happen!!!!! :happy feet:
  16. For God's sake firedude26, if you have any info, cough it up!!! :happy feet:
  17. Does anyone have an updated trade seniority list of Wayne/ISA? If so, how many of the soon to be laid-off trades from MTP are eligible to go over there? As usual (with only 7 weeks to go) management and the union are treating us like mushrooms: keeping us in the dark and feeding us a load of shit!!!!
  18. I don't know...ford doesn't make money anymore! But, when they used to make money, they could turn some of their profits into new product launches. Also, I believe ford, gm, and chrysler has put alot more money back into the communities where they have operations than the "foreign" automakers have. You see, that is the dilemma now: toyota, nissan, hyundai are like juggernauts!! They have more money to build more plants here, provide more jobs here, get into our communities, and worst of all, develope more products. I don't know how, or even if, they can be stopped!!
  19. Someone forgot to mention where the profits that Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai , Volkswagen, and others go to: They go to Tokyo, Seoul, and Berlin!! In other words, the only thing these transplants give back to the U.S. is the wages they pay to their workers and whatever communitity donations and property taxes they pay in the towns where their factories are. So when someone you know drives a foreign car and says " What's the difference? They are built it here in the U.S.!" , then you can proceed to mention this fact and tell them they are full of shit! Until they move their corporate headquarters over here, they are definitely still FOREIGN CARS!!!
  20. Trades will be cut in half. All, except to 2 seniority welders will be shown the door(including me Eventually all ford plants will have 2 trade classifications ( mechanic and electrician) If you don't have at least 20 years trade seniority you are f**ked!!! Oh well, have a nice day!! :happy feet:
  21. Hey Gaudeyville, nice knowing ya!!!!!!!!!! The low seniority trades at MTP are screwed for sure! See ya around. :happy feet:
  22. I'm just saying that I think the welders training and experience should count for something. I guarantee the responses to this subject would be different if the responders trade classfication was thrown out and their work was given to the other trades. The welders are being treated the same as the gunnys who never had an apprenticeship. I'm willing to learn another trade, but I doubt any welders will be given the chance and will either be laid off or put back on the line. I think this COA sucks for everybody, but the changes are going to hurt the welders and be a gain for the trades (who have enough seniority) that pickup the welding trade. Oh well, whatever.
  23. What do they do with the welders at COA plants that lay off welders as a result of the COA? Do they go back on the line if they have production seniority? Will they be called back to trades when there is an opening? Or are they going to be passed up because their welder classification has been split up among the other trades? What would really be bullshit is if they called back a millwright who had less trade seniority than a welder. What, a welder can't learn the millwright trade? Yeah, whatever!!!!!!!!!!!! And what would really be f**cked up is if they laid off welders because of the COA and kept millwrights that had less time than the welders that were kicked to the curb. Assholes!!! Anybody from COA plants have any answers?
