  1. The S197 takes well to superchargers. There are tons of options all in the 5-7K$ range. Companies include Saleen, Whipple, Roush, Vortech, Paxton, Kenne Bell, magnacharger. Whatever you go with be absolutely certain it is tuned in properly for a proper AF. You'll grenade your engine quickly under boost if you run too lean. There are intercooled and nonintercooled systems. Nonintercooled are cheaper but you can't make as much power and can potentially be less reliable. IMO, I'd get an intercooled setup. It has it's own cooling system. Some of the setups can be installed at home in a garage while others pretty much need professional experience. I have read about people installing the Saleen kit and using an ECU programmer and all was well. Would still probably be smart to get a good dynotune. Roush offers an option that when installed by an authorized entity will retain or prolong the powertrain warranty. Within brands, there are varying levels of performance. It can range from a 400hp kit to a 550hp or possibly more. Most guys are running along the low to mid 400s to the wheels with intercooled setups. This seems to be a "safe" level. All of the above comes from my reading various forums and seeing what products are available. If I am incorrect at any point please post the correction.
  2. It would be kind of cool to see grabber blue and emberglo. Maybe a grabber green. I don't think a color change alone would get anyone to upgrade from an 05-08. They are going to need to give us more power with better or similar economy along with a nice manual 6 spd.
  3. Pretty sure that is normal for all newer Ford Autos. Not the weird shifting, the no fill/ no dip stick.
  4. Look under the center console lid for a female jack. You'll need a male to male 3.5 type jack like on your MP3 Player.
  5. From what I've seen the general consensus for performance on the S197 is to go 4.1 on manual with NA and 3.73 or 3.9 on manual with forced induction. On autos they seem to go with a slower gear like 3.55 or possibly 3.73. I think a lot just stay with the standard 3.31 when going forced induction. I've seen a spreadsheet somewhere that shows all the different RPM/Speed with different rear ends for each gear.
  6. They are offering 3.73 now? It makes sense because of the bullit I guess. I like my 3.55. I say If you want more performance, go 3.73 but if you want better streetability and mileage, go 3.55. In fact, if your serious about performance you'll want a 4.1 but you might consider the 3.73 from the factory if you plan to supercharge.
  7. That's funny. After I got the Borla Stingers that sound pretty much went away. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded retro.
  8. ? Got any info on this? I guess I could just go pull one of the plugs.
  9. I was referring to a new cast for the head that started in late 07 and 08 that uses a fully threaded plug and not one with the shaft that gets stuck and comes apart. I'm speaking specifically of the Mustang 4.6 but I think it is the same head cast as the 5.4 found in the pickup. http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106090 Also this says they started in Oct 08. I hope not. My Mustang was made in Aug/Sep. http://f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320674
  10. Is it true that late 07 and all 08s have a new design that use a fully threaded spark plug?
  11. I snapped some pictures of one that I brought home from a test drive. http://picasaweb.google.com/trthompson/200...key=YVAZ8pOrgUs
