I will be the First to say I am a true Mustang Fan, Love the history, Love what I have and am about to order a 2008 GT because I love this car.
With that said, Hasn't Ford listened to the customers and looked at the competition with what is on the Market? Even Mustang History has more than 2 engine options or more Performance based packages. Look at 1965 to 1970 (170, 200, 250, 280, 289, 302, 351, 390, 427, 428, 429) all within a six year model run, ranging from 101 HP to 375 HP.
I have driven and love the feel of the GT but still leaves you wanting a little more. Yes, I can imagine that the GT500 is a Heck of a ride, but lets face it, it is such a High demand car that we will Rarely see them for even MSRP. Most here where I am at are going for $20K to $25K above sticker and people are paying it, making the car equal in price to a Loaded Corvette if not Base Z06.
Just look at what else is offered, and see that Competitors are getting the power, why can't Ford?
350Z, 3.5L V6, 306 HP
Eclipse, 3.8L, 263 HP
GTO, 6.0L, 400 HP
Monte Carlo, 3.5L V6 and 5.3L V8
Charger, 6.1L, 425 HP
I would love to see some other engine options, from the factory. Things that would not be COSTLY to Ford, like offering the 5.0L with 350-400HP, or the 4.6 Super Charged like the 03 Cobra 400-425HP, or even a Non- super charged 5.4L with 400-450HP. These options I believe would Drive up sales and give Everyone what they want, and in most cases it is More power without paying $50K plus for it.
I understand alot of it is money, with development, but these kind of options CANT cost Much More. Even if they did, I am sure people would pay an extra few thousand for a Standard Mustang GT with the 5.4L non-super charged engine or the few thousand more for a Super Charger from the factory.
Just my thought of the day... and on the Minds of Many Forums and chat rooms.
