  1. Meh, that's what the bus with the plow is for..plus if you arm it you can get stuff from those others who are also looking hehe. Either way, I wouldn't starve. Hmm...get a tank, They're not locked while in garrison and the keys are left in them when they're there.... The downside of course is a little mishap like a car accident or requiring surgery and you're screwed as nobody is qualified, and while I'm qualified to give needles and do first aid/cpr/defib/etc...that won't help much for a sliced artery or severed tendon.
  2. From stores that were left full when people died, warehouses, etc. Plus I'd start growing crops with the latest and best equipment! Top of the line tractors/combines/etc..irrigation systems heck everything would be free, just mow down the salesmen who were left walking in circles at the dealership going "aarrrgggg" LOL!
  3. Kid just finished 4th season which was on net flixs. Watched the whole thing in about 3 weeks. I watched some of it and it is interesting but I can't help but think "why would they do that? Just...) I'd mount a big v-plow on the front of a bus and weld cages over the windows and doors and go "deathrace 2000" on them LOL! Grab an excavator and dig a 10ft X 10ft moat around a huge compound and fill it with water/build a drawbridge. Man I could really survive quite comfortably! Free food, free gas/diesel/veg oil, free housing. I won't even go into the free women part LOL! I'd arm the hell out of myself, punji pits, claymores set out for those who are still alive and can swim across the moat....oh yeah....life would be good for those that can "do anything" for themselves.
  4. I've been jumping for joy as the price tumbled...but then heard the stories (ulterior motives? conspiracy theories?) and am a little apprehensive. There was talk of opec fighting about whether to keep the price up by reducing pumping or keeping pumping the same and gaining market share. US shale oil is about $65 a barrel to produce and Alberta tar sands oil is $70 per barrel, opec costs about $30 per barrel to produce. In theory, they could keep pumping, drive the price down to $50 a barrel and kill a lot of Canadian and US companies/jobs while still bringing profit. (albeit at a reduced rate) I'm still glad the price is down as I've gone from over $100 a week for fuel to $48 a week...but...if it's bad for North America.....
  5. "they could be alive today if the assault victims we not armed." EXACTLY! And that is what people don't understand, if you want the victim to be alive, let them be armed, if you want the criminal to be alive, don't let victims be armed. I might have 30+years in the Army, but I don't even own a gun, don't hunt etc. I'm VERY qualified on many weapons, I just don't look at them as a hobby or with interest, to me they're a tool to be used when needed. Well after this stuff in Ottawa going on and the lockdown on our bases, a buddy gave me a shotgun to keep for protection. Boys are 13 and 17 and know it's a weapon so don't touch it. Will I ever use it? HIGHLY doubtfull, but it's there "in case". After this dies down I'll give it back and probably get my own "in case". I don't care if people are armed or not, I just think everybody has the "right" to protect themselves against criminals. I can guarantee I'm not going to commit any crimes just because I have a gun now, that thought is ludicrous! But it's what the left will lead you to believe."increase in gun ownership will cause an increase in crime" REALLY??? Where do they even come up with that crap???
  6. "Yup sonny, way back in '14 when I was a punk like you, we'd cruise around in the camry looking for others to race...went up against a lot of hot cars at the time, elantras, sportages, one guy even had this fusion that was a terror around our town...." "yup, them were the days, boiling the front hides at every stoplight, doing reverse donuts in the parking lots...we were pretty badass back then..." BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah, fwd crap is what real racecars are made of! BWAHAHAHA! Better not forget all the hot minivans too!
  7. You mean two doors are not even allowed to compete? I always hated the look of a 4 door racecar and I thought it was because that was all that was available...but they CHOSE to run 4 doors? Aussie's are a strange lot. Of course running a serious race with camping trailers on your car...not even as a joke...that's strange too.
  8. We were supposed to get 2 then 3 intercepters, then 4...just got the paperwork for 2 more for a total of 6 awd 3.7's. One that just got plated and hasn't been put in duty yet I had to run down to the dealership as the speedo was reading 60 while the digital was saying 30km's. Called today for an update and they are doing a WARRANTY RECALL 14B05 PWR TRN CALIBRATION. Was playing with it a bit, when you stomp on it it takes off quite well, when you hit the button to put it in low and stomp on it...6500 comes up REAL fast LOL! Around here it's all ford, either pi's or piu's. Last Thursday I took our last charger to crown assets for selling or scrapping or just throwing it in the harbour....NOBODY is sorry to see those pos leave!
  9. 7 seat edge..YES! That is one complaint I have with our 2013 edge is there is no room in it. I want to haul the wife, two kids and two dogs and luggage and....I'm selling it and putting the 2006 freestar back on the road. Wife bought a new focus and left the edge to me, too fancy/new/can't haul engines etc in the back...I'm not a "new car" kind of guy. hehe.
  10. The other day I was beside a woman on the highway who was weaving around and almost came into my lane a couple times, I kept trying to get her attention but she had her face buried in that stupid thing. I got so mad I finally rolled my window down and threw the rest of my beer at her! Go to europe and they like small screaming engines and manuals, NA like bigger torquier engines and auto's. The do very little stop and go driving and that's all we do. If more people wanted manuals, they'd be built. Unfortunately the take rate on manuals was so low that it wasn't worth it so now manuals aren't available on some vehicles even though people do want them. (f-150 and many others for ex) I would only drive manuals but the 2013 edge we got wasn't available and the auto in the 2013 focus the wife bought is exactly what I hate about the situation. It's a manual controlled by a computer. AAAHHH!!! I HATE it!!! I don't want the computer to feather in the clutch as I add throttle or shift or whatever. If I knew it felt like that when driven I wouldn't of let her buy it. I tried to see if it would be good to dragrace...brakes on,foot to the floor and...huh? It's idling..there is no throttle input with the brake applied! AAHH! Tried hit the gas and then mash the brakes on as if I was at the line, it held at 2500 or so but I imagine it must of been burning up the clutch to do it...stupid cars...give me a real manual anyday. Or a real auto with a converter for that matter. <rant over> LOL!
  11. I wish there were more manual vehicles available...rwd too...but I'm old
  12. Talked to the fleet guy at the ford dealership, when I mentioned the AC issue he gave me a blank look..."umm,what?" You can have AC, what are you talking about? So I told him what I was told and asked if he knew why we weren't getting the transits. The fleet purchase date was moved back to Nov 5th because they are already so over ordered. Ok, what does that mean? We have 18 transits coming but they won't be here until the new fiscal year. So, yes we are getting them after all but not until after 1 April. Basically, transits orders are way higher than anyone anticipated. Also, our orders for f-250's are fine but the f-150's and 350's are going to be an issue as well due to them being not available. (over ordered) He said, you notice the only f-150's on the lot all have sold tags on them? We can't even get one to show customers there is such a shortage. Well that's awesome news to hear!! Once again I did my part this year to sway the buying towards fords wherever possible.
  13. From 7am yesterday until...6:56 right now, we've got 77 confirmations in and more to come. These all have to be here before Mar 31st. The A/C things sounds so bizarre I'm looking into it. The fleet manager is the one with pull, I'm just a strong ford advocate hehehe, but he's new at the job so maybe he's out to lunch. I have to go to the local dealer to pick up a van that had warranty work done and I'll talk to the fleet guy there and ask then.
  14. I work closely with the fleet manager and QA and when the orders were going in for the fleet for this year I (again) had my say. So..all morning confirmations have been streaming in, so far we have 51 2015 f-250's 4x4's coming with 6.2's. Some variences but basically that's what they are. Knowing I'm a ford guy the fleet manager came and talked to me. Here is some of the conversation; The F-250's are $26,000 each! Yes I looked at the paperwork to confirm. Almost all of the new cars coming (12 fusions, 4 taurus, 3 fusion hybrids) are fords! We're paying $71,000 for three fusion hybrids. Total amount so far this morning is $1.6 million. We got a chev cab/chassis a couple weeks ago....that they forgot to add the box on the back!! Seriously, gm called and said it was ready for pickup, sent a guy to go get it and once there was told "ummm, they F*%$ed up...umm..it'll have to go back to Montreal to be outfitted" LOL! No tailights, nothing, big gaping hole in back of cab, came all the way from Toronto that way. We ordered 24 e-150's but were told they are no longer available so they were to be replaced by full size transit's. Problem is, 2015 full size tranits aren't available with A/C so we can't get them. So, we'll keep the e-150's for one more year. While typing this another one came in for 11 more f-250's.
  15. Meh, my cousin had a 72 challenger and he needed a 4 spd floor pan replacement (which has a huge hump for the shifter) and could only find ones for auto's. He eventually cut the hump out of his old one and grafted it to a new auto floor pan. I guess the point is dodge still hasn't learned? LOL
  16. That's interesting..the point being that 32 states are the tipping point. So you have three arms of government to keep each other in check, and if it all goes out the window, the people can take power from Washington by controlling 32 states. Very practical, a good "safety net of last resort". And up here the lib's and ndp are fighting over two guys that were kicked out due to inappropriate behaviour...while the Conservatives are laughing all the way to the polls...LOL!
  17. Like a fat girl on a moped......if it was 1500hp and did 7's in the quarter..it'd still be a camry. Ford, chev.dodge, heck dihatsu could build a one-off vehicle and say "look what we did"! but what is the point? Does anyone now think toyota knows how to build a drag car? Does anyone think that toyota will now join the ponycar wars? Or include a vehicle in Factory stock program like the cobra jet, copo and dragpack challenger??? Then what is the point of it? Ooooh look, we built a one-off tundra with 54" monster truck tires.....so?
  18. You know, I'm one of those die hard right wingers who will vote right regardless of who it is because I believe in the right wing as opposed to the left wing. The person might not be or do exactly what I want every time (of course) but their general leanings are right which I believe in. That said..the problem I see today is that the lines appear to be getting blurred and everybody is out for their personal gain. "The Democrats have discovered the joys of "big donor money" pouring in" is very true and is why they back corporations in some cases as well as Repub's learning that if you promise $$$, people will vote you in. Doesn't matter what the "good" is, they want in so they will tell WHOEVER, they will give them WHATEVER, to get in. In this new scenario, blindly voting for "your party" doesn't work and yes you should vote for the one that promises what's best for the people or the country. Of course all politicians lie during campaigns so once it's over, expect the left to go back to their "ways" as will the right. Canada hasn't dropped to the levels the US has as far as gov corruption/promoting self interest (although there is still evidence of that here) I just think at this time you can still vote for the party in Canada as opposed to the individual. Good luck guys, repub's got congress, hope they don't piss it away with bickering and fighting. I've never liked somebody opposing something just because they're on the other side of the fence.
  19. Ah, it's just local elections, gotcha. I've been too busy this summer racing and avoiding the news/media whenever possible, dunno, I think I'm becoming apathetic to the whole thing. I hear the constant crying from the left here (in Canada) regarding our centre/right gov and pray that there is enough people to vote the right back in. Our liberal choice is a 3rd gen rich boy who's claim to fame was his daddy was PM and his only "job" was as a substitute drama teacher. His biggest threat to not being PM is his own mouth. "the budget? it'll take care of itself" when asked how he would pay for all the $$ he wants to throw at people to buy their votes." canada should not be involved in the fighting, we should do what we're famous for and provide heavy lift capability to other nations" Um..Sir...we don't have heavy lift capability and haven't for decades..we get the Americans to move us...That was in our parliment!! In front of camera's and everything! And people still look at him and say "but he has nice hair" or "he's good looking". WOW! No wonder he's trying to use obama playbook, he's trying to get elected even though he is not qualified in the very least. The other choice here is a hard, hard left socialist communist whack-job that doesn't recognise reality...and they are in opposition!! Pathetic.
  20. I heard on the radio this morning that the US mid term elections are tomorrow...really? I gotta get out of the garage and turn on a radio more often. Or the local radio station is right out to lunch which is an equal possibility. If it is, why is there nothing on here?
  21. And the one common denominator in all of them? FUGLY! The truck version of ecosport that trim posted reminds me of that x-90 thing somebody built a few years ago. Useless. If you take a micro car and take the trunk lid off so you have a 2ft square hole in back...THAT'S NOT A TRUCK! Remember the 86 ranger with a 7ft box? THAT'S what I'd like to see. I can't photochop but if somebody does the ecosport with a longer box, say 5-6ft minimum, I think that would be better. If you buy a mini truck, the whole point is that your current car can't carry what you want. (or why would you want a truck?) So, it's either make the "minitruck" a 4door like that eroch abortion which drives/acts/feels like a car...and carries as much as a car, completely negating the purpose of it's build, or, build it more like the mini ram (which is wow,FUGLY to the extreme) but has at least a semblence of a box. One other point I'd like to add (and it's really obvious on the mini ram) is, wtf is with boxes being so high you can't load over the side??? I'm talking full size or not, all trucks are so fricken high they can only be loaded from the rear it seems, and then with a high lift forklift! How do you swing golf clubs or a toolbox over the side of any new truck without having to drop it into the box the last couple of inches? Pet peeve maybe, but at 5'11" and bad shoulders, I have a hard time with new vehicles of any make. Wife bought a 2013 loaded edge and I can't imagine it as a "truck". I prefer to drive the old freestar as it has more usable space. Chop it off after the back seats? wtf? That's maybe 3ft x 4ft?...with no roof?...umm, yeah, that's not a "truck".
  22. We're getting rid of the last of our charger copcars here, the cops won't drive them anyway. Absolute junk from the moment they rolled in here. Good riddance and anybody who is pro-mopar I just laugh.
  23. Oh and as far as weapons go, I don't even own one and had no interest in getting one but now I'm thinking twice, might pick something up for protection in the home. Boys are 13 and 17 and already know proper weapons handling as I made them treat air-soft, nerf guns etc as real weapons so I'm not worried about AD's in the home. Pretty bad, been professionally handing weapons for over 30 years now, but don't have a FAC or whatever it's called now. Of course I'll have to take the one day course to learn how to hold a "gun". LOL
  24. Now the left wing radio 95.7 in Halifax is putting various muslims on the air to ramble on about how they are not all radical and one is even saying that just identifying the killer as muslim is racist! REALLY?? If he was a Christian they wouldn't of mentioned it...OF COURSE NOT, CHRISTIANS AREN'T GOING AROUND KILLING PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST!!! One guy called in and said not all muslims are terrorist's (and the announcer was agreeing, "yeah, yeah,") then he said but all terrorists are muslims..there was a second of silence and then "ok we have more callers here" and cut him off. Talk about biased one sided media! If anyone blames Harper (many here do) then they let them drone on for ever, but if one defends Harper, "ok we have to move on, next caller". So lets go over again how many are beheading/shooting/knifing/various forms of killing for "their religeous beliefs" Let's see....Sihk...umm none, Jew...none, Christian...none, Buddist....none, muslim..DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Hugh, the IRA/Balkans were land wars that took on a religeous slant after. The others had a common denominator..muslim. We have to pull our heads out of our collective butts and recognize danger when it spits in our face. There is only one answer, but it's not politically correct.
