$750 rebate available to everyone
blwnsmoke replied to blwnsmoke's topic in Explorer, Mountaineer, Sport Trac Forum
Correct, it is entered before it is mailed out. My rebate was entered on 1/25 and Ive yet to receive the brochure. All what is needed is for it to be in the computer. -
I was debating between the flex and explorer and going with the explorer. However, during following the flex forum for quite some time, there was a thread about requesting a flex brochure via ford.com and people were getting a $500 rebate that was inserted in the brochure. I figured, what the hell, I'll give it a shot with the explorer. So I requested a brochure (has to be via mail, not downloadable) and went into the dealer a few days later. Stated to him I requested one so I'm waiting to see if I'd get the rebate. Well he was able to pull my name in the system and low and behold, a $750 rebate was in the system available for me. Dealer doesn't need the brochure now or the rebate coupon because Ford already added it in the system. So if anyone is looking to purchase one, I'd recommend them to order a brochure. The special rebate is running till sometime in June (computer showed the expiration date.. 6/24 I think). Anyways, when you select the timeframe you are looking to purchase, select one longer then your actual period. I selected 0-30 days because I'm ordering any day now however because I chose 30 days, they put a 60 day exp on the rebate even though it runs till June. So I just had my wife request one for the 1-3 month period to make sure it gets delivered before it expires. This can be used with Xplan.. Hope this helps.

3.5L EcoBoost Engine
blwnsmoke replied to Toby2005's topic in Explorer, Mountaineer, Sport Trac Forum
I keep asking myself the same thing. If not the ecoboost, why not have the 3.7 in there instead of the 3.5??? Having over 300HP is a great advertisement and I think the power is a little lacking in the explorer. -
I just want to chime in on this comment. FWD is not even close to AWD regardless of tires. I've owned/driven all types. I have an F250 4wd and an audi A4 quattro (ordering a limited explorer 4wd to replace the audi). I've also had several fwd cars. The AWD system will outperform any other type of system out there. All 4 tires propel the vehicle unlike 4wd and fwd. There is barely anything an awd vehicle can't get through without spinning the tires... Even with very good winter tires on a FWD car, you are still trying to pull the weight of the vehicle with 2 tires and that just doesn't equal all 4 tires pushing/pulling the car. Not only that but on turns, an awd vehicle will push the car into the turn where a fwd vehicle can continue to go straight when you are trying to turn. What I love about the explorer 4wd system is it is close to awd.. it can change the power from the front to the back tires by as much as 90%.. not only that, when driving slow and turning into a parking space or driveway, the 4wd system will disengage so you don't have the front wheel hop one has on a typical 4wd system. It will also help your resale value by having 4wd. As far as coloring goes, I saw a white explorer with pecan inserts at a dealership, I personally loved it. I think that's the color combo I'm going to go with. I've had 5 vehicles since 1998 moonroofs in all of them. I'll never get one without. Having it open, fresh air coming in.. cruising down the highway.. nothing like it. As another person said, cooled seats + remote start = no issues with black leather. Best of luck with your decision!! Either way, you are going to love your vehicle.

11 Explorer Trailer Tow Package
blwnsmoke replied to Sgt1411's topic in Explorer, Mountaineer, Sport Trac Forum
When I was at the dealer, he pulled out the ordering guide and from what I could make of it, 20's got you 2,000lb towing. It didn't/doesn't make sense to me.. I thought it was 5,000lbs as well. Makes more sense that with tow package, it's 5,000lbs. I'm looking at the brochure now and it says "with optional class III trailer tow package, also helps explorer tow up to 5,000lbs" My apologies, I must have misunderstood the order guide with all the charts and grids etc. -
11 Explorer Trailer Tow Package
blwnsmoke replied to Sgt1411's topic in Explorer, Mountaineer, Sport Trac Forum
I would, you never know what may happen in the future.. Always better to have it then to not and have to go aftermarket. I love how it is tied in with the rear cover so you don't see it until needed. Nice clean look. Downside..... I can't believe it only has a 2,000lb tow rating with the limited 20's. I'll contradict myself and say.. what's the point?? lol. It's good for an aluminum trailer with 2 snowmobiles and that's it. Regardless, for me, it's a must. Whether it be borrowing a trailer to bring my riding lawn mower into service or bringing my snow blower to the dealer etc.. I'll always find use for it. Just my $0.02 -
If you click on "window sticker click here" in my post above, it will load the window sticker that I used for comparison. This isn't the vehicle I actually want but it is close so it's a good example of the price differences. With researching the advertising fee, it seems that they are $400-$600 alone so I see where Xplan is a good deal. I'm going to try to get the dealer to match the xplan pricing so I can use the $500 rebate as well. Will be going back probably this weekend to talk some more. The vehicle I'll be ordering is Limited 4wd, 302a, white tri coat, pecan inserts, polished 20", dual panel moon, class 3 towing, splash guards, 2nd row bucket seats, 2nd row console, all weather floor mats and inflatable seatbelts (if available). Invoice $44,642 plus adv fee should put it around $45,100. MSRP is $48,655. I just did a little more searching, found a vehicle with an MSRP of $49080 and xplan is $45,682. So based on that pricing difference, my xplan should be $45,100- $45,200. I think I'll go into the dealer this weekend and offer $45,000 OTD and see if they will bite.. There is no tax so it may be doable. They are making $1,500 from the holdback selling at invoice.. We shall see.

How did you build an Xplan vehicle? I know of fordpartner.com where you can see xplan, but it only shows you the starting price of each level, not with added features. I did a search for vehicles in inventory on fordpartner and it showed me xplan price.. I then built the same vehicle on NADA with the same features to show invoice. Example - This is the most loaded limited in my area Winder Sticker click here X plan $45,171 NADA - Same vehicle with exact same options = Invoice $44,476 So invoice is $695 less. Then take the $500 Horse Association rebate and you are $43,976 saving you $1,195 under xplan. So even if they tack on $400-$500 in fees, invoice is still cheaper. Yes I can get invoice on it.. actually, I know a dealer that will give $100 over invoice and drop ship it to you (not the one I'm buying from). They also sell the Ford ESP's at $100 over cost.
-
I priced out a limited and it seems that xplan is about $700 over invoice. Being that one should be able to negotiate to invoice price, take invoice, pay the higher fees and then get the $500 rebate from the horse membership. You'd be better paying invoice, paying the higher fees and then getting the $500 rebate then getting xplan with lower fees (paying more for xplan then invoice) and not getting the $500 rebate.

Do they just fold in half or do they actually release and continue to fold up so the person can get out on there own? I know woth the bench, you pull the lever nd they fold, then pull again and they release and fold up. Im sold if they fold and release up on there own.
-
Can you elaborate on this auto fold feature and how it works?

Thanks everyone for your replies.. I don't think it looks nearly as nice in the brochure as the link that was posted. I was turned off by the brochure but really love the look of it in the link. My wife and I had our first kid back in August so we're trying to make the right choice.. Being we'll have a carseat in there, that means anytime we go out with another couple, one will always be in the 3rd row where with the bench seat, they'd be able to sit in the 2nd row.. I was thinking about the storage as well.. Being able to keep things in there for the kids.. Ughhh.. decisions, decisions..

Anyone get one with the 2nd row buckets with center console? No one has one in my area and trying to see what it looks like. Thanks

I apologize, I just looked at my post and saw the email address I wrote had two r's in ford. Not sure if you typed it in based on my posting or realized it and only used one "r". Only other thing I can think of is he doesn't work there anymore, last time I used him was about a year ago but still have his email saved.

Email Joel at jhawley@tworiversforrd.com I found him on another ford site. He sells all warranties for $100 over cost. Got mine from him for my 6.0L. Everything done over the phone, he mails you the paperwork, will do the zero interest financing as well. Top notch guy, he quoted my ESP price and later told me he made a mistake and quoted me for the 5.4 gas instead of the 6.0 Powerstroke which I believe was an additional $400. Well he honored that price so he lost money on me but wasn't going to go against what he told me. I'd highly recommend him.

Thanks for the reply.. we dont have scales anywhere in my area. I did check the tire manufacturers website and the tires are an E rating, max load 3750lbs per tire. I checked the specs on the factory 18" tire option, 275/70-18, also E rating, max load is 3640lbs so it would seem there are no issues with weight since the 20s have a higher max load rating

I have a 07 f250 harley edition.. Love the truck, have almost 53,000 miles on it with the only issue being one bad injector at 32,000 miles. I have been searching and searching to find out if I can plow with the factory 20" rims. I have heard that I can't because of the payload. I checked with my local dealership and didnt get any straight answers. I am out of warranty so I dont care about that. I just want to make sure I am safe and won't have tire/rim issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

So I get this letter in the mail today. it states: "Announcing Two Upgrades For Your 2007 F-Series Vehicle. Extended New Vehicle Limited Warranty Extended Roadside Service Assistance" "Ford Motor Company is pleased to announce major improvements to both the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and the Roadside Service Assistance feature for your 2007..." Specifics: Diesel engine warranty remains 5/100.. Other Powertrain components extended from 3/36 to 5/60 (wasn't this already the case??). $100 deductible for diesel engine repairs is eliminated for all 2007 model year vehicles with a diesel engine. Safety Restraint is extended from 5/50k to 5/60k. Roadside is extended from 3/36 to 5/60. Got a new warranty book with the letter. Anyone else get this?

Just a minor update. I received a survey in the mail from Ford regarding my purchase experience lmao. It's as if they were just asking for it. I was completely honest and gave good scores for the things that I liked and bad scores for the issues I had with the dealership. I then left my comments at the end regarding the dealership, the fees and how I have contacted the BBB. Two days later Ford called me regarding my survey, left a message stating that they have documented what I wrote and gave me a case number. She then stated to call back if I want to discuss it further. I wrote it down but haven't called back yet. I will call back probably tomorrow to talk to them about it. Do you guys think I'm wasting my time to call and ask if they'd be willing to refund the $299? I know the money didn't go to them.. but I see they are now offering $6k in rebates on 2007's and I got $4k. Being they are offering $2k more, I would hope that they would say as a good gesture we'll refund the $299. Now I'm not holding my breath.. but just a thought.

Here is an update. The DMV responded back basically with an automated message giving me a link to file a complaint. I never heard back from the Attorney General regarding the email I sent him. I did receive a BBB response saying they approve my complaint and forwarding it to the dealership. The dealership replied back about 1 1/2 weeks ago (I was on my honeymoon and got back yesterday so I was not able to check till then) stating that their "service department might have overlooked it and if they did indeed, they will refund me the $199 for the VIN etching" So I'm at least going to get the $199 back In regards to the $299 fee, they stated essentially that again, they AG has made law that they are to charge everyone the fee and that they can't waive it. They also stated that they have told me this time and time again.. that they "hold customer satisfaction in the highest reguard" and have gone "above and beyond" essentially what they needed to do. I wrote back stating that I accept the $199 refund and I would agree to drop the rest frankly because I want to move on from this. My bank has refunded me the $500 while the dispute is going on however I will tell them to cancel the dispute once they refund me the money. I stated the following in my response: "In regards to going "above and beyond", and that you "hold customer satisfaction in the highest reguard" seems far fetched in this instance. Covering up paint chips, writing an email which I took offense to, stated so in a reply and no reply back, having my email ignored by the general manager, the phone call and message I left on the GM's answering system ignored, being lied to about the VIN etching after inquiring about it while you had possesion of my truck for 7 days to fix those paint chips, requesting a refund of the VIN etching while you had it only to have that be refused and have the etching still not performed. I fail to see where "going above and beyond" and "hold customer satisfaction in the highest reguard" In regards to the $299 doc fee, you may have told me this many, many times (3), however with all the above issues, I have a hard time believing this. I have not been able to find any law through phone calls placed and internet research. With 3 phone calls to FORD, not one person is aware of this law and continues to state I am owed this back depsite you saying FORD has allowed you to charge this fee. In fact, FORD reimburses $75 for documentation with Xplan pricing so you've collected $299 + $75. With the research I have done, the only related law I could find is as follows: STATE OF CONNECTICUT AMENDMENT LCO No. 8595 General Assembly January Session, A.D., 1997 Offered by SEN. PENN, 23rd DIST. SEN. CIOTTO, 9th DIST. To Subst. Senate Bill No. 427 File No. 194 Cal No. 167 Entitled: "AN ACT REQUIRING DISCLOSURE OF THE DEALER PROCESSING FEE." and the only paragraph that I believe pertains to this is: EACH DEALER SHALL PROVIDE A WRITTEN STATEMENT TO THE BUYER OR PROMINENTLY DISPLAY A SIGN IN THE AREA OF HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS IN WHICH SALES ARE NEGOTIATED WHICH SHALL SPECIFY THE AMOUNT OF ANY CONVEYANCE FEE CHARGED BY SUCH DEALER, THE SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE DEALER FOR SUCH FEE, THAT SUCH FEE IS NOT PAYABLE TO THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT AND THAT THE BUYER MAY ELECT, WHERE APPROPRIATE, TO SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR THE REGISTRATION AND TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF THE MOTOR VEHICLE WHICH IS THE SUBJECT OF THE SALE TO THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES, IN WHICH CASE THE DEALER SHALL REDUCE SUCH FEE BY A PROPORTIONAL AMOUNT. THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES SHALL DETERMINE THE SIZE, TYPEFACE AND ARRANGEMENT OF SUCH INFORMATION. I am understanding this as that if I'm getting charged the fee, I should not be charged the whole amount since I am registering it and transferring the registration with the state of NH on my own, not the dealership. However, I agree to move on and close this issue with the $199 refund.

LOL, I do not believe this is the correct thread for this. Stay on topic!! j/k PS - check the other thread.

I just bought new door speakers for my 2007 CC harley. Can someone assist with the steps on taking off the door panels? I haven't done it before on a Ford truck so I don't know exactly what to do. Thanks

bbf.. thanks for all your feedback on this. I have to have a good sense of humor.. Here's how I look at it.. It's not costing me anything to battle this financially.. I can't really lose anything more.. only gain so I'm in it for the long haul. I just went to my bank.. Talked to a very nice woman.. explained how I was charged for a service that was never done.. I have an email saying it hasn't been done when I requested pictures of the work.. and I have had it verified by an indepenant mechanic that there is no vin etching. I also explained about the fee.. I had put down $500.. I am disputing $498 which is the $299 plus $199. I want to be fair and not dispute the full $500 as they are owed the $2 difference. The dispute has been made.. the paperwork has been signed. My bank is going to reimburse me the funds while the investigation is done and will contact me with the results. Lastly, the bank employee couldn't agree more with what I did.. she said she'd do the same thing. In the event that there is some law out there that I have to pay this fee, I will gladly pay it. Until then, I'm done dealing with the dealership. With the AG, BBB and my bank, I will see how it works out. Should have the funds in my account next week. Now I'm curious on whether the dealership will contact me.. they can't avoid me anymore. It's pretty disturbing that the GM/owner told the internet manager to email me. After the long email I sent him, the message I left on his answering machine.. he decides to have someone ELSE EMAIL me. There can be 3 outcomes with this 1) I get the money back and it gets taken out of the dealerships account 2) I get the money back and the dealerships bank eats the $498 (depends on how much business the dealership does will determine this) 3) The reversal gets reversed. The dealership wins and they pull the money back out of my account. If anyone else can find anything on CT law regarding this, I'd appreciate them chiming in. PS - I hope they aren't expecting all "completely satisfied" on the survey.

I'm not asking for legal advice.. but I'm debating on contesting the charge on my CC. I had my truck inspected today (NH law) and asked if they could find the VIN etching. We walked around the truck and still there is no VIN etching so it's not just me being blind. I know I can contest it with my CC company.. paying for services that I never received.. I'd prefer for them to come after me which i'm not sure if they would being they know they are in the wrong.. I could also contest the $299 doc fee as I paid them $500 for the two of them without any signature on my CC authorization slip. I don't want to resort to this.. but I'm thinking it's the only way. I'm waiting to see if the attorney general calls me back... Ps - Did I mention I love this truck?? lol
