  1. There is a reason why there are 2 active, seperate threads concerning Ecoboost engines fuel mileage discrepencies for both Fusion and Escape. And there have been several threads here and elsewhere about low fuel economy on the F-150 EcoBoost. In the real world, with the variables I described earlier, have a greater effect on these motors, in particular in devation from EPA numbers. The numbers are in fact achievable. The problem is both the EPA testing is outdated and that Ford, rightfully so, touts this as an ECO engine so people think they should automatically hit the numbers in all conditions. What I am trying to say there is more potential devation between meeting EPA numbers and what people are actually experiencing on the EcoBoost engine: they can be very efficient in ideal conditions, and also very inefficient taking consideration into many driving factors. A naturally asperated engine, in most instances, has less potential for such a large gap in MPG.
  2. Wind movement (wind chill) does not affect ambient temperature. The only use for wind chill ratings is for humans, what the temperature "feels like" with the wind factor. I can say in my instance the fluid was not frozen.
  3. I understand the concept of why you may want it on for defogging. The compressor can't mechanically run under 38 degrees, and what I am trying to say is I do not want the compressor running, that's why I override the setting. But it's not behaving.
  4. Yes, I had the same issue. Clearly states in the owners manual about a low washer fluid message. Snipped that from the manual along with the issue and sent it to the dealer. On another note I also reported that the "A/C" indicator in MFT is actually turning itself on every time the vehicle is driven, after it's been overriden off previously. I am sure it's been happening all the time but I hardly ever look at the climate screen in MFT. It was 18 degrees the last 2 mornings I have noticed this.
  5. It's a combination of a few things......one of course many of these new Escapes still have 5K miles or less. The city mileage is greatly affected by accelleration which involves the TURBO which eats gas. The highway mileage is affected by high speeds, hilly terrain, and weather conditions. This body style (2012 Focus is the same way), doesn't like speeds over 65MPH, the gas mileage over that speed drops greater than any other vehicle I have owned. Most people drive faster than this on the highway, and many speed limits are now 70MPH. On top of all of these, just plain driving habits are so varied between individuals (including warm up time, acceleration, looking forward to stop lights for coast down, idling while sitting in parking lots, etc). I think any of the Ecoboost engines have the capability to get the advertised numbers, it's just the Ecoboost engines are also GREATLY affected by driving habits. For example, my parent's 2.0EB AWD which is still new and goes on short trips with warmup idling is lucky to get 22MPG. They got around that with their V-6 Edge. I drive 85% highway, never over 65MPH, coast to stoplights, accelerate moderatly, and idle the engine just for a few minutes on very cold mornings only. I have a lifetime average of 28MPG over 12K miles. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/csvt2060/escape
  6. Just heard they are also running the 30 second "phoenix" commercial. Much better. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/02/lincolns-second-more-traditional-super-bowl-commercial/
  7. Here is the document you are referencing as posted in the other thread....no wait This all just makes zero sense. I have used the brake WITH the start button to exit remote start mode EXCLUSIVELY 100's of times until this morning. We will see what happens now.
  8. You and I did the same thing, found out that in fact that the remote start can be exited by simply hitting the start button this morning. Now it seems like one of us that tried it has had the same stalling issue as the original stalling member, as posted in a 3rd topic. Wonder if ours will start acting up now. Oh well, something else I will add to the list.
  9. I know it was posted before but I don't care. It was posted here becuase it's a problem and has been reported to the dealer as such. It does not work as it is printed in my owner's manual. Features that are supposed to work as advertised but don't. Why would we want the heated seats to not come on when remote starting? Why wouldn't we want the headlamps on when it's lighly raining? You are confusing the "A/C off" when it's cold and really ON, and the MFT bug that started with 3.5.1 where the MFT A/C light and HVAC control are not syncronized.
  10. Damn....guess mine will be going in for the same thing, because I did the same as you this morning after reading here in curosity, remote started it and then pushed the start button without using the brake and was suprised the engine didn't shut off. Went into "drive mode" fine and just got back for the day. Wonder if it will now act up next time I use the remote start? Did it have to do with you allowing the remote start to "time out" the next time you used it? There is definatly some poor engineering going on here. That's what I need, another thing to add to the list of problems with this vehicle. Thanks for letting us know. Now I know the document they are providing that was posted by the other guy is covering their butt while they scramble for a fix before they get sued for stalling vehicles.
  11. I have no idea who Will Wheaton is.....nor do I care. They would of been better served to use the 1:30 MKZ ad that aired a month ago....the one with the old lincolns in it, the clay model of the mkz......that would reach the soul of many more people. What a waste of 4 milliion.
  12. All I know is the delays have been pathetic lately from this company....I don't care the excuse or reason. They need to get these processes under control, it's not fair for the customer or the dealer that doesn't have any inventory to sell Even more of a slap in the face is the Lincoln commercials still on their youtube channel that say "delivery in December" which at the time was conservative because it was supposed to be out before then.
  13. Doesn't matter....there is no link to this and what has happened to you. There is NO WAY to drive the vehicle in remote start mode. No gauges, no shift out of park, no movement of vehicle. If it did let you do this, that is still a problem. It should not give you any ability to drive the vehicle in remote start mode. It's almost like this document is covering their butt for something that may be malfunctioning with the remote start system, possibly allowing you to drive the vehicle. But you said you never remote started the vehicle. Seems like something is definetly amiss here......
  14. Groan.....really a wierd commercial. Until I watched some of the basis of how they made the commercial out of people's actual stories. Which most people watching the Super Bowl won't know about nor care. I think people will say "what the hell" and move on.
  15. Another update, got the vehicle back after 1.5 weeks but no resolution to the issues. Put new pads, did the TSB for the front caliper brackets, brakes still squeal. Put a new power latch in the tailgate, still rattles. They can't tell where the rumble in the rear end is coming from. Long story short they are requesting a FSE (field service engineer) to come out as there is 9 outstanding issues with this vehicle that they cannot resolve. On top of that, I found out a few more items that are not operating correctly: -The low washer fluid message doesn't work, ran out of fluid the other day. -Heated seats do not work when remote starting (owners manual entry below) In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats and heated steering wheel are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors are automatically turned on. -HVAC climate in MyFord Touch and HVAC control a/c on/off status readout do not match -memory seats/mirrors do not respond to outside number pad (owners manual entry below) 4. For memory recall feature, enter the sixth digit 1·2 to store driver 1 settings or 3·4 to store driver 2 settings. -headlamps ("rainlamps") do not come on when wiper selector is in interval (rain sensing) position (owners manual entry below) Note: If you switch autolamps on in conjunction with autowipers, low beam headlamps will illuminate automatically when the rain sensor activates the windshield wipers continuously.
  16. There are only 3 DTC's there. All the other garbage is what they put in OASIS as symptom codes. P0103 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit High Input P025A Generic DTC: Fuel Pump Module Control Circuit/Open U0109 Lost Communication With Fuel Pump Control Module Sounds like something went haywire on a module or a computer issue. They just fed you a bunch of BS with the "remote start" theory.
  17. This is pure BS too.....the dealers need support from Ford since as you stated "it's all software". Until technicians become computer programmers they can only resolve something when Ford gives them the tools to do so.
  18. What a terrible attitude here. So just because another company doesn't give a damn means Ford shouldn't either? What a crappy world we live in where we should expect poor service and no resolution on a 30K+ vehicle. Give me a break.
  19. Not correct. The indicator lit is false. The MPG did not change because the A/C wasn't really on. It's a MFT bug. If you push it on and off it syncs with the climate control interface below, that is after the first push it resyncs and works like it's supposed to.
  20. Replace the Front Disc Brake Caliper Anchor Plates with new service parts
  21. I drive the vehicle every day, 80 miles a day. It sits in a dry garage overnight. I have had the brake squeal since 5K miles and I have never had these type of issues on other vehicles. In other words, either the pads they are using on these are crap or there is a design flaw with the brakes. The dealer tried to fix the problem by replacing the rear pads, and then doing the TSB on the front calipers. Still does the same thing.
  22. There is no way this vehicle could be driven in remote start mode. It won't let you shift out of gear, none of the controls work (wipers, turn signals, gauges), MFT is not lit up, and it says "remote start mode" in the IP display over the top of everything.
  23. There is no way this vehicle could be driven in remote start mode. It won't let you shift out of gear, none of the controls work (wipers, turn signals, gauges), MFT is not lit up, and it says "remote start mode" in the IP display over the top of everything. It's crap you were treated this way and you should call Ford directly with your legitimate complaint.
  24. The differences in readout, like I spoke about in the other thread, are a MFT glitch with 3.5.1. Mine started doing the same, where it wasn't syncd with the actual climate control, after the update. The "outside temp" issue is prevelant in both the Escape and the Focus, they have some fuzzy logic going on, like looking at vehicle speed, and also converting celsius to fahrenheit, which is why you never see certain fahrenheit temperatures readout, in other words it skips certain numbers. Some of the negitaves of being a "world car" is reverse engineering for the US market. Anyways, this is how the logic pans out disregarding the MFT issue: When in auto or defrost, under 50 or so degrees even though the A/C compressor is being used, the displays show "a/c off" I guess to curb customer questions why it is running a/c when it's cold outside. Well why they do this is to keep the cabin windows from fogging up. What I do every time I select AUTO but want to be assured the compressor will not be activated, is toggle the a/c button so it shows "on" and then toggle it "off" and then it won't let the compressor come back on until you select AUTO again. A trick I found having an engineering background and taking note of actual compressor activation and display differences. Hope this helps someone.
  25. I agree. Burning expensive gas, adding pollution, etc just to talk on the phone? Heh.......not a great answer.
