Interesting that you mention the PRO.  There's a new Menards being built in my small town that is adjacent to an Electrify America charging station.  I saw one of the contractors working on the Menards building charging his Lightning PRO at one of the Electrify America stalls.

In the Meijer parking lot?  The Meijer store by me also has EV charging stations.

Thank you and your co-workers for their efforts. We currently have 4 Edge's within the immediate family.

lol...sadly we veiw the Maverick as "affordable"...this may give away how long Ive been in the business, but I recall we had Rangers advertised ( no A/C ) stick shift std cabs advertised for $8995........scary...probably explains my crotchety nature at times...lol.

"affordable" is relative. Yesterday, it only cost me $11K to take delivery of my '24 Maverick Lariat.  Of course, that was after trading-in my '23,,,,,,,

Yes and it’s clear that Ford did not think through the ramifications of its proposed dealer upgrades,

how do you punish dealerships that are not permitted by local authorities to do those upgrades?
Sounds like a good legal case to me, excluding franchises from accessing products is not a good idea.

The argument was never about dealers not wanting to sell EVs, it’s the $1.2 million cost imposed by Ford to get access to it BEVs that was the issue. Having charging facilities is important when you’re serving BEVs but so too is working with local authorities to make power supply available - perhaps an exemption for power used to charge BEVs at their dealerships?

This recently happened in Illinois.  https://pantagraph.com/news/state-regional/business/illinois-ford-dealers-win-ruling-against-automaker-s-ev-certification-program/article_7450c04c-8af4-11ee-92d8-2b5b6c3bb24e.html

I suspect what is happening in charging EVs in the EU is a repeat of GE's experience when they supplied their salesforce with Volt company cars- Instead of charging at home at their cost, they fueled up like usual at the gas station on the company credit cards! Given that fleet sales dominate the UK market and probably all of Europe, PHEV drivers may be fueling on company credit cards instead of charging at home at their expense?

Having had a company car for 30+ years, with unlimited personal use, and all gas paid for by the company, why would I choose to pay for the charging at home, unless I was getting compensated?

  6. Better they spend that extra 3 hours playing Solitaire on their desktop PC, as I've witnessed walking into a Dealership,,,,

Dealers may have less economic incentive to sell electric vehicles. Buzz Smith, a former Chevrolet car salesman who now helps train dealers to sell EVs, says it can take much longer to sell an electric car than a gas-powered one. A gas car, he said, might take no more than an hour in a single visit to sell, yielding a tidy commission.

But for electric vehicles, “it was usually four visits, an hour each, before they would buy the EV,” Smith said. Customers want to make sure they understand the technology, how to charge it and more. “So I’m volunteering to take a 75 percent pay cut — and no salesman wants to do that.”

Not much difference in the Great White North. When I take the F-450 to the mall, it normally requires 4 spaces. The spaces are only as wide as the truck and with the front bumper at the front of the spot, the rear tires are on the back line, so I hang into the space behind by about 3 feet. Couldn't open the doors if I only used 1 spot.

    Ah yes, the 4-spot straddle,,,,,

Wonderful. Now there will be more people that don't have a down payment using the tax credit as a way to purchase an EV they can't afford.

I have often thought Ford Plant closures often coincide with plants with real estate value. Some examples:

Edison, NJ Real Estate prices were growing. Land became a shopping center.

Atlanta, Land highly desired by Atlanta and Georgia for the Atlanta Airport.

Norfolk, another high value area sold for $14 million for a mixed use facility.

Twin Cities sold to a developer with intent to build 3,800 housing units.

Wixom became an RV center headquarters and a Menards built as well.

Contrast to Chicago, still open, in an area surrounded by long closed factories with no redevelopment plan.

Let's not forget St Louis assembly,,,,,,
