  1. I just started the lemon law process and the Ford rep flashed the Expe with this TSB as their last attempt to fix it. Anybody know the specifics on it?
  2. NickCarbon, Sorry to hear that story. Damn thats a bitch. I'm glad yours is fixed though, hopefully it wil hold up for good! Well the Ford Rep had ours for 3 days this week, and put 500 miles on it. He claims the tranny is fine. Even though the Tranny mech at the dealer told him exactley what its been doing, he says it did nothing while he had it.Hmmm Of course he spent most of his drive time on I-95, which is where we have had no issues at all. All of our issues are in town driving. He did run a new TSB before he even drove it though, the number is 08 22 7. Anybody have a clue what that one did? So now we are left with a truck thats we can never really count on. Realistically each time they have run a TSB or even when they changed the megatronic valve body, it has only taken about a week or two before it starts acting up again. Now, since we have given Ford the "final attempt" to fix, we have 60 days to see if its fixed, if not we start the second step in the process with the BBB.
  3. Thanks for the info Buzz. My wife has made up a timeline of the events as they have taken place. Hopefully we won't need it...
  4. Just started the lemon law process to get rid of my 07 Expe. The tranny is very unreliable with its quirks of slipping shifts and slipping completely out of gear when you try to enter an intersection... so we have had enough. The Ford Rep is looking at it tomorrow so I'll keep you guys posted. BK
  5. So its now been a month since they changed the electronic valve body and its a little better. However it still hesitates and slips out of gear sporadically. We started the lemon law process and the dealer is getting our truck tomorrow for the last attempt. So, lets see what the Ford Rep says when he drives it tomorrow. I bet anything in the 2 miles he drives that it doesn't act up and we go to arbitration.
  6. Just got your post. I'll email you tomorrow sometime. BK
  7. Back from the dead...- Well 2 more visits to the dealer and so far it still slips 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and now has added a 3rd issue. Several times it has slipped into a neutral area at a dead stop and then required about half throttle to get moving. Which is not a very pleasant feeling when you are trying to pull out into traffic... So once again its at the dealer and they will have it all week again. This time they wouldn't even give us a lender to drive either. Such BS. I think the lemon law is the only way out of this one.
  8. Yep. But along with the slip its started a neat little neutral out as well. Its done the neutral out about 6 times, basically, we try to pull out from a stop and the truck just sits, it doesn't go till you give it about half throttle, then it jumps into gear and takes off. Kinda nerve racking when thats the vehicle I carry my 2 kids in...
  9. Well its back in the shop again, and again for a week we don't have our family transportation and now the service tech says the dealer doesn't lend or rent out vehicles while ours is in the shop... The trans guy is changing the valve body this time. Wonder how this will end up...I think our next step is inevitable, the lemon process.
  10. That was in Truckin magazine several months ago. I just can't recall the builder right now... sorry. BK
  11. I personally would go for the 08'. I have an 07' that the tranny issues didn't until around 17,000 miles. I hav'nt heard of to many 08's with tranny issues so far.
  12. How does one start that process? I really like the Expe, I just don't think I want to drive it past the warranty if you know what I mean. Who knows what it would cost to fix if I was paying out of pocket...
  13. Updated, two seals did nothing.... Still slips, just now they don't seem to hear or feel what I'm feeling. Not even when the tach jumps almost 400 rpms between shifts when it slips...
  14. OK, the latest. After the last service visit 19k mileage, the dealer drove my truck around town for 2 days and claim that the tranny never slipped once. We got it back and the next day it slipped twice in one drive into town... When I say "slipped"- the rpm jumps up 200-400 rpms between shift in the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. When it jumps up it hangs for a second then goes into the next gear. I'm not sure what my next step but this morning I went out to crank it up to pick my kids up from a sleepover and when I put the key in and turned to the first position, the whole truck went to sleep. The securilock light flashed and nothing else was happening after that. Of course the owners manual suggests having serviced by the local dealer but thats not gonna get my kids picked up any faster... What will this $35k truck surprise me with next? Sorry for the rant, I just miss the truck I traded in for the Expe, it was 03' Screw Lariat that never had one visit to the dealer for anything other than an oil change...
  15. So what was the outcome? Mine still has tranny issues after its 3rd visit for slippage between shifts...
  16. Busser- how many miles/KM do you have on the 08 now? Our tranny was fine for about the first 7-8000 miles then it started acting up.
  17. ELlover- I have the same love for the vehicle overall. We are getting a little over 15mpg during the weekly commute, Florida flatlands! So I can only really complain about one thing, the inconsistentsy of the trans must be fixed.
  18. The latest, ours spent a week at the dealer for TSB 07-5-5 to fix the rpm flux between the 2-3 shift. We have had it back two weeks now and it still isn't completey right and its kinda unpredictable when its gonna shift right or awkward for lack of a better term. So I'm going contact the dealer againand see what they want to try next. On the other end of the spectrum we are knocking down 15-16 mpg in all city driving each week. Not to bad for the big ole bus!
  19. Ours spent a week at the local dealership for TSB 07-5-5. Replacing 2 seals was supposed to fix the rpm flux on the 2-3 shift. We have had it back a week and it is still slipping the 2-3 shift. We are going to drive it a couple more weeks and give them another shot to get it fixed.
  20. Service writer just called.. They are pulling the tranny to repair 2 seals. Uh oh, here we go.
  21. 2 issues here. approaching stop signs or turning right on red, the tranny never makes it back down to 1st gear, sometimes it tries to start from 2cd or 3rd. The other issue is rpm jumping up 1000 to 2000 rpm between shifts when the engine is cold. Coincidentally the Service rep just called and they are pulling the tranny to change out 2 seals. Evidently the program changes are not working... Damn it.
  22. Anyone else? We are thinking of making the downsize step from the Expe to the Edge or perhaps the Explorer.
  23. 14k now on ours and when its cold (first start of the day usually) each shift from 1st through 3rd will over rev the engine about a thousand rpm before the shift will take place. Throttle position effect's it a little, part throttle is bothersome but heavy throttle is scary sounding. I'm calling service writer for a service appt and follow up on the trans condition now. I'll post his response after the visit.
  24. "Next time you take a road trip, once you get the cruise set, hit reset on the MPG and then you'll get a better idea of what you're getting. I got over 21 mpg in my 07 Expy with the AC off and the cruise control set at 65 mph on a 200 mile road trip a few months ago." yep, that was it, Thanks for the info. Now if I can take care of the shifting issues it has developed, we'll be in business! BK
  25. Made the first real roadtrip with the Expe. Mileage over 7k now and it produced 20.4 mpg heading up I-95 with the A/C off (it was cool outside) and the cruise engaged. Whats odd to me is that the information system only computed around 16 or so while the long math on a Mc'ds napkin with the cell phone calculator came up with 20.4. No matter, the Expe did well on the trip and I am still very satisfied.
