  2. ........." We pause to remember and to reflect and to reaffirm. We remember that the rights and benefits we enjoy today weren't simply handed to America's working men and women. They had to be won. They had to be fought for, by men and women of courage and conviction, from the factory floors of the Industrial Revolution to the shopping aisles of today's superstores. They stood up and they spoke out to demand a fair shake and an honest day's pay for an honest day's work. Many risked their lives. Some gave their lives. Some made it a cause of their lives -- like Senator Ted Kennedy, who we remember today. So let us never forget: much of what we take for granted -- the 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, health insurance, paid leave, pensions, Social Security, Medicare -- they all bear the union label. It was the American worker -- men and women just like you -- who returned from World War II to make our economy the envy of the world. It was labor that helped build the largest middle class in history. Even if you're not a union member, every American owes something to America's labor movement..............Like so many Americans, you work hard. You meet your responsibilities. You play by the rules. You pay your bills. But in recent years, the American Dream seems like it's been slipping away, because from Washington to Wall Street, too often a different attitude prevailed. Wealth was valued over work, selfishness over sacrifice, greed over responsibility. The right to organize was undermined rather than strengthened.........So today, on this Labor Day, we reaffirm our commitment. To rebuild. To live up to the legacy of those who came before us. To combine the enduring values that have served us so well for so long -- hard work and responsibility -- with new ideas for a new century. To ensure that our great middle class remains the backbone of our economy -- not just a vanishing ideal we celebrate at picnics once a year as summer turns to fall. We want it a reality for the families of Ohio and the families of America. " Barack Obama labor day speech.09/07/2009
  3. We the people of the Ford Motor Company U.A.W membership are the last strong hold for the survival of the U.A.W. It is this vote that will determine the future of all UAW workers,Ford Chrysler etc. and even non union transplants. We the Ford motor company UAW will change the history of American labor for ever should these changes take place. And it will have a major affect on the caw negotiations taking place as we speak. It is OUR VOTE,OUR VOTE! That will determine the way The American auto industry and the uaw-caw do business in the future. This is our Bunker Hill,Midway and Alamo . Battles that changed history. And my friends this is a battle. Think very deeply about this. We have before us the decision to Vote no and save the uaw-caw and pretty much all labor of north America. Or vote yes and watch the auto industry and for some the government slowly eat away at us like a cancer destroying us from the inside out. The perfect battle plan. Do you like were you live?,do you enjoy going on trips when you take your vacation? Do your children sometimes need a helping hand when they cant pay there rent.Do your grand children enjoy the gifts you get them on there birthday or at Christmas? Can you live on your savings and retirement when you cant work anymore? All of this will change in the not so distance future if this passes. With all of what we have done for ford so far and with all of the Obama changes in health care and many other changes in government to come .Ford will be just fine. Vote no and renegotiate a better deal! This is corporate greed at its best.Don't be fooled. Ford is a leader in quality, innovation and is now profitable two quarters in a row in the u.s..Should we be the ones that make ford a leader in union destruction?! I DON'T THINK SO! VOTE NO AND GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE UAW MEMBERS THAT SAVED ORGANIZED LABOR AT THE LAST AND HOPEFULLY FINAL BATTLE!
  4. If this passes ,here is what we have to look forward to. From Apr.29, 2009 http://www.canadaka.net/forums/business-f2...you-t82955.html
  5. Take not from the mouth of labor the bread it as earned. Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) Third president of the United States.
  6. I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!
  7. Joe Hill: If the workers took a notion they could stop all speeding trains; Every ship upon the ocean they can tie with mighty chains. Every wheel in the creation, every mine and every mill; Fleets and armies of the nation, will at their command stand still.
  8. I'm on the other end of the spectrum.Ive never had a flu shot.I'm 50 yrs Sr. and Ive been exercising regularly all my life. I eat a good breakfast every day,a lite lunch and a reasonable dinner.Ive taken a daily vitamin ever since my mother started giving us the chewable cartoon character vitamins and also now a low dose of omega three with a low dose aspirin.I think because of my healthy life style my immune system does a pretty good job at beating off the bug. Maybe Ive been lucky. or maybe i just do the right thing.

  10. I think you all should see this. http://www.casttv.com/video/1kqtuy1/doctor...-his-kids-video Did he say mercury level is 25000 x's that of water and food? This video shows a serious side affect from the shot.Last night on the news they said it was the h1n1 shot not the seasonal one. http://www.casttv.com/twitter?topic=%22swi...u%22%20OR%20Flu This video doesn't show how badly this affected her ability to walk as last night on the news did.
  11. It is becoming more and more clear to me that certain individuals have been placed on these forums to try and sway the membership into a yes vote. These individuals must have been promised some kind of compensation such as ....a cleaned up attendance record....a cash payment.....Hell i don't know ! All i know is nobody can possibly be that blind as to think for one second that this is a good contract for the membership unless they are getting something out of it. I have been busting my balls looking up information on arbitration, baseball arbitration, examples of contract disputes using arbitration etc. etc. etc. And it never ends up good for the employees.EVER! Ford has been lucky enough to have employees that have been willing to take a hit for them to keep them ahead of the competition. WE the membership are the sole reason why ford did NOT have to file bankruptcy. And now, after all we have done they want to bend us over and screw us royally with a contract that is sure to cost some of us our homes , savings and or 401k's. This contract is so bad its almost like they made it so ridicules that we will vote it down and re negotiate and settle for a contract slightly better. ONLY AN INDIVIDUAL WHO DOESN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES WILL VOTE FOR THIS CONTRACT! UNLESS THEY ARE EXPECTING SOME KIND OF PERSONAL GAIN FROM THE COMPANY. VOTE NO!
  12. The wording is purposely left unclear. When the question of wages arises the company and the uaw will disagree. The arbitrator will come in and decide the meaning of the wording and it WILL lean the company's way. Arbitration is not a gift to the uaw.Its a curse. And once its in place it will never go away. The DEERE corporation has had arbitration in its contracts from the beginning and what a ride they have had. You do NOT want a contract with arbitration EVER! And yes ,even though it doesnt say anywere that our wages can be lowerd, its an unseen given. If you vote for this plan on down sizing to a smaller home and what ever else it takes to adjust to a lower standard of living.Oh and once we agree to an unlimited # of lower paid new hires, by the end of this contract(5-6 yrs?) we (seniority people) will be out numbered and any contract that gives them a little more money and a tasty signing bonus will surly pass.Just another way to lower seniority wages.Study this intensely. Look up the definition of arbitration.Look up examples of the results of arbitration with other company s.Chat online with people that have gone through the arbitration process.Don't go in and vote blindly!

  15. "DONT GET ME WRONG. If the Nobel piece prize had been awarded to Obama NEXT YEAR it would hold a hell of a lot more weight than it does now. But to give it to him this year for nothing is a joke." Remember, the DEADLINE for nominees was two weeks after obama was elected.TWO WEEKS. All these things you mentioned would be for next year.
  16. Let me try...(quotes from various articles) "As a Community Organizer, Obama did many important things. Obama gave poor, downtrodden citizens hope for change, and later, even hope in change. He also hoped he could change things and changed things that needed to be changed. However, it is often overlooked that Obama changed the hope in change before changing the hopechange with his hope. The hope he changed, through change and hope, was hoped to bring the change that was needed as a result of hope. Hope change change change hope hopechangechange hope, hope change change middle class. Hope Diamond." Also "Obama was a Senator. Durring his distinguished four-year Senate term, Obama didn't chair a single committee or introduce a single piece of legislation. He also spent half of his term campaigning for President while neglecting his Senate duties. It should finally be mentioned that he voted 'present' more than he voted 'yes' or 'no,' showing his resolve and ability to make tough decisions. " According to the Associated Press, there were rumors consideration was being given to “…Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, a Colombian senator and a Chinese dissident, along with an Afghan woman’s rights activist.” Wow – that’s tough competition. It’s amazing that the president of the United States would be considered amidst such an august group of candidates. When Alfred Nobel wrote his will in 1895 he insisted that the peace prize should go “…to the person who shall have DONE(not promises to do) the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses.” One wonders if Nobel ever considered there could have been a year where the crop of candidates was so bad that the award would be given to someone who had accomplished none of the things stipulated in his will. Apparently when there is a year where the prospects are so bleak, the lowest common denominator wins. That doesn’t say much for the world’s prospects for peace. "The announcement from the Nobel Peace Prize Committee says as much about the Norwegian voters and their parliament as it does President Obama. All involved should be embarrassed and ashamed for using this Prize to advance a radical, leftist agenda." DONT GET ME WRONG. If the Nobel piece prize had been awarded to Obama next year it would hold a hell of a lot more weight than it does now. But to give it to him this year for nothing is a joke.

  21. Some excerpts from the article. UAW leaders will present the plan Oct. 13 in Detroit to the Ford National Council. "Ford Motor Co., seeking concessions granted to U.S. rivals, reached a tentative United Auto Workers accord that includes a six-year ban on some strikes and a wage freeze for new hires. Ford offered pledges for new production and a $1,000 bonus tied to quality goals, the people said. Strikes over wages and benefits would be prohibited for six years under the new agreement, while walkouts over issues such as plant safety would still be permitted, the people said. The plan doesn't include cuts to retiree benefits, such as vision coverage, that were granted to GM and Chrysler, the people said. The $1,000 bonus payment will be made to Ford workers in March based on meeting 2009 product-quality targets, one person said. In exchange, Ford is promising to put new work into two plants in Sterling Heights, Michigan, that make transmissions, axles and steel body panels for cars, the people said." I didn't see anything on arbitration but we will see.
  22. Its late and im tired and i don't feel like going back through this thread to see if you all have touched on this yet.Did anyone catch in the last minute or so of the Gettelfinger interview were the host asked him if he would be meeting with the Obama car team any time soon? He said yes he would be meeting with them next week. There's your third party arbitrator. And you know witch way that will go. Vote no and keep your house.
