  1. No,this is not my first agreement. Rather my 7th not including the 2 modifications. And u can believe what you want. All that i can say is that this friend would have absolutely ZERO reason to lie to me and has tipped me off to a few other nice tidbits throughout the years as he's come across them. I dont claim to know who the ad is for, could be Lear for all I know, but it does seem to be a fairly high dollar amount for Leer or the likes. And a full page ad would signify an immediate need for a lot of people. Just my take on the info ive been given.

A very close friend that works for Times just texted me that they received an order for full page ad in classifieds saying this: "Fortune 500 looking for help in the Auto Industry with wage of 20.00 dollars an hour. All applicants considered, previous experience preferred. Any experience as team leads may lead to higher wage." Make of it what you will, but it looks like we might have a fight on our hands.
  3. While I agree that the timing of the 'announcement' is somewhat suspect. What in this contract would make you think that place was staying open? The Highlights specifically say at the bottom of page 2, "Twin Cities: As previously announced, the Twin Cities Assembly plant will close with the balance out of the Ranger at the end of 2011." Seems pretty open and upfront to me. Damn, was right in the 'Highlights'. Can't even complain that it was in part of the agreement you didn't get to read. Please quit bitchin just to bitch or at least do a little reading before you do so you don't appear to be completely in the dark.

Stone Chairperson Update 5/25/11 Thanks to all the members who voted last week. About 70% of the active members voted. Please, take time next Thursday and Friday to vote in the runoffs. For our TLO's: TLO employees who have June eligibility will be paid for unused vacation and personal time less 16 personal hours in this period and the remainder in the next pay period. These payments are not wages and do not need to be claimed to unemployment We are waiting on the official timing on our TT Build (tooling tryout), the pre-production build and ‘Job 1’ date at the Louisville Assembly Plant were the plant can finalize plans for recall dates for the TLO's, Return Homes and the ILO's. Also, the plant is waiting for all the 'transfer of operations' from Kansas City and the posting of skilled and non-skilled jobs ‘out-of-zone' posting to be completed. This is affecting decisions of UAW members at Ford around the country including here in our own Region at the Indianapolis plant. Also, rumors in other plants about LAP manpower needs are getting ridiculous. Currently, the plant needs at least 80 additional tradespersons for a two-production shift and an additional 115 for a three-production shift. Of that number a total of 24 electricians are scheduled to start on June 6th and July 11, 2011 along with another group to start in August. LAP has put out a letter in the plant asking employees who know of qualified electrician to apply for potential opportunities. We will not be able to determine the number of jobs until the KCAP 'transfer of operations' is completed. There was a job posting recently for electrical journeymen throughout the country, including AAI, Indianapolis, Michigan Assembly, Milan, Rawsonville, Saline, Sandusky, and Sheldon Road. Only, one electrician accepted the posting. Eighteen electrical apprentices will be starting to take their physicals during the weeks of May 16, 2011 though June 6, 2011. Other skilled trade additions to LAP will though KCAP 'transfer of operations' and nationwide postings at eligible Ford facilities. As of May 5th, UAW/Ford has 7685 active skilled tradespersons, 495 at ACH plants, 284 in production and 36 on layoff. I have been in contact with other plant chairs and Presidents on a regular basis about our manpower needs especially with Dan Huddleston, President/Chairperson from Indianapolis whose plant is closing. Local 1111 and Local 862 are the only Ford locals in UAW Region 3, Ky/Ind. Hope all Laid Off Brothers and Sisters that want to go to Louisville or back to their homeplant get that opportunity really soon. Solidarity Forever!!!

  8. No, I was merely stating the stipulations tied to the enhanced moving allowance language. If you've never accepted the enhanced then the 36 month rule wouldn't apply. A lot of people don't realize that there is a time limit or layoff requirement before you can re-qualify.
  9. You do realize that if you haven't been at KCAP for at least 36 months or no one is laid off at your plant you can't qualify for the enhanced moving allowance($30K). Since when have you seen this company do what 'HAS TO BE DONE', as you put it, when it will cost double? Wake up you're not rolling in reality Twin!
  10. Oh, so you guys have already received the Transfer of Ops postings? I guess you're right. It only makes good business sense to move you for $30K and then me to replace you for $30K. When all they had to do was offer to fill the original spots the first time with Laid Off folks. $60K to fill one spot? Looks like them LAP postings are gonna end up being a mighty expensive endeavor for the company.
  11. LAP people had the opportunity to transfer because there were 600 jobs that went unfilled and they were out of SUB( ie. Laid Off). All but a handful reserved their RTBU rights and are now headed back. Please tell me how to interpret what it says if it doesn't mean what I said. Change in product with no reduced employment means transfer of ops SHALL NOT APPLY.
  12. Twin try reading your Master Agreement Vol. 1. Art. VIII Sec. 24B. It clearly says that the Transfer of Ops language SHALL apply to a plant that is closing or continuing on a REDUCED EMPLOYMENT basis. It shall NOT APPLY to partial transfers of ops. incident to adjustments in production schedules or CHANGES IN THE PRODUCTS AT ANY LOCATION. Reduced Employment you WILL NOT have, but a change in product you will. So you tell me. What is the intent of that language and what does it say? What you think should happen is...while you're working a full time job, with the security of new product announced, you should be able to transfer just because. While others out here, some with as much as 20yrs seniority, should sit out in the street while they run out of Sub & TAP and should be told to get in line behind you because you don't want the job you've got you want to cherry pick where you live. And on top of that, they should be made to wait another 2 years with NO manner of income to provide for their families while they wait on KCAP's retool to be complete to take a job you didn't want to start with? How Union of you Twin. Screw Brothers and Sisters with NO job cause you want to get back to living 6 hours away from where you originally came. I contend that you're dead wrong on what the language says, if you've even read it. And that ANY effort by either KCAPs local Union or the International to give you guys transfer of ops opportunities is purely political with NO foundation in the contract. Are your 2 hours a month somehow better than mine? The International MUST follow the letter of the Agreement and follow the Hierarchy of placement. 1. In Plant laid off / RTBU., 2. In Zone L.O. 3. Out of Zone Laid Off and 4. ACH locations. TRANSFER of OPERATIONS DOES NOT APPLY in this circumstance. And for the record, in 2006 I put KCAP as my one and ONLY Flowback choice. So No it has nothing to do with where I'd rather work, just that I'd rather keep working.

Can anyone explain to me how or WHY Kansas City would have the 1st chance to transfer to LAP when the company has released press briefings claiming that there would be NO job losses at KCAP with the new product? Especially when we have people around the country currently on layoff and/or facing a certain closure and layoff with no in zone plants to go to? T of O language was specifically designed to make job assurances to those members that were being told that their job was going to be LOST and moved to plant X. Not just because you build an Escape and so love it that you should be paid $30K to get to keep building it somewhere else while your plant gets new product with NO job loss. Because we here in Indy had our 'Operation' 'transferred' to an outside company we get NO job assurances or priority Transfer opportunities. The IUAW should live up to the letter of the agreement on Transfer of Ops. No job losses = No Transfer of Ops. If jobs, at LAP, are still available after the RTBU and laid off have been given an opportunity then by all means KCAP should be given an opportunity the same as anyone else.
