  1. there is no way to know how loud a person listens to their headphones/earbuds. Hence the ban, which LAP doesnt need as they have been banned for at least the last 20 years.
  2. If your earplugs block out more noise than your earbuds you can't have it loud enough to hear. I've worn both ( illegally) when I was on a job by myself where no other people or forklifts were in the body shop & there was no comparison to how much more I could hear with earplugs vs buds. The guy with the buds yesterday was on the line not in the aisle, he had his lunchbox on the empty rack & the driver was trying to get his attention to move it. Saw another where the operator walks in between 2 racks that are taller than he is, he walked in just as the driver was pulling empty out, almost got hit, driver didnt know he had buds in beeped horn but operator couldn't hear him
  3. You must be new to LAP, that has gone on for years. The company has the right to give you your break 6 minutes an hour if they want to as long as its an hour into the shift. Break is not lunch. We used to be on tag relief at LAP & probably will be again, so better get used to going at least 3 & half hours without a break if you have first or last break. if you have to go to the bathroom & you dont abuse it, thats what your upgrader is for.The union doesnt have to agree to them giving you break early, they can as long as its an hour in. And the above poster is right, utility can be used anywhere in the plant for any reason, thats just part of being utility, always has been.
  4. Earbuds, headphones etc...have never been allowed at LAP. I'm shocked they have been allowed any where. Thats a horrible safety issue. Some of the transfers into LAP have tried wearing them, I saw one yesterday that the hi lo driver was laying on the horn & the guy never even looked up because he couldnt hear him
  5. I have worked at Ford for 20 years & have never made 70,000 in one year. Once in the 90's I came close at 67,000. Where do you people work & how could anyone possibly make 150,000?
  6. Worked in the plant (LAP) for the last 3 weeks, they are still telling us March
  7. I think the point he is trying to make is everyone in the media says how the UAW is sucking the life out of Ford etc & some on here are talking about what all we have but the reality is we have lost big time over the last few years, people in my neighborhood who arent even in a union are doing better, & if the attitude of the media & some on these sites stay the same about how great we have it, we will never get any of our losses back & we will take a wage cut, maybe not in 4 years but assuredly in 8.
  8. Um sorry to bust your bubble, I am union all the way but my brother works at Toyota & your list does not match. They do get paid holidays, $27+/hr, 2 weeks vacation paid, sick days paid, more bonuses than I have ever received & since when was our overtime not forced ? Of course the only reason they get any of this is to keep the union out but your facts are incorrect.
  9. Local 862 president told us Wednesday it was not worth the paper it was written on & to expect nothing.
  10. Yes but then you will have to wait til Dec. 21st for your dollar :hysterical2:
  11. I dont know where yo work but my insurance was not loweredd
  12. When did it jump from 13 something to 15? And how many times will they open the contract before they get the 19 ?
  13. I agree totally but why are we surprised? Our union new hires are only going to be making about a dollar more an hour to start.
  14. As I said where I live is the same place others live who cleared much more. Anyway thanks to everyone for trying to help explain.
  15. Thanks, did not know all of that, no support payments, I claim 5 on deductions, nothing going in 401k, not really understanding the FICA part perhaps being laid off for a year affected FICA but people that I work with who have also been off during the same time & live in the same county cleared 4 to $600 more.
  16. If this is taxed the same for everyone as a bonus at a certain rate how did you clear 3800 & I clear 3200? That means they only taxed you at around 37%, it has always been 43% in the past, mine is 46% this time, what gives?
  17. No we were told that the shift that got laid off would be called back to cover a good portion of night shift & the 3rd shift would be new hires with only a couple hundred people coming from other plants. Again I dont have a problem with them coming, just wish we had been told the truth.
  18. Don't understand why people would be offered to transfer if they are not laid off, they had about 16000 fill out applications. People at LAP are already ticked off not because brothers & sisters are getting to come but because they were told hardly any with any kind of seniority were coming, people bid on jobs before the shutdown they would have never bid on if they had known people with seniority were coming from all over the place & will roll them off of dayshift. Again welcome to all who are able to come, but the union should have let the current people at LAP know this before it turned into the mess that it eventually will.
  19. I don't understand why it would posted at anyone's bank yet when it isn't even payable until tomorrow.
  20. No it's not normal procedure, worked at Ford 25 years, no one's name has ever been on our jackets. Just the Ford & UAW emblems.
  21. Its probably because the cleaning lady at the glass house less credibility than a date that doesn't exist. LOL
  22. These are the same buyouts that are in the contract, they just wont have the "packages" ready to offer until January. This is nothing new.
  23. I searched all of the Ford articles I could find on the Detroit Free Press going back 3 weeks, I didn't see it, if anybody does please post it.
