Employees from St. Thomas and Windsor were canvased for transfer to the greater Toronto area and only 200 plus people elected to take transfer, so remaining jobs were put out for hire off street. therefore the people who elected not to transfer are still on lay-off with another 500 cuts coming in 2014 from elimination of the 5.4 in windsor. what are people waiting for?

any new news for oac? have all the transfers arrived and any new hires?

when they canvased for job transfer to gta, they only got just over 200 of the 400 needeed for third shift and tag relief. being as they did not get enough people willing to transfer they are now going to street. as a result of this, packages for members to leave are also pulled off table. next package will be offered in 2014 when 5.4 is discontinued in windsor and will effect approx 500 and will only be offered to windor employees, so that will possibly add to number on lay-off. dont understand why people on lay-off didnt accept transfer but that is their option.

We here in canada do support the efforts of the UAW we just go about business differently here. the whip sawing has to stop or race to bottom will continue. make a stand next contract and we will all succeed. reason our contract is 4 years this time is so we dont negotiate at same time to compete against you next set of negotiations. good luck in 3 years.

Trim I am sure the member who started this thread was looking for info on canadian locations for possible transfer. You are not helping anyone here with your senseless commentary. Please read the the topic header and if able to add anything anyone can use please do so. Other than that you are an inconvieniance and reply just to get a reaction. My apolagies, i had honestly thought they had already moved the escape and thought louisville had finished their re-tool.

I believe that it will be produced in Louisville , Kentucky where the escape is currently being built after the move from Kansas city assembly but i could be wrong.

Two people have passed away and people resort to stone throwing. I can only speak of our Sister from Bramalea, a wonderful woman who left 2 young children behind. We all have the responsability to work safely so we can rejoin our families at the end of our shift.

Great idea, maybe even put one of their children to work beside them so they will have something to talk about over dinner and get a real idea of a working mans/womans day to reflect upon. Call it executive boot camp. A little bit of reallity could never hurt.
