The e-brake cables need dielectric grease smeared on them where they go through their brackets. The bracket is a metal wire loop in front of the rear wheels. I've also tried PVC tape where the cable passes through the bracket but motorcraft xg-3 dielectic grease seems to work the best. Only happens on the 08's for some reason. The bracket design hasn't changes in years, but the 08's are the ones customers complain about.
  2. Junk, junk, junk. Glad to see it go. Everything was so cheaply made and designed. That six cylinder had more problems per unit than the 6.0. At least in my experience. Forget about manufacturer support for the mechanic too. Diagnostic software was practically nonexistance. We've had one on our lot now for over two years. We love it because we all use it to pick up furniture and move and whatnot. So they're junk and they can't sell them, sounds like a winner to me.
  3. A reduction in consumption due to being forced to. It would stink to not be able to fuel my vehicle due to the cost. Imagine the annual fuel cost of your focus today equalling the annual cost of fueling a V10 tow rig five years ago. Talk about a lower standard of living. Even if the cost of every other good didn't go up (which it would) your standard of living would go down just due tripling your fuel budget. Now I'm not a fan of CAFE, but the benefits of getting better mileage can't be ignored. Maybe we can have our cake and eat it too, cheap fuel and good mileage.
  4. I thought the euro focus would be available late 2010 as a 2011 model, and the 2010 Focus would be a carry over from 2009 with upgrades. I'm wrong on this? 2009 production ends 6/26/09 so that would be a lot of idle time, or am I misunderstanding "early 2010."
  5. I like it, everything about it. Showed it to the wife. I feel kinda dirty though. The front end looks soooo Camry. I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. The headlights alone, c'mon!
  6. Sorry, but apparantly it needs more. The Fiesta needs more r&d too. American engineers need their hands on this car before its brought to market. F of E cars just aren't ready for the NA market immediately. I don't know if everyone remembers the 2000 Focus problems at launch. I'm sure a lot of people will defend this car, but working in the dealer I remember differently. 22 recalls total and 11 within the first year. I don't think Ford wants this to happen at the Fiesta launch too, or the '11 Focus for that matter. I remember some days that's all it felt like we were doing was Focus recalls. Please Ford, take your time! Sorry for keeping the thread hijacked.
  7. There is a great example of a turbo coupe that comes in once and a while. The only problem he has is ring seal, it throws rich codes due to fuel in the oil. He still drives it and it still runs great. The super coupe 3.8's are a whole other story. A lot more power than the turbo 4's and a lot more beating by owners. Can you say head gaskets? I don't even want to think about head gaskets on the ecoboost. Don't think it can't happen, just look at the 6.0 diesel. It still happens, even with modern engines and gaskets. An 09 Taurus. Had two with less than 5,000. The customer notices a lack of heat, obviously due to low coolant level. Its been common. I've heard the Edges do it too but I haven't seen it. Timing chain driven. PAIN IN THE ASS. It payed about half what I had in it the first time. Learned a little, than payed about 75% what I had in it the second time.
  8. I believe the 2010 will be the current American version not the European, yes? I would love, love, love there to be a performance model with the four cylinder and six speed out of the 2010 Fusion. That and flex fuel. You can do it, you should do it. Please! Its just off the shelf parts and new software. All this in a coupe of course. Sign me up!! A lot less engineering would go into this than the electric mule Focus you guys just made. That was six months, this would be like two weeks! Hardly any investment at all. The Fusion will get, what, 34mpg hwy. 1000 less pounds we should be at 40 I would think. With 35 more horse and one more gear. :happy feet:
  9. A boosted gas engine will not last 200K without major repairs period. Even a diesel for that matter. Guarenteed. And expect labor to be extremely high. I just did a water pump on a D35 and it was a complete joke. Serviceability issues abound. If they do last thats great, but if there are quality issues, especially at launch, expect a major hit to resale value. Think t-bird super coupe. JUNK!!! Trust me, I want this to be a quality product. It looks like it'll be a blast to drive, and I love that there doing unconventional things in the high performance arena. I just hope I don't have to fix them under warranty regularly. Looks like a nightmare that Ford won't pay me my time for.
  10. Martin Luther didn't break away, he was kicked out. He wanted to reform the Roman Catholic church, not leave it.
  11. The Edge has a similar problem with their "chrome clad wheels." The wheels corrode severely around the wheel lip and the chrome plastic whatever cover thing starts lifting off the wheel. We've replaced many under warranty. They just start looking awful!
  12. "If you bring your brand new F-150 back to the dealer and the transmission is knocking after only 10,000 miles logged on the odometer, no surprise would it be if they don't cover the cost of getting it fixed." Do you have experience with this? I am a mechanic at a Ford dealer and let me say this is not the case. Unless there is complete owner negligence bumper to bumper is honored. Sometimes the customer needs to be told it is a normal charactaristic of the vehicle though. If you are having problems getting a vehicle repaired under base warranty at no charge to you find another dealer. Obviously that dealer doesn't like warranty work. (I could possibly see why, it pays about half of what you have in it a lot of times.)
  13. Yeah, then they'll complain that the car moved up a class and can't touch one for less than $20K.
