  1. Because he doesn't have to. The 65 and force out is gone..
  2. I take that to mean 4 10's and Friday off? If so, I wouldn't mind that.
  3. ....ask Sellout Scott what he did to piss him off....
  4. What a contribution...thx. That number is also skewed a weee bit. No one talked for 10 minutes at one of the question mics. Get out from under Lindsay's skirt would ya.
  5. Let's not get into Lindsay and her bullshit. She was speaking for more then 2 minutes, and she wasn't asking questions. She was making a speech. The fact that she said we should stand with the UAW and turn down the contract was a joke. First of all, the CAW, and the UAW contracts are different. Secondly and more importantly if you're going to support a union, shouldn't it be the CAW? Funny I didn't hear her say to support the GM/Chrysler members who voted in favour. There's a reason she wasn't voted into office.I'll tell you something tho...My advice to her, and any of you that hate this deal so much, and can't stand the crap anymore....Take the buyout in 2011 so you won't have to burden yourselves with this anymore.
  6. That's the biggest bunch of bullshit yet. There was absolutely nothing that could be done to save STAP...ask your sellout reps.....they were told to their face there's nothing you can do, it's in the books. I have people in places to. Know what tho, think what you want.
  7. The 1600 weren't lost with this contract....they were lost a few years back. Ford has never once said that STAP might not close. The results of this contract did nothing to alter the inevitable.....
  8. Two totally different contracts. Can't compare.
  9. So when are you going to rudely wake me up? Every plant passed it with flying colours. Cooler heads prevailed and people actually thought about the big picture.
  10. Again thx for stating the obvious. The Old Ford didn't respect it much either.
  11. Don't forget if you have a spouse, kids, you can also do rrsp's for them. There's other things to that I don't remember at the moment. My neighbour is the wiz when it comes to this shit. He works for the gov't. I'm pretty sure that there'll be a seminar, or some form of schooling for those in this situation. Best thing to do is educate yourself so that most of that money goes where it belongs...to you.
  12. Nice post.......I agree no one is safe right now and that's why Ford has us all bent over. You're right, Ford isn't going back to the table if this gets turned down. And it wouldn't take 2 months to clear OAC. Everything in Body is on skids already, that are bolted to the floor....cut cut cut goodbye. I deal with ADHD every day....lol You and me both....just trying to get to the finish line.
  13. You guys threw yourselves overboard last contract when OAC turned it down, and you guys and Windsor made it go through. Now OAC/windsor are the bad guys if they pass it? You really expect these 2 to say no when it's not going to do anything to save STAP, but give them a chance at future products?
  14. No shit they'll be back. Thx for stating the obvious.
  15. I guess it depends if buyouts come to OAC. If it does, I'm sure there'll be openings. Either way you've got 2 years to decide that don't you?
  16. Stop with your crap. They didn't pit anyone against anyone. St. Thomas was dead long before this deal was even thought of. The only option for the CAW to do was limit the damage as much as possible, get future to the remaining plants, and good severance for the fallen plant....which they did. As for your 3 years bullshit....we work contract to contract, and have done so since the union's inception. This is no different. Next time tho we may be in better shapre as the economy should be thriving by then.
  17. Can I ask with all due respect, what do you expect? How many people not working for Ford get a $125k buyout should they chose so? How many people get 2 years notice that they'll be out of a job? While it sucks that STAP is closing, which has been stated for how long now, but the severance is pretty damn good. As for scare tactics...I don't know of many people willing to risk their jobs to try and call Ford's bluff. It's a different scenario these days. We don't have The Auto Pact anymore so there's nothing holding Ford here. Will Ford leave if we don't pass it? Definitely possible. Will they leave even tho there's concession, still possible. As for the commitment. There's nothing guaranteed in the Auto world. In case you don't know it, we work from contract to contract, and have done so since the union formed. So of course we'll be doing negotiations again in 2012, but the scenario could be a lot different, if the economy?Ford is going well. We are not in a position of strength right now and Ford is taking advantage of this, which I would also do, if it was my company.
  18. I personally think you're better off taking care of it yourself. You need to talk to people that know where to hide/invest money so you don't get dinged on taxes. My neighbour who works for the gov't said it is possible to do it.
  19. You people do realize this is Ford Motor Co right? The CAW doesn't own it and are not the ones closing the plant. To say the CAW has done nothing for you is an insult to anyone who has lost their jobs and not received $125 000 in severance pay. This sense of entitlement in the Auto Industry is sickening. The fact is that we have good paying jobs, and still have great benefits for another 2 years....How many jobs in the real world give you 2 years notice? I'm no raw raw union guy, but to say they're a disgrace and don't fight for us is very shortsighted.
  20. The UAW's contract is very different to ours. You can't base the two together. quotes from a stateside...... You're entitled to think the way you want, but if you honestly think the CAW is selling us out, you're sadly mistaken. Regardless of what happens with this vote, STAP was/is still going to close.
  21. You forgot this part..... Ford has also committed to providing funds to set up an action centre to assist workers who are unemployed as a result of the closure. The commitment for the new global platform is huge for OAP, meaning they will become one of 7 assembly plants in NA. Also means that they will be going on 3 shifts when the platforms in place and the economy turns around. STAPers need to find out if they'll have preferential hiring at OAP, or even Windsor. OAP will need approx 1000 people for a 3rd shift. The 10% commitment is actually better then the projected 8% when Stap closes. STAP was/is closing regardless of these negotiations. All you could hope for was a good severance, preferential hiring etc. Oh and you can hide that big payout. You need to get in touch with the right financial adviser. Anyway, I'll be at the meeting to hear the details before I start screaming good/bad indifferent. From what I see so far, I'm voting yes. I also look at it this way. We elected our representatives, and they in turn negotiate the best contract they feel they can get. For any of you to suggest that these guys are doing something to screw us is kind of lame. I don't buy it. All the reps from all the plants agree with this contract. One last thing...I saw someone refer to the UAW having balls, and us being the pansies....I say to you, that our proposed contracts are different. Good luck to all over the weekend, and remember if you're unsure about anything ask questions, and listen to what is said before making your final decision. Oh and Ed...take a downer dude. I know it's frustrating but name calling and such gets all of US nowhere.
  22. 4000 tranny's won't even last a week. Apparently, from what I've heard, is that the tranny cases are made in India. Don't know how true it is, but that's what we've been told.As for blaming VanDyke, I don't see anyone blaming them. It's one of your suppliers having the issue. Can't build them if you don't have the parts.
  23. That is exactly what they'll be looking for. I'm doubting there'll be any extension to 2012. Ford wants to run only 7 plants in NA...STAP won't be one of them and if you want to have the slightest possible chance of being one, a No vote will kill that. Everyone needs to get educated on what will be included in this contract before making a decision. To say No right now is very shortsighted. I'm guessing the new contract will contain plant closure packages and preferred hiring to other plants, namely OAC, for those affected. A No vote will see STAP closed within 6 months IMO, and OAC not to far behind it. People need to wake up and see the big picture. You've got 2 years of a well paying job with benefits, and hopefully a good closure package, or you get the boot in 6 months with no more benefits and a crappy package. For those who think Ford won't shut down a line of vehicles because you're the only plant that builds them needs to think again. Ford was selling 70,000 Freestars a year when they axed them completely one day. They could still be selling them today. Again it always comes back to this.......If you OWNED FORD, what would you do if this gets turned down? oh and a special thx to Muldummy for ditching the Auto Pact...
