  1. No doubt. line work suck's! Any little thing that can help those folk's! as simple as a fan or a matt, yo yo adjustment ect!. Maybe some of our older skilled trades need a little refresher course of say; 5-10's on the line? I know I did my 20 month assembly line refresher before hitting my tools again. it sucked!. My hat is off to our line workers! I always swing by and check on my old assembly friends. actually it brings trades and production closer. weird but true!
  2. yea theres a bunch of us here at the cleveland site signing.( old casting plant) MW 's with 12-16-96 is in production here. I'm signin with 1-19-99 and I'll be a looooong shot! gotta play to win though! good luck to everyone!
  3. these were the numbers we heard at our local meeting this morning also.
  4. bump was posted 2-17 for start tomorrow. 4 fitters from cleveland to report to sandusky.
  5. you should be getting 4 PF next week from cleveland. Since the casting plant closed I would think we have around 80 trades in production, maybe more?
  6. if your trades at cleveland it does'nt sound good! we will wait for conformation and not start $tuff. I'm sad and hope other locals with a pair respond! our trades in production probably did 85-90% NO!
  7. I'm skilled in production. I'd like to see retiement packages upped to 150 K skilled and 125K Production. Payed in increments over 3 years! You can have my signing bonus payments for this! pay skilled in production there wage. like GM and Chyrsler! christmas bonus for retired and 2% on retirement. I'll go after COLA and other next round!
  8. once ya go to the line ya won't need your tools! takem home, clean them up real nice and have a beer and look at your box in the garage after a good day's production! many more of you are headed this way! Ya just don't know it yet! see ya on the line!
  9. the only tradesman that will vote yes on this contract will have his time in. It will get him/her in the end. Multicraft will get them quite busy when there short on a trade!
  10. I guess he has never worked trades? I suppose he would be quite surprised what a few competent trades, especially electrictions can do to put a halt to the ballgame? 3-4 days downtime with the right sparky is no problemo! Seeing baffaled engineers is quite funny. A plants trades KNOW far more than plant engineers make no mistake! we may know soon enough! and I would'nt worry about anyting running when your gone! unhappy trades turn into a shitstorm as most of ya know!
  11. have a GOOD LOOK at production jobs in your plant! You'll be there soon! My plants production workers are great folk's they helped in every way they could till I got up to speed! This contract if voted in should see at least another 20-30% reduction of trades going to production! simply read the langauge! our plants trades chairman sent emails clearly pointing this out. I hope your's did also?
  12. it also looks as though we will have to bid on any new project work if I understand the contract language? trades will have to make a business case for any new project work? DOES NOT LOOK GOOD!
  13. you would only get your trades pay if outside contractors are are doing your work at your plant. Thats only if you catch them and file a grievance! Really I have no doubt this will happen in the future. Contractors doing our work with us on the line!
  14. as a tradesman in production. I can NOT support this offer. so that's a NO VOTE here!
  15. I take that back! They RELOADED SUB PAY! that is the ONLY THING in this contract offer to benefit layed off trades! at least in black and white!
  16. after reading for hours in the PDF format link of the contract. I can NOT support this contract offer. I'm skilled working on the line. I'm glad to be working but, I see nothing in THIS CONTRACT to benifit layed off trades! I understand everyone has differant views on the contract offer and will vote with they're needs in mind.
  17. I've read a good deal of the contract! I did'nt see anything to benefit layed off trades. More than likely outside contractors will do new project work and you'll earn trades pay on the line while there on your site. Sadly. I like many others will have to vote NO on this contract offer.
  18. well back in 99 my hire in date it was made perfectly clear to me what happens at lay off. I accepted that. working on the line suck's. Not as bad as not working at all though! we all have our cards though and can pay dues and work out of a trades local if works available! That's something a production worker layed off to the street CAN'T DO! Hope for new product!
  19. I did hear that the IUAW fought so hard to keep our legal services ( free ) attorney's was because their IUAW bussiness expense cards were funded fron those law firms? Is that true?
  20. one thing to think of with the NEXT generation will be OUR retiement benifits! Who's to say once the Company has enough of the low tier workers voting we can't loose retirement pay and benifits? this kinda bothers me as I plan to go before 20 yrs. on a SER when the plant goes down?
  21. ILTR. We heard the rumour a few times about 2012. No one can verify it though. I'm not sure how we can get around the new tuff EPA regs though.with our old coupula's/stacks. We had the new clean coupula's project around 70% finished and they pulled the plug on it and anounced our closing. Maybe the EPA will bend over a bit on this? It would be nice for us to go a couple more years. We have a down week next week (CCP) for a few Dept. and a small group of tradesman. We had some prodution and a few trades transfer to O.A.P about 7-8 months back. good luck everyone.
  22. O.A.P is probably a safer bet than C.C.P.for the long haul. Were supposed to be done in 12-10. I'm not sure of our engine plants 1&2 future, they may be a bit better. I'm sure we have friendlier people at the Foundry though. Our equipment gets pretty beat up compared to assembly plants though thats standard in grey iron foundries and steelmills. Good luck to you guy's and maybe we'll see you in the future.
