  1. My sport has a lot of clatter on start up. Discussed with service tech who also sugested that some duratechs are noisy. I found it made more noise with synthetic then dyno oil. I know my harley makes more noise with synthetic then it did with dyno oil.
  2. I picked up two cabin air filters from Rockauto's website. They arrived within a few days and did the install. The origional one was full of what looked like mold. I disinfected the filter box and I am good to go. I suggest that anyone buying one get a few since I think they are going to be changed out twice a year no matte what the ford suggestions are. We have had so much pollen and rain that for the money changing is the way to go
  3. Does anyone know part numbers for the cabin air filter other then ford. I am having a problem trying to find one
  4. I have been driving my sport for one year and I have 17k miles. I am running about 23.5mpg for the past 1,000 miles with a mix of very short (less then 5 mile) around town driving and on the weekends some 70mile trips. On the highway, with the a/c and doing about 70mph up and down hills, I am slightly over 30mpg. Sitting in traffic is a killer with the 3.5, had the same issue with my 3.5 altima, good highway numbers (26.4mg) but in traffic it went down to 19.6mpg. I can't complain all that much about the sport's mpg. I am happy I don't have t run premium like the altima. My wife's 2.5 altima gets on avg about 28.9 overall with mostly highway and very little local driving
  5. This is an issue which has always been on the back of my mind. My altima (as well as my wife's altima) has an idiot light that goes on when there is approx 4 gal of gas left in the tank. However, the miles to empty has to read zero before the light goes on. The altimas have a 20gal tank. When I got my sport (I have a very early vin number so it is not a job 2 vehicle). First thing I notice is that 5 gal reduction in capacity is substantial. I really notice it on long distance trips. Normally I could fill up in NJ and then refill in western Ohio before I get into Indiana where the price of gas is substantially greater. Last summer, I had to fill up earlier. The big thing I noticed is when the "sign" tells me I at 0 or close to 0 miles left, I don't have a lot of fuel left. I don't think I have the idiot light (I think that was put in during Job 2) so I let it get to "0" and found that it took 14.723 gals of fuel to fill it up. Considering a 15 gal tank, I was cutting it close. I never overstuff the tank so when it stops I leave it at that. Now all I have to do is get my wife to understand there is a difference between our cars and she will never run out of fuel.
  6. I just picked up X-ice2 in the 225-50-17 in size mounted on 07 takeoff rims and in installed the valve mounted tpms sensors. I had been using Artic Alpines on my Altima SE and then last year put on the X-ice2's on the Altima. Unfortunately, I was using the 215-60-17 size tire which was substantially larger in dia then the size needed on the fusion sport and when I did a dry run over the summer, it was clear that the larger size tire was going to rub the wheel well so I will put them on my wife's altima. I used the x-ice over the weekend when I had the opportunity to drive in the slush with both the RSAs and the X-ice2s......there was a substantial difference so I am confident that they will be fine for the winter.
  7. I may pick up a piece this weekend after I finally throw on the winter tires
  8. I was thinking about doing just that and using some clear adhesive to hold the two parts together. When you doubled them up did you use any adhesive? I was thinking crazy glue type but I know a lot of plastics dissolve when you use this stuff.
  9. I went over to Home Depot saturday and looked at the heavy duty corner protetors and they didn't look all that strong and had a lot of flexibility in them. I didn't have the posting so I couldn't check the SKU number but is yours very stiff and breakage resistat or does it looklike anything strong would trash it?
  10. I am happy with the way sync 3 is working. It was a pain going from 2 to 3 so I don't think I am going to venture out and make the change. Last time I did it, I had all sorts of problems with the update until I figured out that I needed to choose the autoupdate to NO otherwise the phone would always disconnect. I really wish they would provide a better manual for navagation component of services, sometimes sync just doesn't makes sense
  11. When I did mine last April, it was a no brainer just plugged the BOW eliminator ahead of the ballast connection and right off the headlight plug that was inside the housing then connected the bulb connections to the ballast. If you connect the BOW (resister) after the ballast it isn't going to work correctly.
  12. Did you get the bow eliminators and did they work?
  13. I have to agree the stock floor mats are not very good. If your in an area where there is no snow or a lot of dirt, they would be fine but that doesn't work for me. I picked up weather tech floor liners (a little expensive) but they are a semi soft tray that covers the entire floor area from the front of the seat way up past he gas peddle and over the foot rest on the left side. I think they are better then the all weather rubber ones and are about the same price. Now all I have to do is find a better mat for the summer time, something a little longer and wider!
  14. I have about 8k miles right now. I dropped in a K&N filter last week and while I noticed a slight increase in city mpg, on the highway there really wasn't all that much of a difference. Will be taking a 700 mile round trip this weekend so I should get a good idea about how it is dong.
  15. I had them some time ago (back in the mid-70's) and they would rust and they also acted as a spacer so I could fit wider tires on the back without hitting the inside of the wheel well. For me personal preference is not to have hub rings or adapters if I can get my hands on factory take offs which fortunately I was able to do. As far as tire rack rims, they have their sport line which I really liked but at the time I was looking (this past april) the tpms issue was not resolved. I now understand that they have rims with the correct tpms sensors. Had that been available I believe I would have given very serious consideration to just getting a tire rack package and be done with it.
