  1. Three months in: Fusion Sport forgotten! Just returned from a 1000-mile trip in the Titanium sedan: *35 mpg at interstate speeds *nav system steered me around a couple of serious interstate backups *radar weather interesting & useful as I traveled through rains from Tropical Storm Lee *seats remarkably comfortable *PowerShift transmission great in mountains
  2. My cover arrived yesterday but long studs were back ordered; supposed to arrive next week. I agree that once the current stock is gone, there will be no more covers. If you want one, I'd order now.
  3. The only reason I'd suggest a weekend rental is to have more time with the PowerShift transmission. It has its own characteristics but that's not necessarily a complaint; just took me a while to adjust to it. I'm not referring to the button on the shifter. I like it. Don't know how much "power" your SUV has, and while I find the new Focus engine adequate, that's as far as I can go in describing it.
  4. Basically the same story here, which I posted here a month or so ago. My Fusion was a Tuxedo Black Sport and a great car. Even with the handling package, I can't really say the Focus handles better than the Fusion Sport. I'm two months into my Titanium sedan, which I like. A little better on fuel mileage than NSA; MFT screen goes black about every 3rd start up but I sort of expect that. Will do the update soon. Nit-picking, maybe, but a few things I really miss from the Fusion (and lots of other cars I've owned): dash pocket or bin to hide change and other small items; accessory position for listening to the sound system when you're cleaning the vehicle or working in the garage; and inside-the-car trunk release - nice when you jump out of the car in the rain to snag an umbrella, etc. Transmission: "OK" but after two months, I'd certainly go with a 6-speed MT (Focus ST in my future?) if it were available on the Titanium.
  5. Since I started this thread, I thought I'd update it. Going on two months with the Focus. Definitely liking the Titanium sedan much better. Mileage is indeed going up and am using (and enjoying) the Sport mode shifting. As I said earlier, I find the "button" on the Focus preferable to the shift gate on the Fusion Sport, and even more so than on my wife's Infiniti G35 with paddle shifters. The paddles seem oddly placed - not close enough to the wheel or something. Because the Focus is so quiet and doesn't have a loud exhaust note, it's easy to rev it high in first gear, which is there just to get the wheels rolling! I get the MFT black screen about every third time I start the car. Awaiting word on what some of you on this board have to say the latest software update.
  6. If I remember correctly, mine showed up about a week after the VIN number and about the same time as the build date.
  7. My car has all options except the color seat inserts. I've had it about a month but to be totally honest, I miss the Fusion Sport I traded. I missed the torque/power of the Fusion. Too many black screens that transform into "Performing Schedule Maintenance" The transmission, at times, seems to have a mind of it's own. Although I like the shift button on the knob better than the "gate shift" on the Fusion. Mileage hasn't been great, but I've only got about 1K on the clock, so I'm expecting it to get better. And, did I mention the rattles in the dash and sunroof? All that said, while I don't really want a manual for in-town driving, I may have to give the ST a serious look because of the power and transmission woes of the Titanium. I do get lots of comments about how good the car looks!
  8. Air in my Titanium sedan works great. Very cold. I'm guessing a charge & a check for a leak are in order. Understand about the Mazda3. My experience with several Asian cars, particularly Hondas of a few years ago, is that cooling was marginal. And it rarely gets in the low 90s where I live. However, the 2009 Accord couple I cooled fine.
  9. No problems here. I rarely used the "gate shift" in my Fusion Sport but I use the shift button in my Focus almost exclusively. The only thing that I've noticed is that first gear is very low; you have shift quickly or you'll be hitting 5K RPM very soon. To sum up, I like the the dual clutch better than I expected.

    Rattles

I can happily report that MyFord Touch is working fine but... The rattles in the dash and particularly overhead, around the sunglasses holder/ambient lighting controls, are driving me (pun intended) crazy. Anybody else experiencing rattle mania? Got a fix or suggestion, short of taking it back to the dealer? (Sometimes, as we know, that creates new problems.) Unfortunately, I feared this might happen with a new model/design, and I was spoiled by my 2010 Fusion: in two years and 35,000 miles it never squeaked; not once.
  11. Any recommendations on a dealership that does on-line orders? I too want to order a cover - my Titanium missed getting one by about a week. Plus, I'm thinking about ordering door sill plates.
  12. I signed for my Tech Rebate to come off the price of the car.
  13. >-like my Contour SVT, rear seat room is tight. May be a problem for the non-fanatic buyers, unlike those of us on this board, as it was for the Contour. Trunk too is very small. I don't think I even implied a comparison to the Fusion. The point, perhaps not well stated, was the Focus rear seat leg room, compared to the competition, might be a concern to buyers. My eyes were wide open in trading a Fusion for a Focus. I certainly knew it's a smaller car. On my comment about the new Focus's power compared to my SVT, I didn't consider the weight difference.Good point.
  14. First, this car replaced a 2010 Fusion Sport, which may have been the best overall car I have ever owned. My list includes lots of Fords, lots of Hondas, a couple of Mazdas, Lexus (LexI? - wife's cars) and an Infiniti G35 (wife's current ride) & a few others I've probably (thankfully) forgotten. So, I factored in the change from a Fusion to a Focus. Likes: -the technology. No real problems with MFT but I'm still exploring. -the Power Shift selector on the shift lever. I think it is more convenient & use it more than the gate in the Fusion. This was a pleasant surprise. -seats. Seem to be about as comfortable at the Fusion. I've had some back problems, so that's important. -dash/interior - rate it above the Fusion. -gas mileage - about 27 mpg on first tank of mostly city driving. -comments -several people have asked what the car is, who makes it, etc. They say they like the styling, the 18-inch wheels, the Ingot Silver. -got a fabulous deal & $1200 in rebates, etc. Observations: -like my Contour SVT, rear seat room is tight. May be a problem for the non-fanatic buyers, unlike those of us on this board, as it was for the Contour. Trunk too is very small. - glitch with ambient lighting. It won't hold the color I select, defaulting to light blue when the door opens or closes. -low beam headlights. Not as bad at the Fusion but should be better, given the price we're playing for the Titanium. - transmission does lot of "hunting' in Drive. See above on use of the Power Shift button. - it's new and not broken in but but it will have to improve a LOT to have anything close to the acceleration of my 03 SVT Focus. Only 10 hp difference but feels like a lot more at this point. Counterpoints? Other observations?
  15. Another AL question: Can change the color and dim with overhead buttons, but when I open the door, the color goes back to light blue color. Is there a "save" sequence to Ambient Lighting?
  16. With the concerns about MFT, this is OK! Knobs and push button switches have served us well for all long time.
  17. Anybody found Ambient Lighting control screen in Touch? When I go to Menu>Vehicle screen, I don't see anything that takes you to AL. Is it located somewhere else? I can change it from the overhead control, so it's really not that big of a deal.
  18. One of the few things that disappoints me about my 3-day old Focus is the head lights. I traded a Fusion Sport for the Focus with the hope that the Focus would be MUCH improved. I won't say at this point that the Focus isn't a little better, but the low beams don't seem to be a great improvement. The low beams on my 2010 bordered on being dangerous at interstate speeds.
  19. I think I may have posted yesterday that my ETIS said the same. It was built on May 18-19.
  20. Good points. Perhaps we'll get more info on this as time goes on. The engine cover makes the car look more upscale, but most of us don't spend a lot time admiring or showing friends a modern-day engine. They just don't have the same appeal as the old V-8s with chrome valve covers, etc.
  21. Haven't time to do anything with my radio except set a couple of radio stations. When I start the car, the radio jumps to another station, not coming back to the one I was listening to. Looks like a long night with the OG.
  22. Picked up my Titanium today. It was ordered November 11; built May 19. No cover. After that long to wait, I would have liked to have had the cover. But, I got such a fantastic deal, I didn't fuss at the dealer. Anybody checked to see if there is a part number, so we can order if we choose? BTW, ETIS showed that it would have the cover.
  23. No, I'm car guy. I have an 03 SVT Focus, so I didn't need another hatch. The 5-doors are great for families, those who need to haul large items, want something with the flexibility of an mini SUV, or an 7/8 scale Toyota Venza.
  24. After nearly 7 months, my Titanium sedan has finally arrived. Found out when I opened my email and found a dealer satisfaction survey about my purchase! Called the dealer and found out it came in after hours last night. Am on vacation and can't pick it up until Monday. What a long and strange journey this has been.
