  1. Salesman that sold me my 2018 Ford EcoSport claims that with C-Max production ending at the end of `18 MY, rumors are that `19 Escape will return with a Hybrid Option?
  2. With the cost difference between Regular 87 Octane Gasoline an Premium 91 Octane Gasoline, there is not going to be any significant improvement in either performance or fuel economy IMO to justify the cost especially with a Vehicle powered by a 1 Ltr, 3 Cyl Engine, EcoBoost not withstanding.
  3. It appears that the Instrument Panel Configuration where the Audio Display Screen attaches to the Dash look identical? Was thinking about having my Dealer`s Audio Tech Installer inquire about pulling out my Base Radio an simply upgrade to the SE Unit an Touchscreen Display? Basically looking to have the Sirius/XM Built In rather then an ugly aftermarket add on. Not interested in Built In Navigation or B/O or Harmon Kardon upgrade that`s available on SES or Titanium Trim. The Roof Antenna`s look identical too?
  4. When is Ford going to offer a Warm/Hot Weather Package? Sure, all Vehicles now have Air-conditioning as standard equipment but what about Cooling Seats as well as other features designed for the Tropics?
  5. It appears at least for the time being, all US destined EcoSports will arrive on the West Coast an be shipped by Rail across the Country. 30 day estimate for West Coast arrivals versus 60 days for Eastern Seaboard? Rail will be more cost effective an quicker then going through the Suez canal or going around Africa. I`d say that 99% of EcoSport Buyers will either find what they are looking for in the Dealer Stock or make a swap with another Dealer for the exact EcoSport your looking for. I had my Dealer in West Palm Beach, FL locate an swap for the EcoSport I wanted from a Dealer 140 miles away in FT Meyers, FL. Rather get my Vehicle in 72 hours with 145 miles on the Odometer then wait months for the Build & Ship. Might as well order a MY 2019 with that lead time.
  6. Just as I previously did with my 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid were I found a Emergency Spare Donut off a 2012 Fusion that worked fine, I now need to find a compatible Emergency Spare Donut for my 2018 Ford EcoSport. Not so much to hall around town daily but throw in the back for long highway trips. Seems there is but two possible choices to match with with the 4 Lug 108 mm radius Wheel pattern. 1987- 1993 Ford (Fox Body) Mustang 16`` Emergency Spare Donut or 2011 or earlier Ford Focus with 15`` Emergency Donut. Anyone have any better solution to the Air Inflator Kit an Can of Sealant Goo packed in the Trunk? When stranded, first think AAA asks, "Do you have a Spare Tire to Mount" or will they be towing it to a Tire Store or Ford Dealership. If the Spare Tire Wheel fits, I will use (their) Jack!
  7. Just took delivery on 1/31/2018 of a 18` Ford EcoSport in "S" Trim. Total with destination 21K MSRP. Got a $500 Automatic Cash Rebate plus used an extra $750 Private Cash Incentive which expired on 1/31/18 for a total of $1250 off X-Plan Price. Most Dealerships here in SE FL are heavy on Inventory of EcoSport in "S" Trim. Despite Ford`s prediction of most sales being in SE Trim with SES coming in second, Titanium third and Base S Trim last, the "Value" is in the S Trim if you can live without the Pushbutton Ignition an Power Moonroof. This is a small compact CUV that is a 20K Vehicle, end of story. doubt there will be many takers in the 24K to 28K price range.
  8. Depending on how "Smart" the Smart Key Replacement is (Push Button Start) Key Fob Remote or Simple a Regular Key with Lock-Unlock, Trunk an Panic Buttons, I`d suggest searching for a Second Hand one on Ebay. Replaced a few that way. Just the "Key" portion alone needs to be obtained from the Dealer since they are usually Laser Cut. It can then be inserted into the holder or Push-Button Flip Device. Of course the finished replacement still needs to be "Mated" with the Vehicle at the Dealership. Despite the fact that it can be accomplished in minutes using a Lap Top Computer plugging into the Vehicles Smart Junction Box an onboard Computer function control. That could cost you a 6 Pac of Beer or a couple hundred dollars itself depending on the Dealership an the Mechanic you get.
  9. Thanks to both CurtisH an yourself for the Info. Could`t find it anywhere. Saw where someone Posted that the 2018 EcoSport was about 100 lbs heavier then the 2017/2018 Honda HR-V. Curious why the Honda with a significantly larger displacement Natural Aspired 4 cyl. engine get an average of 5 more mpg across the board? Guess when I throw the Emergency Spare Tire Donut into the lower cargo space shelf of the EcoSport it might go down even more despite the fact the Honda comes equipped already with an Emergency Spare Tire an Jack Assembly. Again, must be the "Boxy" Aero-Dynamics of the EcoSport an higher ground clearance causing wind drag.
  10. Been looking but unable to find the Curb Weight of the 2018 Ford EcoSport? Every site (including) Ford.com list Curb Weight....NA? One Car Reviews alleges that the EcoSport is supposed to weight approximately 100 lbs more the a Honda HR-V? Anyone have some hard numbers?
  11. Just found the Configurable DRL`s option on the Extended Options Menu using the left side buttons on the Steering Wheel. They are set at least on the "S" Trim in (on) position from the Factory but can be disabled if desired.
  12. I don't believe the Order Guide posted by ice capades makes no mention of a DRL Fleet Only Option. Just the Engine Core Block Heater limited to just a handful of Cold Weather States.
  13. All US 2018 Ford EcoSports in "S" Trim have Configurable DRL`s. Not sure about the SE, SES, or Titanium Trim which come standard with "Projector" Headlamps & a LED Surround. Not sure if that is the DRL`s on those Models or are an additional to the Configurable DRL`s which operate the Headlamps at a slightly reduced power output? OPPS, just check the 2018 Ford EcoSport Packaging Guide an indeed the SE Trim Model has (both) the Configurable DRL`s which appears to activate the LED signature Headlamp Lighting. It appears the SES an Titanium Trim editions are equipped the same way.
  14. The Owner Manual indicates there is (2) Settings for DRL`s on the 2018 Ford EcoSport. Configurable, I'm assuming for US destined Vehicles where not mandated by Law and Non-Configurable which I assume is for Canadian destined Vehicles which are required by Law. Where is the Menu Setting for the "Configurable" DRL`s? When set in Headlight (on) Position or Automatic Headlight (on) the Headlights go on in both Neutral and in Drive an off while in Park. In Manual (on) position, both Headlamps an Tail Lamps are both on. In Auto (on) position, Headlights remain on an Tail Lights are (off) during daytime driving conditions. It appears that unlike most DRL`s, there is no difference in illumination between reduced DRL illumination an regular non-DRL illumination? Is that by design or part of the (configuration) that the Owners Manual is not clear on?
  15. Just traded in my 2013 Ford C-Max SE Hybrid for a 2018 Ford EcoSport. Have a Used Emergency Spare Tire Donut available. It came off a 2012 Ford Fusion. Used it briefly twice an it mounted an performed perfectly. Included is a Heavy Duty Vinyl Cover I found on Amazon to prevent Interior soiling. Local Pick Up Only. If you reside in SE Florida an interested, make me an Offer an we can meet somewhere off I95. Cheers!
  16. I agree with all the previous comments regarding the obsolescence of the CD Disk inclusion. Those Seniors, (like myself) without Grand Childen close by to assist in the transition makes things a bit more challenging. True, Ford pegged the demographics of the typical EcoSport buyer as a College age Student or Millennial. I have noticed a majority of Honda HR-V Drivers being of AARP age or older. If at least Ford included the Sirius Satellite Radio into the Base Radio like other Manufacturers do with the minimal extra cost involved, the issue would pretty much be eliminated. I'm sure that Sirius / XM would supplement the small addition cost of the included Hardware figuring that a certain number will "Re-New" their Satellite Subscription once the initial Trail runs out within the first 6 months of Ownership. Funny, its worked fine for years with their 12K Hyundai Accent & Kia Rio but Ford obviously has a "Better" idea. Hats off to Ford for finally including programmable DRL`s into their newest Vehicles, finally!
  17. After 2 weeks of ownership of my 2018 Ford EcoSport I thought it was about time to slip in an enjoy one of my favorite CD`s. Since the "S" Trim is not available with the built in Sirius Satellite Radio Hardware unlike a 12K Hyundai or Kia, I was unable to locate the (slot) to insert the CD. Much to my surprise, there is NONE! Further research indicated that Ford along with several other Auto Manufacturers have eliminated the aging CD Unit from their Audio Units. Instead, (2) USB Ports an a SYNC System which allows you to connect to a "Streaming Service" like Apple Play or Adroid`s version. The lack of a CD Unit regardless of Trim Line is also the case from S through Titanium. Not a Deal Breaker but it would have been nice to enjoy some of one's favorite CD`s on a long Trip. No Sirius and No CD functionality. Not much time left for the remaining Dinosaurs like myself that grew up despite not have either Padded Dashboards, Seat Belts, and Child Seats. How we ever made it to adulthood is simply amazing. Anyone old enough to remember 8 Track Cartridges an Cassettes?
  18. It in Pre-Production an later Ordering Guide Ford speculated the mix of the 2018 EcoSport Trim Levels. Expectedly, the SE was going to be the volume seller, followed by a significant drop to the SES and Titanium Trim Lines. The Base "S" Trim was projected to be the Sales Dog, a simply price leader. Most Ford Dealers here in South Florida where AWD is only necessary during a blinding Rain-Out, the "S" trim is making up 80% of Dealer Stock. Not everyone needs a Power Sunroof especially here in Florida, many of us can live without the Push Button Ignition an 12 to 18 high output Audio Speakers. The Base "S" Trim despite have 16`` Rims has very attractive Alloy Wheels unlike the cheap Wheel Covers on the "S" Trim Ford Escape. So far I really am enjoying this EcoSport an appreciate its Body height significantly higher then my 2017 Honda HR-V. The EcoSport despite all the Bells an Whistles added is (not) a 28K vehicle, period! The sweet spot is at the 20K entry level an thats where a majority of Sales will come from. Those responsible for ordering Dealer Inventory an skipping on the "S" Trim an instead loading up on the higher Trim SE, SES, an Titanium will be left with a lot of Inventory while the "S' Trim Models will prove to be the biggest Seller, IMO.
  19. If its too much of a hassle to replace a Emergency Tire Donut on the original rim, I`ll just get a 2011 or older 4 Lug 15`` Focus Donut an call it a day if the ancient Fox Body Mustang Donut fails due to old age. Since its not going to be used as a Daily Driver, if it gets me to a Tire Repair Shop rather then being Towed, its done its job. I despise those weight saving and mostly cost saving Emergency Inflator Kits which have now become the norm in N.A. In other Counties, they require a Jack an Emergency Donut. In Australia, a Full Size Tire is required as an Emergency Spare. Extra weight causing poor Fuel Economy? What about an overweight Owner? How do they achieve the EPA numbers? Empty Vehicle or using a Jockey as a Driver?
  20. Thanks, I was aware of that. Ordered a 16`` 4 Lug Emergency Donut with 108 mm Radius off a 1992 Fox Body Mustang never used. T135-70-16 Looks like New for $75 w/free shipping. Tire an Wheel look perfect but with 25 years "aging" hopefully the Rubber hasn't`t totally deteriorated. Holding 60 psi (but) having 3000 lbs pressing on it, who knows. Fingers crossed it fits. Backup plan is Pre-2011 4 Lug 15`` Focus Donut.
  21. I guess I should have procured a 4 Lug 15`` Emergency Donut from a late model Focus. Chances are the Rubber will not be deteriorated as much as a 25 year old Fox Body Mustang Emergency Donut. I figured it made sense to match up the 16`` Alloy Wheels & Tires with a 16`` 4 Lug Emergency Donut. I just check the Emergency Donut I used on my 2013 Ford C-Max which came with 17`` Alloy Wheels & Tires an saw that the Emergency Donut that worked fine was a 16`` one from a late model Ford Fusion. Oh well, lets see if the Antique Donut will mount.
  22. In the rear hatch storage area of the 2018 EcoSport there is an adjustable Floor Bottom. Whatever level of configuration you opt for still won't allow room for an Emergency Spare Tire (Donut).
  23. Maybe I will take a chance a get a 15`` Ford Focus 4 Lug Emergency Donut instead of the much more expensive 16`` Fox Body Mustang version. Just matched up 17`` Wheel with same 17`` Emergency Donut with my old C-Max an it worked out fine.
  24. Perhaps you are correct but logic seems to lead that one would be better of utilizing a 16`` Emergency Spare Tire Donut then a 15`` one since the Vehicle comes with 16`` Wheels.
  25. NO! Just like with the Ford C-Max, there is no room for proper storage. Just get a Donut Cover an throw it into the Trunk or Rear Seat for long Highway Trips. No need for a Jack Assembly either. AAA or Ford Roadside Service will make the Swap if necessary.
