  1. While running HEAT in AUTO - not much coming from the rear console vents - however after selecting the DASH vents on the Climate Control screen - they started blowing pretty good.

So my question is, "Is the A/C compressor really running, or is one of the indication wrong - and which one.?" My average mpg over 3,000 miles is 17.2, best is 26.5, and worst is 13.2. Most of my driving is in-town, stop & go. ...and has anyone else noticed their "Outside Temp" sometimes freezes (no pun intended) - Yesterday mine was stuck on 21 degrees, even though the temp was up to 35.
  3. Doing anything is a waste of time - the update process will reset most things.
  4. I've used it quite a bit -- Low curbs, high curbs, fire hydrants, mail boxes - all no problem. It does require pulling well forward of the open slot, but then it hits it first time, every time. ...and I recommend practicing every chance you get.
  5. FWIW - I was worried when I learned my SEL was being built by "C" shift - starting on a Saturday, and finishing on a Sunday. I shouldn't have been. All doors, panels, pieces & parts are aligned, tight. and a perfect fit. No leaks, squeaks, or rattles. I've owned and driven a lot of vehicles - and after 3,000 miles in New England with this Escape - It's one of the best vehicles I've ever had. PJ
  6. ... and Ford will be sending you an email-report-card for the service you had at the dealer. Fill it out and return it - it counts!
  7. ...anyone else notice that the displayed MPG is about .5 to .7 higher than actual (if you figure mpg yourself)? FWIW - after 2400 mi: Average - 17.7 Best - 26.5 Worst - 14.4
  8. Interesting, my lighting turns Ice Blue (to provide maximum lighting when entering or exiting) - when a door opens.
  9. I've one-touched all 4 windows at 9 degrees F, and 50-60 mph - no issues. Could it be ice?
  10. The active-fixed guidelines turning themselves off is about the only issue I've had. I also have an issue that the headlights come on at startup, and stay on until I either turn them or the car off. Even in daylight, with the selector set to automatic. It's happened twice, just as the rear camera guidelines have turned off twice.
  11. 1. Yep, mine's doing it. (3.5.1. upgrade 2 weeks ago) 2. Anyone find a pattern yet?
  12. Excuse me for jumping in, but the 1.6 vs. 2.0 decision really depends on YOUR driving style, and what YOU want. (IMHO). I have a 2.0 and have had zero problems. I like to have a snappy response when I use the gas pedal. When I challenge (or get challenged) at a traffic light, I like to win, and I usually do. But, around town I get 15-16 mpg. Mixed driving is 18-19, and highways in New England gets me around 24 mpg. If you can afford the mpg., go for the 2.0. If you drive like there's an egg under your foot, and don't care about the power, keep what you have.
  13. I certainly would not disagree with Escapism - HOWEVER - I think software is only part of the issue. 80+ thousand vehicles, 12 fires. How many did not turn to flame? And it seems you MUST have a pressure issue "... like a loose filler cap or a pinhole-sized puncture in a hose" If it weren't for the pressure issue, I'd be in total agreement, but... I think there's more here. This story ain't over... (and "NO" I'm not being pessimistic - something just doesn't ring true....)
  14. At least with the androids, on first connect/use of some functions. you must have the phone unlocked and be watching the phone screen for permissions - because if you miss them, or don't permit them, you won't get prompted again, the functions just won't work - until you delete the phone on BOTH sides, re-pair, and re-allow (with "don't ask again checked").
  15. That's the 2nd thing I did. Does anyone have a GS3 with Sync 3.5.1 that responds correctly to the voice command, "Messages"?
  16. Prior to 3.5.1 (installed by dealer yesterday) my S3 did text messaging just fine. It sometimes would not receive multiple messages, but it read & sent them. Using the voice command, "Messages" took me to messaging. :stats: Now when I use the voice command, "Messages", the nice lady tells me my phone doesn't have that feature. BUT - If I say, "Read message 1" it does read it. Seems that all messaging functions work except the initial, 'Messages" command. Other than that, and the guidance still freezes when "Intelligent 4WD" is on the system messages display, I'm not finding any issues with MFT/SYNC. :work:
  17. I think the direct injection is independent of the turbo.
  18. I've had BLIS on my previous Fusion, and now on my Escape. Errors due to dirt, snow, ice, water, etc., happen. Ususally, shutting the car off and restarting will clear any false signals. But if it persists when there's nothing blocking the sensors, take it to your dealer.
  19. Yeah, I did that - but I want it to auto dim. It doesn't smooth dim - it does it in steps, and therefore it's quite noticeable. Like on a back road it changes every few seconds. I did raise the brightness a while ago and it stopped, but after the rebooting the "almost flickering" is back although the settings haven't changed.
  20. Does anybody else notice the auto-dim 8" display changing brightness frequently at dawn/dusk? It's rather annoying - the ambient light levels aren't changing that much while I'm driving...and is there a difference from 3.2 to 3.5?
  21. I've been getting some resistance from my dealer about doing the 3.5.1/A4 update. Ford is hammering dealers for doing the update without symptoms. But twice this weekend my whole system locked-up and 5 min later rebooted itself. Both times I was using the phone. I have an appointment Wednesday morning for the update. BTW- after the system rebooted, breadcrumbs worked. So did the current street/road being displayed under the compass on the home-screen.
  22. We had one morning where there was about 1-2" snow over icy road. I had to force it to get wheeks slipping at launch, and the traction control took over instantly. Same with braking, unless I stomped on the brake pedal, I wouldn't have known there was ice on the road. Caution, prudence, and common-sense are still required, maybe even more-so, because (as said by others) a lot of folks believe 4WD means "tank" - and it doesn't. However, with that being said, I sure feel a whole lot better about my wife driving around this winter in the Escape. Now, bring on the blizards!
  23. There's a link to a file over on the SyncMyRide forum that you put on a USB and it causes a reboot. I have it somewhere if you'd like.
  24. 1. As a 15 year Texaco Distributor, I know that Winter blend has about 1.7% less energy because of its higher Reid Vapor Pressure than Winter blends. That equates to something less than 0.5 mpg. - So yeah, in winter you get less, but not much... 2. As a very agressive driver of the 2.0 and a previous owner of a 1980 Vette with a 9 lb turbo, my Vette had lag, my 2.0 Escape has none, zero, nada, nyet.
