  1. ...and my Galaxy S3 received only 1 of the last 4 SMS messages. So if yours isn't working, mine doesn't work all the time.... Anyone hear any timing on the MFT rewrite??? (I love my Escape!!!!!)
  2. I recently found that at a toll booth, I heard a faint beep and the radio volume went down. I figured out it's the forward sensors - and I like it! same thing happens if I get too close to other cars/things at stop lights!
  3. is it an open eye bolt ? ... a screw eye bolt ? ...a swivel eye bolt ? maybe a ...lag eye bolt ? Whereas: World English Dictionary recovery (rɪˈkʌvərɪ) — n , pl -eries 1. the act or process of recovering, esp from sickness, a shock, or a setback; recuperation 2. restoration to a former or better condition 3. the regaining of something lost 4. the extraction of useful substances from waste 5. the recovery of a space capsule after a space flight 6. law a.the obtaining of a right, etc, by the judgment of a court b.(in the US) the final judgment or verdict in a case 7. fencing a return to the position of guard after making an attack 8. swimming, rowing the action of bringing the arm, oar, etc, forward for another stroke 9. golf a stroke played from the rough or a bunker to the fairway or green Definately #2 "restoration to a former or better condition " ...so "recovery" is the right descriptor... but "hook"... hook 1    /hʊk/ Show Spelled[hook] Show IPA noun 1. a curved or angular piece of metal or other hard substance for catching, pulling, holding, or suspending something. 2. a fishhook. 3. anything that catches; snare; trap. 4. something that attracts attention or serves as an enticement: The product is good but we need a sales hook to get people to buy it. 5. something having a sharp curve, bend, or angle at one end, as a mark or symbol. ... it ain't a "hook" It cood be a Recovery Hook Receptacle Receiver Receiver: re·ceiv·er    /rɪˈsivər/ Show Spelled[ri-see-ver] Show IPA noun 1. a person or thing that receives. 2. a device or apparatus that receives electrical signals, waves, or the like, and renders them perceptible to the senses, as the part of a telephone held to the ear, a radio receiving set, or a television receiving set. 3. Commerce . a person appointed to receive money due. 5. a person who knowingly receives stolen goods for an illegal purpose; a dealer in stolen merchandise. ======================= A thing that receives..!!!!....Yeah, that's the ticket! It receives the hook~! So, if you want to buy one, you better ask for a "2013 Ford Escape Recovery Hook". If you're at Ruth's Chris in Seattle, sucking down $22 GreyGoose martinis, you better be telling her it's "a Recovery Hook Receiver"! But if after leaving "Dogs-R-Us" in Titusville after a dozen Miller Lites you get stuck in the sand at Playalinda Beach, and your buddy shows up 3 hours later with his Jeep, you're gonna say, "Give me the *&^%$$in' Eyebolt" Burma Shave
  4. I thought it's called a "Recovery Hook" ? :bag:
  5. 1st small road trip this morning - 75 mi (each way) up the interstate to go to a Romney rally - (wife shook Mitt's hand!). Average 75-80 m.p.h. got 22.6 mpg. We now have a little over 350 mi. on the car. Great ride - tight, responsive, smooth, much more quiet than my ex-Fusion SEL (2010). I like the 3-blink turn signals.
  6. For those trying to get the messaging to work: Found that on the Android forum. I do remember having my S3 in my hand and sending myself a text from my wife's S2. I did have to "wipe down" and allow SYNC into my phone's messaging the FIRST time. Hope that helps!
  7. Takes a little getting used-to, and remember there's a second-or-so delay after you kick. Try to imagine your toe reaching the bottom-underneath edge of the rear bumper, right in the middle - just stick (kick) your foot in, then stand a step or two back. You'll get it. Mine works every time. When "grabbing" the door handle, remember you're trying to touch the backside of the door handle - you're NOT pulling to open the door handle. And make sure your thumb doesn't touch the front-of-handle black lock pad. Touch to unlock, let it unlock, then pull to open. (3 steps) Unlocking and opening the door is a TWO THREE step process and while it's short, you have to give the system time to unlock before you pull the handle. Hope this helps. :shades:
  8. I've got 18"s and on a 20 mi run down 495 at between 75 and 95 mph, she was smooth, steady, and very sure-footed! Great ride!
  9. ...don't know what to say. Sync VersionGen2 - V3.2. Confirmed installations DA5T-14D546-AF DA5T-14F496-AF DA5T-14F497-AF DA5T-14F657-AG I am pretty sure the major upgrade should be out soon...
  10. I "think" I read there's a 1 meter range - the fob has to be on your body or in the purse on your arm.
  11. Dude, there are no "experts" unless and until they have experience with actually using the exact equipment the question/issue involves. I know the S3: 1. is NOT supposed to work 2. the S3 is not listed as a device that is proven compatible with SYNC - there is a big difference in those statements. I have a Samsung Galaxy S III - It's NOT listed as compatible for Text Messaging. However, I have sent and received SMS text messages from the system in my Escape. Yesterday, I recieved one while driving - at my voice request, Dora (my computer's name - short for Adorable - anyone know where that's from???) read the message out loud. I have yet to pair/try my wife's S2 Glide. TNSTAAFL. :reading:
  12. Yep - Thanks - that's what I do - and it's getting easier.
  13. I'm finding it really easy. I read quite a bit before I got the vehicle. Don't sweep - the two sensors are dead center ad it has to "see" your shin (first) and then your foot. Kick straight in and almost touch the bumper. Maybe I can take a video? ...
  14. My phone is a galaxy S3 - and yep, it read a message to me today. Lights - I meant it has to get darker (more dark? less light) than my Fusion did.
  15. Doesn't appear to have an "Address Book", just "Favorites" ? - Cannot access B pillar Keyless Entry Keypad "Personal Entry" codes (page 60 of manual) from MFT Cannot program memory 1 or 2 into Personal Entry code (6th digit - step #4 - page 61) ref #2 above - Both seatbelt height adjusters on the b pillars DO go all the way to the top. Don't squeeze, just shove it up.
  16. Got my Escape this morning. I may apply to be an Escape salesman - between you guys and reading everything I could find in the last 9 weeks, I know more than anyone at the dealership. So far I'm fairly pleased. That sucker just JUMPS off the line! Ride is tight, steering excellent! ..but 1. Nav guidance is frozen on the little screen when the Intelligent 4WD screen is up. On all other screens the guidance updates along with the main system. 2. Somebody posted pics (I'm too tired to search) of the seat belt slide adjustment on the inside B pillar - one of mine is at the top, and one is down like the posted pics - I'll try adjusting them tomorrow. 3. I don't think the Speed Compensated Sound is working. If it is, it sucks (compared to my ex-Fusion) 4. How do you edit the address book? 5. Text messaging is way cool! 6. Husky Weatherbeaters fit like a glove! 7. I LIKE the whole cruise cotrol system! 8. Whoever designed the center console should be taken out and shot. Without a blindfold! 9. The auto headlights should come on a little bit sooner. 10. I pushed a tad too hard on the button to open the moonroof - the whole control panel went up. ...yeah, I love it so far...
  17. I got my Escape this morning. I can successfully run and submit. I do not get any email, and the report is not on the web site.
  18. Escapism - If I was driving behind you, I don't think I'd notice. If I knew a great body shop and they could "adjust" it for less than $100, I'd reach for my wallet. If it produced serious wind noise, or leaked - I'd run it up Ford's chain... then BBB. If I were on a jury - deciding whether to award damages - I think I'd have a really hard time getting anyone who thinks it's ok to drive a dirty car, or who thinks it's ok to lean on a my car, or who allows drink boxes in the car, or who even knows how to drive-thru a Wendy's, or who... Anyhow, those folks are going to think you're in the 1% - and render a verdict of "Seriously!?" But if the jury was made up of PillBoys and PajamaGuys - you'd get a new car and $50,000 for pain & suffering! (If wasn't looking for it, I wouldn't notice...)
  19. Thanks guys! Yes it's the White Platinum Tri-coat. And yes, I looked especially hard at the liftgate alignment - but also the doors - looks like they did it right - it was built by the Saturday-Sunday shifts. :banmolest: And it was built 10/6-10/7, arrived by rail at Ayre MA this past Wed, and delivered by truck (15 mi.) this morning. But the delivery time from build-to-dealer varies quite a bit. - My process took 60 days from order to delivery. ...looks like I won't get it until in the morning - but on the bright side, the price went down, the rebates went up (over 2,000), the lease residual also went up - net effect is less cash and lower lease payment - even at 18,000 mi/yr!! - (and in 20 months I get to start the process all over - I can't wait! )
  20. I touched it. I drove past the dealer this morning (7:45) and saw an empty car carrier leaving. Mine was there - they unlocked it and let me drool. Hope to have it prepped and delivered today! I did a cursory walk-around and snapped some pics. I can't spot any misalignments - ?
  21. I can find plenty of sources for pre-2013 Escape TSB's - has anyone found a source for current (2013) bulletins? :stats:
  22. Well, I think those 2 dark spots on the bottom rims of the tailpipe covers are unsightly and you should clean them immediately! And I'm surprised you actually have cracks in your cement floor... where's the epoxy floor paint?
  23. I think there's no tray inside the console to hold coins, pens, etc. Has anyone found a good substitute?
