I don't have mine yet, but my understanding is that the aluminum wheels are clearcoated like the car, so whatever you are using on the car should work on the wheels. That's what we're planning to try. You aren't actually polishing the aluminum,. but the clearcoat.

As others have said, you can only be shocked at the prices if you haven't shopped the competition. We shopped ALL the competition, and the Explorer offered the most for the money. I was surprised at the costs of all of the marques, but the Explorer pricing is not above its comparables. And that's why many manufacturers make many different car models at many different prices. You can buy a stripped down base model of any car and save $15,000 over a loaded model. Different cars for different needs and pocketbooks. Some people want cushy luxury, some want tech, some want practical. But I will add that we purchased our last car 3 years ago, and car prices are much higher than they were then. MUCH! That car was just totalled by a drunk driver, almost killing my husband. So we have a specific reason for wanting a BIG, HEAVY, SAFE vehicle this time around. If not, I'd be looking smaller and cheaper and higher mpg.

The specs for the Explorer with the tow pag say they add Tire Mobility Kit. that normally means that they don't give you a spare, but rather only a spray tire sealant. Has anyone received a 2011 with the tow, and was there a spare?

Congratulations on finding your car early. I keep hoping. I tried to get a salesman to explain the cargo cover to me and he couldn't. From what I could tell you might as well throw a sheet over your stuff. It's just a tarp that you are supposed to be able to hook to various places, nothing like the fixed retractable cover you would expect. They should be embarassed about that option.

Is the thought about polished wheel weight a fact or just a supposition?

It's nice to have so much to worry about before I even get my build date. Fingers crossed problems have been solved.

The fine print on the tow capacity notes that anything in the car over a 150 pound driver must be sutracted from the 5000 pounds.
