  1. By using both high and low beams at the same time you actually decrease the distance that your eye can see. The low beam is focused in front of the vehicle at a distance that is acceptable to on coming traffic while the high beam is focused straight out from the vehicle. When you use the high beam, the light actually seems less bright to your eyes because the volume of light being reflected is less because of the distance and spread. But as your eye adjusts to the volume of light (opening your iris) you can see further down the road where the headlights are adjusted to. By using your low beams and high beams you put a significant amount of light in front of your vehicle making it brighter because the volume of light being reflected is a lot more coming from the low beam, but your eye can not adjust making the high beams reach insignificant. This is the same reason that HID lights are not always better.
  2. Just following up, picked the truck up on the 16th reshoed it with BFG all terrains and put it right to work. :happy feet: This a great truck! Thanks again for the help.
  3. There's got to be an employee that knows if there are any mechanical differences between the two. Maybe Ford is blowing smoke and the only difference is the mirrors, bumper, and TBC and just puts a different GVWR to get you to pay more.
  4. That's not what he said. He was saying that the tires that came stock were supposed to be AT tires and were not. He was bummed.
  5. If you have a brochure the dealer will honor it if you already have it and you ordered the truck within that time frame, at least that's what my dealer told me. I didn't believe him so I got a new one a week after I filled out the request on the website.
  6. In all reality if you are scared of 4.00 a gal gas now, you should probably not consider a f150 unless you need it. I say this because the price of gas will not get any cheaper, it might dip down for awhile but upper 3's and low 4's will be the new reality. Just count your blessing, 4.99/gal in the Republic of California.
  7. AAAH NOM NOM NOM, that what I always think when I see him. Anyway hopefully the truck is close, bump for VIN 1FTFW1ET7BFA94881 Thanks
  8. It's because the auto show starts in March, the 9th if I remember correctly.
  9. I know earlier in the thread we were discussing the Job #2 axle, I was wondering if anyone knew if the 3.73 elocker is also a limited slip? I ask because this brochure had the elocker part number listed under limited slip. Third page
  10. Someone has got to know the answer to this. Also I was looking at the payload specs for the 4x4 157" screw with the 3.5 eco and it stated 7350* gvw or 7700* gvw. Reading below it says *needs max tow package. So does that mean that even though I have a 7350 gvw truck, I have the same equipment as the 7700 gvw truck? On the bottom http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/payload/
  11. Ordered a FX4 Eco 6.5 box on Jan 20, it will be built on Feb 22 and my dealer said should be here approx. March 10. He originally told me 6-8 weeks.
  12. No fair, Canadian trucks get the max tow and regular mirrors? I couldn't get the max tow in the states without the huge tow mirrors.
  13. Tracking request for VIN 1FTFW1ET7BFA94881. Much appreciated.
  14. Now that I reviewed my sources it looks like the platinum for sure gets the windshield and soundproofing, but I thought I saw something that the 2011 lariat got it too. Links Video (near the end, 2:50) http://www.break.com/usercontent/2009/4/2009-Ford-F-150-Platinum-708497 http://capitaltailgate.com/theres-an-f-150-for-everyone/ http://hillerford.com/resource_library/2010/2010specs/2010f150.pdf
  15. I guess I can't be 100% sure because I don't build or engineer them, but multiple people have stated that the 2011 has a thicker windshield and more sound proofing. I'll try and find links for you or somebody with the inside line could pipe up.
  16. I have asked this exact same question to about 5 dealers and called Ford (they told me to contact my dealer!), there answer is "mmm, I don't know". So I want to know also how can a bumper and mirror cause the GVW to go from 7350 to 7700?
  17. I saw your tracking request and said "Hey that guy is checking my truck! He has the same VIN!" Then I realized that it ended in 881 not 880.
  18. FX4 comes standard with the 3.73 elocker, optional 4.10 elocker, I believe from what I had read both are open when unlocked. Front axle is open. I thought the 0-60 time for the eco was about mid 6's, but I don't know about the gearing that was used. Order guide is about half way down in the post.
  19. When I drove the 5.0 I told the dealer that "you will be able to sell these like hotcakes just based on the sound." It sounds like you are on top of a muscle car.
  20. The guys that drove from Chicago to show off the Ecoboost said they were getting 24mpg (avg) going 70mph with cruise. I wonder what Ford was shooting for? I t was kinda disappointing to see the 15/21 EPA estimate come out. I was hoping for more like 18/24, but it is a heavy truck.
  21. Where did you get yours? The one place I know that had them was Apple Ford in Shakopee.
  22. Ok, I just heard back from the dealer stating that the rebates still apply. So now I just have to wait. :reading:
  23. I have been waiting for 10 years, build it already!
