  1. I'm guessing they will eventually make it so it can be enabled. I've noticed that on occasion during startup that my car will try to check for the presence of the rear view camera even though I don't have the parking package. It'll give an error and then I just hit okay and won't see that message for a week or so, so clearly all of the software is loaded into the system, it just needs to be enabled and you'll need to get the SD card.
  2. Typically that stuff is all handled by the dealer and you shouldn't have to do that on your own. I used the technology rebate and my dealer just tacked it onto my D plan pricing.
  3. In auto mode, I have to turn my fogs on each time on my titanium. Oh well.
  4. Bump for VIN : 1FAHP3N20CL145493 I really do appreciate it!
  5. 1) January. Pre-orders you know you'll be waiting regardless, so it really doesn't matter how early you are in honestly. 2) Doubtful. I worked for a dealer for years and my father orders the damn cars for a good sized dealer. 3) Unfortunately that's how the priority system works. Order from a larger dealer and you'd likely have it already. 4) They ARE getting the cars to the dealers. Problem is that sales have been doing so well on many of their models that they just don't have the capacity to get enough out at this point as they've downsized the manufacturing side of things out of necessity. 6) I'm in your shoes and STILL don't have my car yet, so yes, I really can complain that you are complaining. The fact is that you said the system is broken when in fact it is not. It is geared at getting customers from off the streets into new vehicles waiting for them on the lots... those of us who order vehicles sometimes get the shaft as they already know we like the vehicles and are willing to wait for ours. Yes, waiting sucks, it really does. Unfortunately you run into this with most manufacturers, especially on a new vehicle.
  6. The very first? Hardly. First from Motorola? Yes. As much as I used to love my android based phones, I'm really beginning to get sick of Google and the concerns they create by selling out info. Some of what google has been doing with the phones and everything else has gotten to be a little carried away in my book.
  7. In all honesty, it really isn't. As much as it sucks for those of use who order retail cars, the system is the way it is for a very big reason. For those of us who have waited for many months for our vehicles, the Ford ordering system is geared at keeping the dealers inventory stocked. Our retail orders play a much smaller part than the 95% of vehicles that are sold as stock units. Larger dealers need more cars to keep them afloat so Ford rewards the larger dealers with more vehicle allocations. Problem is that even the larger dealers are losing sales opportunities because they are receiving fewer vehicles than they are selling for cars such as the Focus despite the fact that Ford is running the assembly lines full tilt right now. Right now a lot of dealers are hurting for vehicles and unfortunately we are all stuck in that same hole. If your dealer you ordered a car from is currently receiving 2012 focuses and yours has still yet to be built, I'd be checking with your dealer to see how they entered your order. Most retail orders over 3 months old have been built at this point unless the vehicle was ordered from a very small dealer that has absolutely no allocation, which is hard to believe because even the tinniest of dealers should have at least 1 or 2 foci allocated for any given month and if your was entered with a higher priority number as a retail unit should be, then yours should be well on its way. *And you had to have expected that there may have been the possibility of production issues that came up on a new vehicle. If not, you should have done some more research. I don't mean to be rude, but all of the whining on these forums does get quite old sometimes.
  8. Patrol out in an open area often will see speeds for a brief second or two of well more than 60 mph. Flip a u-turn to stop a drunk when they are traveling 50mph in the other direction and you are doing 45-50 and it becomes a necessity. You get fast braking, a hard turn, and then a quick acceleration. God forbid you have to avoid an obstacle and pull an evasive lane change in a FWD cruiser all while checking off with dispatch that you're pulling traffic and giving the vehicle info and location of the stop...yeah, FWD is really not ideal for a cruiser. Can you maneuver a car with FWD? Sure. However, they are not nearly as easy to do when hard on the gas as those tires are being asked to turn and continue applying power to the ground, both of which can easily overburden the available traction of the tires. I can't wait to have the new ford PI on patrol. :shades:
  9. And that's exactly what I mean, if someone is dead set on believing their focus is a sports car, it's not that much trouble to reach over and switch the gear with the select shift lever. If you can shift and heel-toe in a manual transmission car into a hard series of turns, reaching over for a lever really isn't that involved. I've got plenty of time on the track and not once have I felt handicapped having to reach over to make a shift whether driving a road course or down the strip. Simply put, the switch was placed where it was for the largest target audience.
  10. Any updates on VIN : 1FAHP3N20CL145493 Thanks again!
  11. And to say we don't have a problem with illegal immigration enforcement/policies is a complete bunch of BS. We just had two border control agents killed in the midst of a pursuit of illegals when their vehicle collided with a train here in Phoenix. They were reportedly in pursuit of the illegals who were smuggling in more drugs. We HAVE a problem and it NEEDS to be fixed.
  12. I'm with you, the select shift feature is just fine where it is for my tastes. This is not a sports car and I don't need any boy racer garbage inside. If anything a gated shifter might have been nicer, but I don't see the point as most people honestly do not bother with these and a manufacturer builds their cars for the common denominator of consumers. If my titanium was going to be another one of my track toys, I would just buy a manual transmission car unless it was going to be another drag car in which case I wouldn't care what the stock shifter was like as it would be converted to a manual shift valve body and a ratchet shifter. If there's a situation where you want more control of the car for a particular driving situation where you don't feel the ECU is doing a good job of shifting for you, use the goofy switch. Otherwise just leave the car in D or S and forget the button is even there. FYI, the S mode without touching the select shift button is more than adequate for more aggressive driving in a car such as this from my toying around in these cars. But hey, that's just my thoughts on the matter, yours may vary. :reading:
  13. Nkempf01, what is your priority number? If I remember correctly, 1-9 require someone above the dealer level to enter, 10-19 are retail units (orders such as yours), and 20+ are for dealer stock. I may be off in my ranges by 1, but that should give you the general idea.
  14. Several people have now been stating that their Kona Blue orders have been cancelled if they just recently placed them.
  15. Mmm, I'd love to have one of those on patrol. :shades:
