  1. A very thoughtful look at what is wrong with conservatives and why many of us oppose them. The Bengazi fund raising is just the latest of a rabid anti-Obama first, the country second mentality. http://theweek.com/article/index/261426/im-not-a-democrat-im-an-anti-republican
  2. Don't forget to put the company relatives in there.
  3. A Ford Co-worker doing research for his master thesis found that when Ford Motor hired blacks that it reached out to the local ministers as a means of the typical sociological control that Henry craved over his workers. It appears also that this could have affected the education and age levels that the authors speak of concerning hiring. One of the intended or not affects was that potential radicals and unionists could be removed prior to hiring, or at least minimized. It also had the effect of making a powerful group within the black community even more powerful, since they now had a lot of power as many people in the community owed them their livelihood. Typical of many things about Ford and his policies they accomplished a great deal and were good for many many people, but the motives were not always altruistic. It's well known that hirings of blacks and immigrants who spoke little of the language included the hope that it would make organising harder as it put further differences between fellow workers. Ultimately, it didn't stop the labor movement, rather only delayed it. Given the differences in history between the US and Canada a one size fits all view about race, i.e. North America, is likely to miss issues that are country and geographically specific. It can also lead to the view that all groups in the US have gotten past their particular hardships when that is not the case. Even today there is still an underbelly of hostility over the Civil war and reconstruction within the south.
  4. I think you're taking things too far but whatever. I'll let it go.
  5. I can agree with you that Nick has been lenient with the whole bunch of us, and if I was moderator I would have booted myself and 4 or 5 others a long time ago too. He didn't though.
  6. Who exactly made that decision above? And who decides what constitutes participation? As a Ford employee I go through the employee section and the read the threads, some i reply to and some i don't, but just because i'm not out there chatting away about Ford cars doesn't mean i'm not participating. You have just as bad of case of "My WAY" disease as any of us and now that you're a mod it's being abused.
  7. Some really good reporting going on about how the various Bundy militias are attacking each other and threatening violence against each other. How soon till those so-called Patriots start a range war against themselves? And those are the good guys to many conservatives here.
  8. I listened for about a minute and I didn't hear anything untrue. Who tries to deny that the history of America isn't rife with racism and white supremacy?
  9. I always go to Ford forums to talk about my Toyotas, especially knowing that there are plenty of Ford employees. Wait, no "I" do not.
  10. Your one of them in my book. You resort to the same broad brush name calling as those you consider the offender/s. Other than Nick, Akirby and Ron the rest of us would be banned.
  11. Each group of new hires has there share of turds and idiots. That's the point.
  12. We'll just have to disagree as I feel he cried and whined unnecessarily about the political discourse in our threads and now wants to enforce his views on us. Yay for him.
  13. LOL. Your just uptight. Nothings wrong with being lighthearted.
  14. While I understand the frustration at the VEBA, the alternative was much much worse. The company was going to summarily cut retiree health care based on a interpretation of the contract, or atleast that's how I understand the court filings. I'm not sure if it counts as a concession as both the company and the workers put money into the VEBA. I believe that Ford is still paying 500+ million a year till 2019.
  15. Well, It's been fun but, I'm thinking that the letter is a bit Rouge-centric and that is slightly off putting. A guy wants to run for International president and his stuff is a little home field oriented. Coming from a smaller local and parts plant, sometimes the attention paid to the big boys is bothersome and makes you wonder if someone like Gary would represent all of us any better.
  16. LOL. Welcome to the even hand of.......well not so much. At least someone got what they have been begging and crying for, the chance to make this "his" section.
  17. Calling someone really silly, is a pretty light insult if you ask me. Nothing to get the panties all bunched up about. Relax, have more fun and realize it's the interwebz.
  18. No raises is a concession? As for the VEBA, I thought and am possibly wrong, that was 2007.
  19. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5311825/ In the middle of a challenge to a tight primary the challenger falls and is found dead. Wow.

  21. He's a high seniority guy on an easy job so he must know everything, right?
