Another person had the recall done and the part # on the ticket was 3U2Z-14A088-BA. It's like a $10 part on ebay, so probably not a big deal.

That's a good question. The harness probably runs to all sorts of places, and at the factory I'm sure its installed before all the other crap is in the way. One way to find out is to look up the part on the Ford parts site. If you can get a part number, you can get a picture of it. That picture will tell you how many connectors it runs to and looking in your engine bay will give you somewhat of an idea how much a PITA it is.

There is a TSB out about this. I did mine myself. I did it right on the car, because you can't unplug the connector from the outside. You would have to remove the interior door trim panel. Not to mention a bezel is alot cheaper than a transmission. I wouldn't want anybody dragging my car. But thats cool that they have those wedges.

I'm fairly certain the rear unlock feature was discontinued on the 2013 job2. No 2014's have it, and it doubt any 2015's will have it.
-
Bingo! It was so funny when the dealer told me I didn't have this feature. Very frustrated with the whole dealer system.
-
I nice gentleman offered to run my VIN. It's an interesting 4 pages of info. But there are about a dozen items that are worded to where you really can't tell what it is. I think the IA for the rear doors must be buried in one of these line items. I will post the pages soon.
-
I have my build sheet (4 pages). I just can't find where it says I have the IA in all 4 door handles. Its probably buried in some equipment package.
-
Awesome. It looks like only the folks with early job1 builds got this feature. Job2 2013's don't have it. And no 2014's have it. At least I don't think so. I could be wrong. But judging from the dealers total lack of information, it's going to be a long and painful process. They are going to contact Ford and find out what to do next. Probably ask them the diagnosis procedure. I actually had to tell the dealer that over on the focus st forums, it's usually the antenna shorts out, or the module goes bad. When the module gets replaced, the dealer needs both key fobs to program the new module. Im not sure they like me over there. But what's funny is I'm trying to make their job easier, so I get my car back sooner. But they just don't get it.

Been back and forth with the dealer today. They said both rear doors don't have this feature. They tried both doors and they didn't work. So I went and picked up my car just now. I pulled to a side area of the dealership and my drivers rear door started working. So I pulled around to the service area went in and got the SA. Showed him the working door and he said "well isn't that something". Took my car home and they are going to investigate further. It's a shame that the dealers don't have a way to find out exactly what build you have down to the little details like this feature. Instead I have to PROVE to the dealer what I have and that it's broken. I'm sure somewhere in the vehicle diagnostics this line item is labeled "enabled". Go figure.

For the rear doors, simply put your hand behing the handle. You should hear your doors unlock. I think it uses a Hall effect sensor.

Mine is an early build, 09/2012 Took it in to have the recall work done and some other stuff. I told them my Escapes rear passenger IA unlock feature stopped working. Service advisor just called me and said everything was done and as far as the rear door, that I don't have that feature. That's pretty rich, considering I have been driving it around for 2 years, using The IA feature on all four doors to global unlock all the doors. My rear doors have the unlock feature only, whereas my front doors have the lock (black thumb pad) feature and the unlock(tiouch inside of handle)feature. Anybody else have an early build 2013 with these features in all 4 doors. They must of cut this feature for the Job2 2013's is my guess. I just thought it was funny that the dealer didn't take the time to try the other handles.

This video is pretty good. I just googled "install rear spoiler ford escape". Even though its a different car, its the exact same principal. But I just used blue masking tape to outline my perimeter. Another person is needed when doing the final stick. Its a one-shot deal. Or have a shop do it for you.

You folks are totally missing the point. It's not a question of the strength of the racks or roof. It's the rollover factor that is the main concern. With a Pano roof the weight is the glass. You can load 300 lbs on that puppy, but if you do a maneuver just the right way you could be in real trouble. I load up plywood and stuff from Home Depot, going way over the limit. But it's only 1.5 miles from my house. I like all the sports stuff on the roof racks, looks good

If I could just get them to do this for the Global Opening function of the windows......
-
Yeah, sure. It's pretty much correct. I have done this 3 times. If you don't remove the 8 connectors in the BCM you really have to yoga the old filter out and the new one in. I always removed the BCM connectors. The one thing they left out is the big door gasket molding. It just pulls right off and it makes taking off that triangular panel to the right of the glove box a lot easier. Don't know why they omitted this tip. The workshop DVD explains this.

You would be much better off asking your question here: http://www.escape-city.com EDIT. Ah, I see you already did.

2013 Ford Escape Recalled for 7th Time
Escapism replied to Transpower's topic in Escape & Kuga Forum
You mean like GM. Ouch! -
They are all over ebay like a pit bull on a poodle. All from China of course. Lots of forum members on other sites have done this procedure.
-
You really don't need a trim removal tool for this job. I have removed mine a total of 3 times. You do have to be careful when dealing with plastic clips. The BCM connectors are tricky. Never disconnected the battery and I've never had any problems. My Ford workshop DVD is my source of info.

Wow! Sounds like a lot is going on in your pants.

If the car is running they do. I'm not sure about accessory mode. Would have to check. But if you just enter your car and don't do anything, you can just turn on the radio. Also, alot of people don't realize this (and very handy when washing the car and the doors keep locking and unlocking when you touch them) is that without your key fob on you you can walk up to your car and enter the keypad code to unlock the doors and just turn on your radio.
-
Don't quite understand what "take my family to the drive" means. Do you mean a drive-in movie? If so, there are ways to enable just the radio (if the theater uses a radio channel for audio).

The Titanium's in the shop. Liftgate and sensors.

Why would anybody think this function would work without the key fob on your person????? WOW.
