1. This! I think when the vehicle is done, they're sending it off site to have the remote starter installed (total guess) and that's what has delayed my second vehicle. Either that or the wheels. Just got a call from my dealer who said the vehicle has returned from "OFF SITE AWAITING SHIPMENT" to "RETURNED FROM OFF SITE AWAITING SHIPMENT" So hopefully it hops on the next train out of there.
2. So my reorder did NOT show up yesterday, despite what the trace said. My guess is it's still 'awaiting shipment.' I'm wondering if there's some common thread to the vehicles that seem to get stuck there. Both my original order, and re-order ended up in TBD hell. The only thing I can think is that it's the remote start that's holding it up.
3. Just thought I'd post an update on my situation. My original order - which was stuck in TBD hell - showed up in early Jan. On the re-order that we did in December, we decided to add the larger wheels. We went and checked out the original order - which was sweet - but decided to wait for the re-order. The re-order was finished being built on Jan 11th. My dealer tracked it the vehicle visibility and it still showed "TBD - Sent Offsite." However, he also 'ran a trace' on it - not sure what that means - which said it was supposed to be delivered today. I'll let you all know if it actually comes in, and the visibility report is not accurate.
4. Ahh - I stand corrected. Looks like it is 2 fobs per Iggnuts. Wish I had known - I would have skipped that option and gone with an aftermarket starter if it's gonna need another remote anyway.
5.
Here's a video someone actually decided to take of the fusion key. It's for an SE. You can see on the bottom of the Fob, there's an EXTRA round button with the little circle-arrow guy. This is added to the vehicle fobs that have remote start.

At least he points to the button and says, "remote staht" (which I assume is start with his accent)

6. Feel compelled to set you all straight. It's a one-fob remote start. I know the picture on the build page on the website shows a lame, second fob, but it's actually incorporated into the system. I feel like you can imbed these, but I'm not quite sure how. So just check out the video below, and you'll see what the remote start/key fob looks like, and how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ1j9UJroHE
7. If I could wait any longer, I would. But circumstances prevent me from doing so.
8. do you have a how-to on those LED strips on the Fusion headlights? Those are beeeeeeeeeeautiful. I want to add them to mine!
9. Drives me crazy that they didn't announce these until well after I ordered mine. The biggest thing I wanted on the Titanium that was not available on the SE hybrid was the Push Button Start. Enjoy it you devils!
10. Oh, and additionally, I ordered mine back in May. At least my original order is finally ready, but now I'm waiting for the re-order with the larger wheels. SO EXCITED for it!
11. I know the feeling. Been driving mine for 14 years.
12. just got the call that my original order is now sitting at the dealership! crazy. my salesman told me he's putting it aside for the next week or so until it's confirmed that my second order (with the larger wheels) is actually getting shipped. in the mean time he told me to come down and take it for a spin!! super excited.
13. Kind of bitter sweet news for me. Got an excited call from my dealer who wanted to inform me that my original (TBD hell) order is scheduled to arrive on Jan 7th. However, back in early December, my dealer did a re-order and I sprung for the 18" painted luxury wheels which now I really want. That one isn't scheduled to arrive until the 17th. I figure I've waited so long for this car, what's 10 more days? The thing that really annoys me is that now someone else will be driving around with my exact same build (minus the wheels). But hey! In a couple weeks I'll finally be enjoying the car I ordered in May!
14. for those curious - apparently it was shut down the last week of November as well.
15. So, it looks like they FINALLY scheduled my second order. Set to week of Jan 7. Hopefully it'll actually ship out this time around. A little background for those interested: Ordered 5/2012 Scheduled to Septermber Rescheduled to November Built November 6th. Entered into TBD hell. Re-ordered December 2nd. Scheduled to build week of Jan 7. it's been a LONG freaking road. hope it's worth it!
16. Curious from anyone who has had to Re-Order: How long did it take, once re-ordered, to get a new VIN and build date?
17. Don't know. Based on what the factory rep told my dealer, and based on what the Ford customer care regional manager told me, it sounded like if you're in awaiting shipment hell, these vehicles aren't going anywhere until end of December. Both of them said that a delivery before end of year was extremely optimistic, and much more likely that it would be 2013. Though they couldn't even commit to a ship date in January.
18. Sounds like you are pretty much in the same spot I am. As a friendly FYI, I've had to do a re-order, because this will not be released to ship any time before the end of the year. You may wish to do the same.
19. Apparently this one doesn't require you finance through Ford. However, a lot of rebates/incentives do require you to finance through a specific company (i.e. Ford requires Ford Credit, GM will require GMAC, etc...)
20. I can confirm that some cars produced in November have had issues as well. Mine, which was built on Nov. 6th (ordered May 4th), is being held in Hermosillo. It's currently listed as "Awaiting Shipment," but it has been 10 days. Yesterday, the dealer spoke with a factor rep that said my vehicle would not be released until late December at the earliest. No information as to why my specific vehicle was being held. That said, my dealer was told to order a new vehicle and they would prioritize its production and that it should deliver mid-December. I'll keep y'all posted on what happens.
21. How much are they willing to reduce the rate by? And also over how many months? Both are important factors to determine whether it financially makes sense. I always find it strange when a company is willing to sacrifice some of its APR points to get you to purchase something else. I don't know what kind of rate that they're offering you for financing, and I certainly don't expect you to share that information. But I will say that when I have purchased cars in the past, I've always used an outside company to do my financing (USAA). They always give me fantastic rates, and when the auto company has offered a lower rate, they have always matched it. It can also be a helpful in that it lets you negotiate the price of the vehicle without the dealer's financing department playing games to make you think you're getting a better deal than you are, and it eliminates the bait and switch of "we promised you X, but it turns out that the best we can do is X + 2%." Just some additional food for thought.
22. Love the teamwork, and thanks for the video. Those indeed look fantastic! I'll take the 17's if they get to the dealer sooner, but now I'm pulling for the 18's order to get there first.
23. My two cents: Extended warranties for brand new cars aren't worth it. Believe it or not, you always have the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty at the conclusion of the factory warranty, and that gives you some extra time to think about it. However, if you're buying a used vehicle where you have no idea HOW the first driver treated it, then it can be a smart investment (at least for better peace of mind). Back in '02, my wife (then girlfriend) purchased a used Saturn, and she opted for the extended warranty as the original warranty had expired. Total cost was 900 dollars (cheaper back then). The second year she owned the car, she started smelling gasoline and she took it in. Turns out the gas tank was leaking and they needed to replace the entire tank. A 100 dollar deductible later, and the car was fixed. The total cost for the repair was about 4k. Like everyone says, it's a bit of a gamble - but I think it's a gamble only worth taking when it's a used vehicle whose history you don't fully know.
24. My original order had the 17" wheels. But it's stuck in "awaiting shipment" hell, and so my dealer did a re-order for me, and I had him include the 18" wheels because I remembered I kind of wished that I had gone with them. And at only 500 more it seemed like a reasonable investment as upping the wheels aftermarket would be several thousand dollars. However, when I went to refresh my memory on the configurator, they kind of looked like they were 'painted' in the ginger ale color, and they didn't seem to go well with my tuxedo black. I guess at this point, whichever ends up at my dealer first (original order w/ 17's, or new one with 18's) will be the one I get. But I was hoping someone had seen the 18's on Black and that they did in fact still look good.
