  1. Here's a few pics of mine...installed this past weekend... A couple of good close-ups...just ignore the pollen please...
  2. So...last weekend I installed my Sharkfin...looks and works perfect...also did a partial de-badge by removing the EcoBoost badge. Washed her up and then drove around the sunshine state of Washington seeing the sights..while watching folks stare and do double takes. Up to this point, she already has tinted windows, splash guards, factory 19s and LED plate lights and reverse lamps. Still to come, tinted tailights and LED DRL/parking lights.. Also, Eleanor has right at 15000 miles on her...and she is awesome!
  3. This is only an issue if you purchase the RHD version of the parts designed for use in England. Most Euro countries drive on the same side of the road as we do and thus most Euro parts would be LHD compatible... FWIW...
  4. I am quickly closing in on 9K miles on mine...mileage started out around 20-21 (but I have to admit to a fair amount of using the remote start and lots of seat time with it idling while I was learning how all of the toys worked...not to mention the turbo is a LOT of fun to play with)...has been steadily increasing since I reached about 1500 miles and my last tank of gas ended up getting about 24.7 mpg. I reset the lifetime mileage readout around 3K and it currently reads 23.0. I plan to reset it again at 10K and see where it goes from there. My experience has been that when i get her out on the freeway, she loves it and the mileage starts to soar so long as I am not doing any significant uphill grades. Around town, jump on the gas when leaving a stoplight and she will drink like a sailor. That said, my overall city highway average is about 60/40 or 70/30 in terms of driving time (not miles driven) and I feel that the mileage is about where I would expect. I have a long trip from Seattle to eastern Idaho and back around mid-April and I am looking forward to seeing the mileage results. I will have 4 adults in the car on the drive out and 3 on the drive back, so these numbers won't directly correlate to my solo commute and around town driving, but I still expect the average to go up significantly.
  5. This is a photo of my car...just the hood...at sunset...taken with my iPhone Sunset reflection on Eleanor's bonnet...by texastenor, on Flickr I love the way she shines...
  6. There are several threads on this on multiple forums. This is not simply a user training issue. The issue only affects the 16.5 gallon tanks (which excludes the Hybrids and the AWD versions of the car). There are many folks with the 16.5 gallon tank who see 14+ gallon fill-ups with their DTE reading above 0 and the fuel gauge reading above empty. There are others who can only get more than 12 gallons in if they use a "slow-fill" approach by lettingthe tank sit for 30-60 secs between clicks of the pump. Then there are those folks like me who simply cannot get even 13 gallons in during a fill-up even when we drive the car several miles past 0 DTE. A couple of folks have driven their cars to stalling (no usable fuel left) and still got a fill-up of around 12-13 gallons. The tank part numbers are correct and show a 16.5 gal capacity, but it appears that some of them have flaws in their build such that the tank simply will not accept the appropriate (or advertised) amount of fuel. And for the record (but doubtful this will be the last time I say this), no modern automobile has a "designed" reserve of 20-25% which is what a 3.5-4 gallon reserve in a 16.5 gallon tank equates to... Also, I (for one) am quite competent when it comes to cars and have had a life-long love affair with the automobile in general which includes complete motor rebuilds and doing a ton of my own maintenance and troubleshooting over the years. I will state unequivocally that this is not the designed or expected behavior. There is definitely an issue and it will only get resolved if those who have the problem report it. I would politely ask those who are conjecturing and hypothesizing on the situation without any direct experience with a 2013 fitted with a 16.5 gallon tank to stop suggesting it is user error or an imagined issue. Lastly, I love this car!! The issue at hand needs to be resolved, but it is not reducing my enthusiasm for the car one little bit. Those of us who jumped in early became guinea pigs (as is typical with any all-new model release) and we get to help Ford sort out these issues...but we also get to be the first ones on the block with this awesome car. Just comes with the territory... :-)
  7. Evidently, I can't PM you because I don't have 40 posts yet...I'm very interested in these though. Want to send me an e-mail? holdentenor at gmail dot com... Thanks.
  8. I still own one of these...in exactly that color with exactly that trim level...it's kind of interesting to see it sitting next to the Fusion in my driveway...you can tell they are related, but then all you see are the differences. It is indeed a great little car and it has held up well thus far...has around 60K on it I think. (I rarely drive it because it simply doesn't fit me well...)
  9. I have to say that I am in agreement with most of the comments and reviews posted here in this thread...the positive ones that is. I simply love the car! The performance is better than expected, the handling is spot on, the looks...well...she's a knockout...drop-dead gorgeous...a real head-turner...in short, she's HOT! The features surpass all of the direct competitors and are executed very well, imho. I even like the MFT...mainly because I don't expect it to be anything it isn't and I accept the design solution they chose. Here's a couple of photos I took yesterday... Eleanor...watching the sunset - had to capture the beautiful reflection by texastenor, on Flickr Took Eleanor to the waterfront around sunset for some pics...golden hour...was a bit chilly but very worth it to get that light by texastenor, on Flickr Cheers,
  10. I think you are reading the rule backwards...the 70% in the rule should equate to 30% tint...but I will leave that to you to sort out...here are some pics of mine with 35% n the sides and 20% in the back...the legal limit here in WA state... By the way, if you are concerned, just ask the local tint shop to tell you what the legal limit is...they know for sure. Then you can decide if you want to risk it and try anything darker. For my money, i would not go darker than what I have...it is an excellent blend of privacy and visibility...imho image by texastenor, on Flickr image by texastenor, on Flickr image by texastenor, on Flickr Took Eleanor to the waterfront around sunset for some pics...golden hour...was a bit chilly but very worth it to get that light by texastenor, on Flickr
  11. As I am one of those who has the headliner issue to deal with, I asked the dealer about the removal and re-installation The headliner is held in place by the A, B and C pillars essentially. It is a molded, semi rigid assy that comes out in one piece. The fabric is attached to the rigid portion via glue, but that should not be impacted by your situation. The problems with the headliner that some of us are experiencing is a bad fabric fitment over the molded piece which causes wrinkles and an uneven finish. A simple remove and re-install should not affect that finish in any way since our issues are created during fabrication of the headliner itself.
  12. Still haven't seen any more off the lots...and only see a few on the lots...it's kinda cool being the only one around although I know there are a couple of others in the area because their owners post in this forum...just don't see them in my driving around town.
  13. My 2013 works just fine with my iPhone 4S. I typically only use it via Bluetooth. I do occasionally have to reset the Bluetooth on the phone to get it to connect, but that is not a routine occurrence... Be prepared to get the "iPhones may not work with the SYNC system" if you take the problem to the dealer. Apple has pretty much ticked off half of the auto makers and since they do not play well with others, companies like Ford are not wasting any time helping Apple customers figure out their issues.
  14. Being a long-time fan of Mazda (owned a 1983 Mazda 626 5-door), I just want to say that i am very happy we have the 2013 Fusion we have today. The new Mazda 6 is an attractive enough car, but the new Fusion is extraordinary, both in looks and in performance/handling. The problem with them sharing a platform is that the Fusion would have continued to be held back by Mazda's rather safe approach to mid-size autos (sad considering they were once 10 years ahead of everyone else in the class) rather than allowing it to blossom into the class leader it is now. Right now, the new 2013 Fusion is ahead of every other car in the segment in terms of looks, handling, technology and features. Give us an ST or SHO version and it will take the lead in the other areas as well. My humble opinion...
  15. All I did, was pair my iPhone with the system and it works. The first time you pair it, the message part may not come up, but turn the car off and back on and it is there. It does take a few minutes for the pairing to complete...and by that, I mean that the phone will pair and be ready to work as a phone, but other functions take a few more minutes to become available. If you have had yours paired for a while, I would delete the phone from the system and delete Sync from your bluetooth pairings...then start over fresh. Make sure to give it time to complete the entire process (5 minutes?). Ultimately, you will have the options come up on your phone and Sync: On the iPhone, after it is paired with Sync, go to: "Settings"/"Bluetooth" and press the arrow to the far right for "Sync" Under the "Forget this device" option, two settings should apprear: "Show Notifications" and "Sync Contacts" Each should have a Yes/No slider...set the slider to "Yes" for "Show Notifications" and then exit from the screen. The next time you connect the phone to the car, it should provide notifications of messages received.
  16. I will lend my input to this thread in that I agree with the comments and praise heaped on the car thus far. It has met or exceeded my expectations continually since I picked her up and I have to say, my only issues thus far have been driver induced...in that the driver is not yet sure of just how good this thing is and so he holds back just a bit. Slowly exploring the limits though...with a big smile on my face each time I do. :D
  17. I think it is interesting that the graphic shows the 19" rims from the Titanium...which aren't available on the Hybrid yet...as far as I know.
  18. That's cool...I just keep hearing people nitpick and turn little pebble size issues into boulders. I just want to tell them "Enjoy this awesome car, people!!" As I said, I just took my car in yesterday for the headlamp recall and had them look at about 8-10 other very minor issues...some of which they confirmed and either fixed or said they would look into a fix with Ford. I picked the car back up this afternoon and it was like being back home after a long trip. I will start a thread to list the issues I had them look at and the answers I got...some of the items will take a little time to resolve, but I plan on having the car for a while and I got the maintenance package (free maintenance for 5 years/100,000 miles), so I know I will get opportunities for the issues to get addressed soon enough.
  19. Not sure who this "everybody" is that you are referring to...but since I am somebody and I am not complaining... All the posts I have seen from folks who have actually taken delivery have been 99% positive. I know I love mine and I feel very lucky to be one of the first in town to own one. Any nagging nits that I get to deal with are worth it to me. I have had that brought home very clearly the past day and a half as I drive this crappy Chevy truck rental while my Fusion is in for the headlamp recall and a few other items I am having them look at. I waqnt my car back so bad, i can taste it and I do not want to even drive this truck back to the dealer to get my car...
  20. Yes. I can receive messages with my iPhone 4S and iOS 6.0.1. The MAP profile was modified in the newest iOS and will work with the newest version of Sync (3.5.1 I think). It will notify you of a message and will read it to you, but due to other aspects of the MAP profile, it will not allow you to dictate messages to send. You can get around this by simply using Siri to dictate the message (or the imbedded voice to text function...which is not Siri). When you have the phone paired with hte car, and you try to use any of the voice commands with the iPhone, it will work through the car's speaker and microphone...it just won't be using the Sync system to recognize the speech and convert it to text. I solve this by mounting my iPhone on the front windscreen near the mirror and it is simply another touch and voice interface that i can use hands free without taking my eyes off the road.
  21. I think you will be quite pleasantly surprised with the overall noise level inside the car...several car-mag reviewers have commented on it with statements like "The FIRST thing I notice(d) while driving the car is how quiet it is." I get the impression that it has caught them off guard with the level of noise isolation and cancellation technology. All of the noise I get is coming from having the stereo on or because I am applying the pedal on the right with some gusto...
  22. I have the same rattle/buzz!! I'm gonna get the dealer to check it out when I take her in for the headlamps on Wed.
  23. I'm not so sure about the capacity...I remember seeing somewhere that the Fusion had a 13.5 gallon tank...don't remember where, but it is more consistent with the 11-12 gallon fill-ups when down to less than 50 miles (16 on mine this morning when I filled up) left on the range indication and under 1/8 of a tank showing. Also, I do not like the fact that the gauge drops so quickly from full to 3/4...normally less than 30 miles...I know that fuel gauges are notorious for having irregular movement over the range of the scale, but this is very disconcerting...
  24. You should also sign up for the MyFord owner site and MySync. I got wind of the headlight recall the day it was issued from Ford (11/27, I think) on my iPhone when I logged into the MyFord webApp. As far as the headlamp recall, I am one of those impacted. Called the dealer today and asked how long it would take to get the parts. They will have the parts tomorrow and could have installed them on Monday. I am waiting until Wed for personal reasons, but I am also going to have them look at a host of other minor issues and questions I have...like the Auto Climate control not recognizing that it is cold outside...a skip/pause that occurs semi regularly in the stereo and some other items that seem not quite right. They did confirm that the bumper has to come off for the headlamp replacement...along with the front tires and inner fender wells...oh joy. I will let you know how everything goes once I get the work done.
  25. I have been using Pandora for music for a couple of years now...love it. And I use Tune-in for local and talk radio...have had a Bluetooth stereo in my previous daily driver for a year or so... I have a question though...for Sirius and Bluetooth...the sound is ok, but I keep getting these "skips" or "pauses" with both...has anyone else experienced this behavior? It's normally just a momentary thing, but it does get annoying at times.
