  1. I thought this was an April Fool's Day joke. The review is fairly positive (as are many of the readers' comments.) http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1404_2014_lincoln_mkz_hybrid_first_test/ "No question about it, the 2014 Lincoln MKZ hybrid is one of the best cars in its class." "More than one driver remarked on how well the touch-sensitive HVAC and audio buttons worked, and it's fun to watch a light follow your finger's movement as you reduce the volume or air. It's a detail you won't find on the mechanically related Fusion..." "In Real MPG testing, a 2014 MKZ hybrid got 52.2 mpg in the city, 41.7 mpg on the highway, and 46.9 mpg combined, compared to the EPA's 45/45 mpg rating." "The MKZ's best feature, of course, is its styling. Although those attractive, darkened 19-inch wheels will affect the ride quality, they also enhance the Lincoln's design."
  2. "Zed" is the Canadian pronunciation of "Zee". I remember my Canadian cousins saying their ABCs when we were kids and they would finish with X Y Zed.
  3. This is the commercial nobling is talking about. IMO calling the stripe on her skirt the lower half of a Chevy emblem is really stretching it a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LBA4Y40WM0
  4. If anyone is in the San Diego area, Witt Lincoln near the Fashion Valley Mall will have the MKC on display (along with music & food) tonight from 5:00 to 7:30pm: https://www.facebook.com/WittLincoln/photos/pb.190637797627153.-2207520000.1395869246./770666992957561/?type=3&theater
  5. New 2015 GMC Yukon catches fire during test drive. I guess that's less embarrassing than when the then-new Durango caught fire while in a parade. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/03/23/car-catches-on-fire-during-test-drive-in-anaheim/
  6. Here's my crude revision to the old Theo chop with a new '15 Navi inspired grille. I also deleted the kink in the shoulder, lengthened the trunk a bit, and changed the rear doors to suicide doors.
  7. Interview with Elaine Bannon, chief engineer for the 2015 Navigator (starts around the 27min mark.) http://www.autoline.tv/journal/?p=30379 One interesting thing she said was that the '15 Navigator was "engineered to a standard" and not a price point. Not sure I fully believe that.
  8. I also like the 3-blink signal. Had it in my '05 & now '08 Mercerdes. Whenever I drive a car without it I end up just blinking once. It's more of a "Hey, I'm changing lanes" than a "Please, can I move over?" If you can't change lanes in the time it takes for 3 blinks, you're doing it wrong.
  9. So here's an update to my "I hate Caruso Lincoln's service department" saga: I finally had time to bring the car to the dealer for the squeaky brake pedal. I showed up around 12:15pm and could not find a service advisor for 15 minutes. I understand they could've been at lunch but shouldn't they leave at least one person around just in case? When I finally found someone he asked if I would leave the car. I told him I needed a loaner which is covered with the premium care warranty. He went to check and (or course) there were no cars available. I refused a shuttle ride home so he told me I needed to make an appointment if I wanted a loan car. I reminded him that this problem (which they have already tried to fix once) was intermittent and that the last time I made an appointment they wouldn't even take the car because it wasn't making the noise. How was I supposed to make an appointment for a problem that is intermittent? He just shrugged his shoulders with an I don't care attitude. The he said they didn't have a brake tech available anyway because he went home sick. By this time my blood was boiling and I used a few choice words and drove off. After I cooled down I called South Bay Ford/Lincoln to see if they would give me a loan car if I brought the car to them. After being on hold for 13 minutes I hung up and called again and asked the receptionist if she could help me. She found an available advisor who told me to bring the car in. What a night/day difference. South Bay Lincoln is paired with Ford so I expected a lower level of service. They took the car back immediately to diagnose the issue before the squeaking stopped. The facilities are not nice to look at compared to the luxurious interiors at the other dealer but they practically held my hand and walked me through the waiting lounge, the cafe (whose food smelled really good), parts department & cashier areas. Unlike Caruso, SB uses Enterprise so loan cars are always available and I was told if they didn't have a comparable Lincoln available they would find a dealer-owned car for me to use. Unfortunately, Enterprise only had one guy working so it took another 30 minutes to get my loaner but least it was a 2013 MKZ 3.7. It has been so frustrating getting this car serviced. Maybe I'm too hard to please.
  10. Are we about to see an MKS concept? Lincoln's Facebook page has started pushing the current MKS in the same way that they featured the current Navigator a few weeks before the '15 debuted.
  11. 2014 MKX Limited new Ceramic white & charcoal interior with contrasting red stitching. Very reminiscent of the Black Label Modern Heritage theme without the black & metal flake wood.
  12. Here's a live pic showing the standard sized wheels. Anyone know where this is on display? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151874417358639&set=a.116039148638.101196.92618568638&type=1&theater
  13. 2b2, follow the link to the purple MKC and the colors are on the wall behind it. There's one semi-close up pic on that page.
  14. And in Tuxedo black (with Vivica A. Fox): http://luxetipsmag.com/author/luxe-tips/
  15. I thought for sure the Tahitian Pearl color wouldn't look like it does on the MKC colorizer but here it is in all it's purple glory: A few more pics at http://www.carrentingreviews.com/2014/01/25/2014-washington-dc-auto-show/
  16. New MKC commercial. Doesn't show much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WXvBJNyXeE
  17. From the Lincoln website: "With the available EcoBoost® engine now an option, coupled with available Lincoln Drive Control, the refreshed Navigator is performance anew." Option? Does that mean there's a second engine available or is it just a mistake?
  18. Looks better in motion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6licT8RkQY The LED squiggles under the projectors are never on in the video so when do they light up?
  19. So tired of hearing this. There's an '06 Navigator sitting in my garage with barely 63k miles on it because of gas prices. Why own it? Because it tows our travel trailer. I can't tell you how much I hate seeing the trip computer say 11-13 mpg.
  20. I think what makes it look odd in the pic is that the hood is popped open making the front end look taller than it really is. I think it's an improvement.
  21. And here it is in (I'm guessing) Silver Sand: More pics: www.affairesdegars.com/page/article/4156050507/salon-de-auto-de-montreal-lincoln-devoile-son-nouveau-lincoln-mkc-2015-equipe-de-mylincoln-mobile.html
  22. Found this on the net: If, for some reason, you think 19" wheels are too small here is a new MKZ on 24" wheels. More pics at the address shown. I vote "NO".
  23. A few years ago Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Newport Beach provided loaners but they wouldn't be MBZs unless you bought your car from their dealership or you paid for an upgrade. It was the DaimlerChrysler days so once I had a Sebring and 2X a PT Cruiser. It was kinda impressive to see their huge fleet of loaner C-Classes lined up in the morning ready to go. From what I saw at Lincoln the last time I dropped off my loaner their "fleet" was 4 old MKZs. But the worst was when my mother came back from the Cadillac dealer in a Dodge Dakota loaner.
  24. There were 2 at the LA Auto show. The white one was rotating on the stand and a second smoked quartz one was off to the side but locked and behind ropes so not only could you not sit in it, you couldn't even get a close up look at the interior.
