  1. It was a red herring from the start. Nothing more than a ploy to try to get the companies to hire more people and in turn pad the pockets of the union from the influx of dues money. On top of that, hardly anyone actually wants that. What’s really being asked for is change the language in the contract to prevent the abuse of mandatory overtime. It’s not so much a Ford and GM problem but it’s for sure a Stellantis problem.
  2. He’s clearly banking on them seeing what the big 3 union workers are getting and wanting to vote to join the union. A bold strategy had he not messed up by airing all the dirty laundry of negotiations.
  3. Agreed. I’ve questioned that from the very beginning. It’s nice getting updates for a change but not worth it for the situation we ended up in.
  4. Just one, really, and he’s got the masses brainwashed. You should see some of the vitriol directed at Bill Ford after todays speech in the Facebook groups. There’s no hope of this ending without arbitration.
  5. The back pay part isn’t very common but I personally know 1 person who got that deal.
  6. Sounds like not much at all. I will say this, after this is all over if the union thinks they can keep up the status quo as far as attendance policy and other day to day operational matters are concerned they can kiss that goodbye. I think gone are the days where if you get fired for attendance policy violations you wait a set period and get your job back with back pay and retaining your seniority.
  7. I 100 percent agree with you, but I think doing that is only going to stir the pot with union leaders, well one in particular at least, and cause them to dig their heels in even more.
  8. I get the feeling the stuff that remains to be settled is the stuff there’s no way on god’s green earth the company is going to agree to like pensions for all, post-retirement health care and the battery plant representation issue.
  9. The details of Ford’s most recent offer have been out for 2 weeks
  10. Bill Ford is going to speak to the future of American Manufacturing at 10am. It will be on YouTube
  11. Im liable to punch the next person that says that word to my face. I’m tired of hearing that and hold the line. So much so, I don’t ever want to hear the song Hold the Line by Toto ever again for the rest of my life.
  12. Nope, not watching any of that bullshit propaganda.
  13. Not to worry you more, there’s talk out of Dearborn of going to 1 shift come February at REVC where the Lightning is built.
  14. I never seriously said they should. When I said that I was playing devils advocate and I thought I made that clear. My whole argument is why has the 1 percent had their pay go up so much while the rest of us stayed stagnant? That’s the core issue.
  15. I’ve said it multiple times in the other thread. The only way this ends is through arbitration and a contract forced on us by a third party.
  16. I heard a few things today I’m not at liberty to discuss that makes this not surprising at all.
  17. AFAIK they still own the land and the structure is partially built. Might be a good time to tell the union GFY.
  18. Well I disagree that it needs to be taken quite to that extreme based on the comments I’m seeing from the general membership but I firmly believe that at this point the only way this gets settled is through arbitration, which would be a gigantic L for Shawn Fain.
  19. Where did you see that? I would like to read the whole thing
  20. You bring up a great point. I’m glad I’m starting my apprenticeship now so my kids will be able to see the sacrifices I’m making to provide for them, at least the older two. The youngest being 3 probably won’t understand until I’m nearly finished.
  21. I did what I needed to do and got into the apprenticeship program, I’m not your example here.
  22. I never said that, don’t put words in my mouth. The whole push for fast food workers to get $15+/hour never made sense to me. Those aren’t meant to be long term jobs, those are jobs for high school kids to make a few bucks, older people for something to do after they retire or to make ends meet in between jobs. Big 3 factory jobs were for the longest time the pinnacle of middle class employment, why should that not continue? I’m reasonable with my money trying to raise a family of 5 and I can no longer do so without picking and choosing what bills I can pay on time. That’s not right. We definitely deserve a raise after having stagnant wages for the last decade after the Great Recession. Now that being said I still thing UAW leadership is being entirely unreasonable with their demands, and I’m far from the only one. Go look through the comments on todays YouTube stream. Opinions are starting to change and Shawn Fain doesn’t have the support within the rank and file he thinks he does.
