  1. Maybe we could all learn from these kids. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/2015/11/09/flint-firebirds-quit/75443996/ Vote no! Fight for more!
  2. Both tiers should be gaining so much more. We owe it to eachother to all vote no. You never know what you can gain if you don't fight for it. You can't alway live in fear. For those who say "how do you know we would get more?". My answer is I don't. I am willing to try though. If they come back with the same deal then so be it, if they come back with more then that's great. Either way you know you tried. I am voting no because I'm not afraid of the unknown.
  3. My Union brother/sister calm the keyboard rage. I am not arguing with you. Just trying trying to give reason for which you are mad. Trust me I know it's annoying having to correct people all the time, but I do it in hopes they correct someone else. The more people that know the truth the better. When the unions were in their heyday they had a lot lot of public support even from people that wernt in the union. We need the public support again. I'm flattered you think I should be in buisness law, it's only a intro to buisness class though. So we haven't really gone into detail on how much has to be reported. Hopefully I can work my way to buisness or labor law. I hear you on the weather. It's been yet another record breaking winter in Michigan. Just bought a house, the repairs never stop when your a homeowner I'm learning. I can't imagin 9-12s straight. I'm working 5-6 days 12hrs. What kind of schedual are you on?
  4. Well from what I understand, according to my buisness class, Ford being a public company has to disclose all information like pay, bonuses, earnings, ect. No one wants to invest and buy stock in a company with out knowing what is going on at that company. (I may or may not have fallen asleep in that class so no promises that's right lol). I dont think most people are ignorant, they just don't know. As a wise man once said "You can' know what you don't know untill you know". So don't fault someone for being misinformed. Take a second and teach them.
  5. If you were really a leader you would be concerned about the needs and wants of everyone. A union is about looking out for everyone. As a tier2 worker, yes I want a raise but at the same time I would never ask a tier1 worker to take a pay cut for me. Ever since I got hired I have put a little money from every check into a different account as my own strike fund. My parents who have worked for ford 20+ years have always done the same. I remember growing up, as they got closer to the contract being up we cut expenses. Everything from vacations, to grocery shopping, to eating out was all cut back. Heck even the cable could be shut off. I don't want to strike but I am prepared to if it come to that.
  6. In the flat rock state of the city address when the mayor was talking about project coming up in the city, he at one point says something along the lines of "possible expansion of operations of the ford facility". Any idea what this means? Video of the address can be found at the news herald web site.
  7. Again I say to littlecountryIs there something wrong with wanting to better ones self? A complacent person is a person that will never make gains. Everyone should alway make the effort to better their position in life
  8. Is there something wrong with wanting to better ones self? A complacent person is a person that will never make gains. So yes I do want more. I'm not complaing about my situation, I'm happy with where I am in life. At the same time though I will always try to better my self. Growing up with both parents working for Ford I learned how fickle the auto industry is. While I work for ford I will try to get more. I will also take advantage of the college fund to get a degree and open my self to more chances to better my self. I want to give my self the option to leave ford for something better. If I feel ford is my best option then I will know I have a rout for plan B in the event my plant closed. I want more, I will fight for more, and I don't feel bad about it. Everyone should want more.
  9. Something I would like in the next contract is more money in the college fund, and allow people to use more money for books. College costs keep going up.
  10. My money is going toward a new mustang lol
  11. Thank you tool time for helping answer my question.
  12. Some shifts don't work for some people. Everyone has the right to complain about that. Some people like days, nights, splits, it don't matter. I know for my self I could care less what shift I am on, just stay away from me untill I have adjusted my sleep pattern lol.
  13. Are there any plants that run 3 8hr shifts or are they all A,B, and then a split shift C?
  14. I could be wrong but if I remember right isn't the 6900 what you get if you worked 40hrs a week every week of the year? Like your hours added up need to be the equivalent of that or higher for the full amount. You can't make more then the 6900. Is that correct?
  15. Sorry about that, good old butt dial got the best of me. I think both tiers can agree that sucks when that happens lol.

  18. Well said DTPrt. We are only weak because most choose to be. Most people would rather sit around and complain insted of act. We all need to stand up and act to fix what we complain about every day. If everyone fought together we could make this a strong proud Union again. If you have a "bad" union rep, read the contract books. When properly informed on the contract you are a more powerful member. You can't protect your rights if you don't know them properly. You don't have to memorize the books, but make sure you know where to find answers to your problems. We need to be each other's keepers.
  19. I don't blame tier1, in fact I thank them for voteing how they did at the time. In a way it was very smart. It allowed for more people to be added to the union body. Now we that make up the body have to make it stronger. Tier 1 voting how they did was smart because it kept the pay and benifit "celing" high. If they would have taken cuts it would have lowered the goal for everyone. Tier2 should latch on to tier1 and say help me get to where you are. Tier1 shoul grab onto tier2 and say help me protect what I already have. If we do that we become a stronger Union. A strong union can chip away at the division of the tiered system.
  20. United We Stand Divided We Fall Those six words are what a union should stand by. As soon as a Two Tier system was put into place, the workforce was divided thus dividing the union. Tier 1 wants a raise as they should. Tier 2 wants to be equal with Tier 1 as they should also. We need to stop fighting against each other and instead fight with and for each other. We cant get everything we want in the next contract but if we stand together we can make it better then what we have. Every one of us needs to stop blaming our elected reps, or the other tier. The reps are not the union, WE all are what make the union. Everyone of us has the ability to make our union stronger. I fight for and with all my union brothers and sister. It wont be right to work in Michigan that kills the unions, it will be the fact that we were to busy fighting each other. Lets stand up in arms together to make sure this does not happen.
  21. I dont think its that Tier2 people are not grateful for having their jobs. I know from my self and the people I work around we are very grateful. Its just that the small percentage that is not happy is louder about it. negative stuff is always louder then positive stuff. Think in the form of news papers, the negative stuff tends to get more coverage. An example of that would be Lions loss getting more coverage than the Red Wings making the playoffs for 20+ years. I would never expect to walk into any place and make the same as someone who has 10,15,20+ years in. The part that bothers me, under the current contract I cant ever reach what a tier1 worker makes even if I am here 15 years. Yes I am aware that it goes by a percentage and at some point I could get moved up in pay, but there is no set date or time frame for that to happen.
