  1. I feel that when we are talking about government mandates, how can you not bring up the current administration, who would be to some degree in control of those mandates? Also, we're talking about climate change and that's why electric is even a thing. I say we stop talking about climate change and politics, and talk about a better Ford/Lincoln and the auto industry as a whole. Aside from climate change, why is electric better? Why must we switch? The train has left, we are progressing, but certain people factor to what degree. I'm all for mpg improvement and cleaner air. The thing is, I have great air already, so I don't need any better. I get 18 mpg average, I'm fine with that, it's the cost of luxury when you drive a $65k when brand new (over priced like all these luxury vehicles) car. If I wanted better gas, I should be driving a more fuel efficient, but still nice Chevy or Ford. I've been calling for the largest cities and areas with high industrial production to run day to day operations on "cleaner" energy to preserve air quality. But I think the little people shouldn't have to drop at least a $10k premium for electric motors.
  2. There's nothing wrong with that to me for a MKC or MKX as an option, as long as the warranty is exceptional. No one literally will know how to fix them besides the dealer for a time. Not that it's rocket science, but still you can't expect old dogs to learn that new of tricks fast. If you need a battery swapped or motors, fine and dandy, but that's not going to be cheap.
  3. If it were up to me and I had the money, I'd own a MKX, Continental, Navigator, every Cadillac, Jaguar, BMW 7-Series, MB S-class, every Rolls Royce, and every Bentley. All in highest trim and performance capability.... That's not possible in the short term, but that's nice to think about. Every vehicle/brand named appeals greatly to me and I would not be ashamed to own, even though they all sit on different levels. My daily driver would probably be an Escalade/CT6 and the Continental/Navigator when I want to switch it up and the rest for fun. Then again, a Bentley Continental GT or Flying Spur Speed W12 would be a nice dd, or Rolls Royce Wraith with V12..... By far my favorite economically realistic brand is Cadillac as a whole.
  4. It's quite funny you just mentioned the Model S P100D. Just was looking at it..... Never would drive one, hate the styling, but the stats are impressive performance wise, as I said I don't discredit. But the range is laughable. And nearly 5,000lbs???? That'll be great for our roads. Oh and to boot, it you can get one today for just $130,000!!!! Never will I.... I know about solar panels, we get sales calls every summer. You have to have direct sunlight on your roof. My house is nestled around trees, so it's a no go. I would prefer not to be energy independent, because when my independence fails, I'm stranded and left alone with the consequences. Trump is trying to unleash our own oil, as opposed to the Middle East. Good story though. I'll post back when I get the next Escalade with the 4.2TT V8, 10-speed trans, IRS, air ride, etc. have fun with the electrics.
  5. And that's my point. The people who feel that it is a great product can buy the Lincoln competitor to the I-Pace. I think it looks cool for a second, but then I see the XF, XJ, F-type, F-Pace, and I just want them, and could care less about the I-Pace. I don't discredit electric capability in performance enhancement, but I discredit the overall concept and consensus that it's better, because as of today, it is not in every area. It's only better in one area, and that is instantaneous torque, which if you have a Tesla and run Ludicrous mode, well you aren't going to be driving it home if you don't live close to the track, that's for sure. You'll be hauling it in your 250/2500 Platinum/Denali diesel rig in a car hauler.
  6. Why don't we talk about what could make Lincoln a better brand? Not give unrealistic goals or things that "should be", but things within the realms of reality for the next 5-10 years which will have many new models and platforms.
  7. Yeah, I don't understand what this dynamic is on this forum. Everyone is always wrong seems to be the going thing around here. I just want great vehicles, efficient, powerful, RWD, better V6 and V8 options, and better transmissions. There is plenty of room for improvement in other areas, I don't know what the big push is for electric. Also, I don't know why members are acting as if the government has made any policy changes regarding electric autos? If anything, it's just the opposite. This government wants cleaner coal and more efficiency from that area. Why should this country endure anymore financial stress completely switching over to electric and abandoning fossil fuels? It's a bad idea at a time like this. It's not like we're going to run out, we have enough fuels to last over a century, and there's plenty more to be discovered. Climate change is not affected by humans, or the earth should have been starting to cool back down. We are at record lows in over 20 years for emissions. It is all natural, just as the earth rotates around the sun, so is climate change and natural storms. Just from a financial business standpoint, the costs incurred by everyone in this country, had things gone the other way, to go fully electric, god help us all. There would be no money for anything else. Highly doubt any or as fast a recovery for these hurricanes without fossil fuels. Electric is not far enough along, end of story. No point in rushing Lincoln into something like that, when the brand is still rebuilding. A ton of people won't look at them as it is, let alone when prices increase by the 10's of thousands, because of newly introduced electric. More hybrids are welcomed, but also need to keep traditional options. I'd say RWD is a more important goal for Lincoln than going electric. I think more premium luxury car buyers care more about how their vehicle rides and performs, more so than saving the planet when nothing changes anyway. Make a mode e Lincoln for the save-the-planet club.it could go against Jaguar's I-Pace. See what a little joke that Jag is? I wouldn't be caught dead in one, or the Model 3.....
  8. What do you mean "Nope"? I thought everything rumor wise has suggested the Aviator will launch either as a 2019 or in 2019? 2018's are coming out, that's why I said within a MY, meaning next year sometime give or take..... So you're saying it won't be before 2020?
  9. It's good, that means the Aviator is around the corner within the next MY.
  10. Let's not forget who our Supreme Court is for maybe the next decade or so. They are constitutionalists.....
  11. This isn't North Korea, stop making it out to be that we have Clinton as president. The government is giving the consumer the freedom to choose. I'm fully 100% against government overreach, and it would be unconstitutional to deny an American citizen the right to drive a vehicle he chooses. It's a privilege to have a license to drive, but it is a right to choose your vehicle. Just like it's a privilege to have a concealed carry permit, but it's a right to bear arms.
  12. Lol this thread sounds like a SNL skit.... I mean really, are you guys serious? There is simply no way the government can mandate electric vehicles within the next 10-15 years, they literally would cripple the economy in the blink of an eye. Especially if the liberals are kept out of control. Sorry to rain on your parade, but not going to happen...... My question would be to you all, if you want an electric luxury car so bad, why aren't you driving Tesla's in stead of Lincoln's? If I say RWD is better, and I prefer V8's, or at least not over tuned small V6's, I'm told to go buy a Cadillac. So, if electric is so much better, why isn't any of the supporters here driving an electric vehicle? Fully electric vehicles for the mass market are easily 15 years, maybe 25 years off. 2005 feels like yesterday, time flies, and no one is far enough along with a vehicle that has a large range and fast charge times for the same or less than gas/diesel, to be throwing around time frames within 10 years. Mark my words, there will not be a fully electric Lincoln within the decade. If there is, it will be half baked guaranteed, and flop like most of the Lincoln's that get thrown out to people without refining them. Also, why do we have to change everything? What is wrong with miles? My God, do people have nothing better to do than to want to change everything about this country? I'm not talking only automotive, I have a good sense of the views about many things just from most of these posts. Poor opinions, not many facts. That real truth is, we are admitting less carbon monoxide now, than in 1994. The planet is going through a natural phase. It's called evolution..... We as humans breathing admit more carbon monoxide everyday. Autos are a small percent, I think all these factories are the bigger concern. And not for the climate, but for smog and things relating to air quality. Where I live, I have plenty of green to support great air. Here's a fact, not opinion: higher co2 levels are promoting a rise in green growth of trees(which promote and create oxygen), plants/vegetation.
  13. More importantly, what is going to happen when out of warranty and no one knows how to repair an electric powertrain? These vehicles will be far more advanced, regular shops won't be able to fix them. It'll be dealer only like the aluminum body trucks and they'll bend everyone over the hood of their nice electric Lincoln that doesn't work anymore. And don't say they don't break, because anything mass produced WILL breakdown somewhere somehow sometime..... Maybe the majority will last a decade, but doubtful. I don't see an electric propulsion vehicle to last longer than 10 years. We keep our cars for the long haul when we buy them loaded, we aren't Rockefeller's, just do ok enough to afford loaded Lincoln's and Cadillac's. I wouldn't to pay $80k for an electric Continental to have it break in 5 years.
  14. Whoa whoa wait a tick are you being serious? If you are serious, may I ask who are you and where have you been? You're awesome..... spot on..... agree 100% that's my views on everything. Seems odd, almost spooky that you said what you said. Bravo sir, good day to you. ??????????????????

  16. LMFAO that's funny stuff..... Anyone know who Vic DiBitetto is? He's a real funny guy.... Enough of me, back to why Lincoln should be an electric brand....
  17. The only downfall of my DTS is it is FWD with a 4-speed transmission..... absolute disgrace and I think about selling it everyday. but, it does cruise the highway nicely.
  18. The DTS gets compliments everywhere, several idiots thought it was a 2013, 14, 12, 15.... obviously no clue of production runs..... I told them to look at the regi..... couldn't believe it......
  19. You got it..... nicer, higher quality than any Lincoln pre 2017 I've been in.....
  20. I planned on a CTS-V, but then decided I wanted a STS-V, and then said screw it and got the DTS, due to the fact this was a deal that doesn't come up every day. CTS-V is next year. The original original plan was a Navigator or Escalade, the. I looked at MKS ecoboost, which I liked pre 2013 models, but the numbers just didn't make sense for what the car's were, they aren't the Germans, the dealers aound don't realize that. There was that MKS Ecoboost sport package, like how the LS had the different skirts, spoiler, front and rear fascia, that's what I wanted. I'm going to wait for the Escalade until the year old and two year old ones come in.
  21. Haha I already drive one, I bought it with my own money.... 2011 Platinum DTS every single option possible. And mommy's side has the businesses and money, but daddy is great at construction and HVAC.
