  1. I’m fully aware of the whole history of the whole UAW to CAW to UNIFOR history. Ya it’s just OAC the Windsor engine operations and 3 distribution centres left in Canada. It was a shame to see old Ford Talbotville go and get demolished and now a damn Amazon Distributon Centre is in its place . As for OAC, OAC has been known to turn down contracts but there were more operations to offset past no votes. When Talbotville was closing they signed an agreement to get a reprieve so basically voted for a contract that OAC was against and I didn’t damn well blame them at the time because their plant was closing. Anyways I question how much teeth this workforce has anymore. Time will tell!
  2. It’s somewhat accurate but the Edge for example has been extended to the 2nd quarter of 2024. They may as well build the Edge til July 2024 at the rate they’re going because they’re EV plan seems to be lacking
  3. I seen a report on Autoforecast Solutions that there was only and Aviator EV GT and no ICE Aviator after 2025 I thought it was a typo months ago. They better have more products in the pipeline cause Lincoln is thin on products. I hope this corporation knows what they’re doing, all this plan changing is annoying to me.
  4. You couldn’t be more correct and it’s quite frustrating.
  5. That’s true, Unifor isn’t the UAW they’re their own entity. I just hope we don’t get a less than UAW contract AGAIN! Then again we’re just poor cousin Canadians up here!
  6. My Unifor union is taking the quiet approach I actually like what the UAW is doing. We all deserve some gains I don’t think all of what is being proposed will happen. That’s my opinion though.
  7. So then what do YOU think will be the results of this show and Sabre rattling??
  8. It’s all about aerodynamics according to what I’ve read. They have no product to show yet they’re probably still working out the kinks. Remember that the Mach-e and these two products OAC is supposed to get were all gonna be built at Cuatitlan Assembly. We will see if the Mach-E ever gets to the numbers they want. Interesting ideas you have that I doubt Ford will do unfortunately.
  9. I’m taking it with a big grain of salt. Jim Farley said the Edge is a commodity product, so why would they make an EV version. They still haven’t told us or showed us what we will be building at OAC. Just rumours and hearsay!
  10. Makes me sick that China has some better looking products than we do in my opinion.
  11. It’s a great vehicle but we know it’s not coming to North America like ever lol
  12. Agreed that wagon Chinese Edge sure as hell don’t look like an Edge to me.
  13. The Evos looks great but it reminds me of an ICE version of the Mach-E. It’s quite clear that they have styling similarities. Am I wrong?
  14. Now in saying what I said obviously the 300 that remained were probably very high seniority workers but Oshawa had an older workforce and there were a lot of buyouts. I thought that plant was dead in the water then they reopen it that’s why I allege they did what they did to get a cheaper workforce. I forgot about Detroit Hamtramack being converted to EV as well.
  15. I don’t blame them for fighting that nobody wants their plant to close which is obvious.
  16. I don’t think that UAW strike at the time was that effective. I don’t remember the details. I do remember GM UAW was down for a month to minimal gains if I’m not mistaken.
  17. The strike that GM had in Canada was the GM CAMI plant in Ingersol, Ontario in 2017. The strike was for a month. GM moved the Terrain and eventually some Equinox production to Mexico and threatened to close the plant now they’re building GM Brightdrop vans with limited production because they don’t have enough batteries. GM I believe knew what they were doing all along and did a legacy dump to get rid of older workers and rehire new cheaper workforce. Only 300 people remained after plant closed as Oshawa was only a stamping operation and test track until it fully reopened.
  18. One of those 4 plants you mention was GM OSHAWA which closed in 2019 and was resurrected a couple of years later cranking out ICE pick up trucks. Unifor territory.
