  1. I'm honestly not too crazy about the name. Sounds a bit juvenile for a people hauler. But, then again...there are some silly names out there. Looking forward to seeing it though.
  2. You ask this here? And expect an unbiased answer? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Tell ya what, when I've driven both...I'll give you an honest answer.
  3. Not to take sides here, but let's be real. The same link you provided for those quotes above has quotes for every make...Ford as well:
  4. I knew that one was not going last. Interesting idea, not the greatest execution.
  5. I for one, CAN attest to the quality in Hyundai products as I've owned two for the past 2-3 years. 2004 Sonata - About to hit 60K miles. Never in the shop for anything. All I've done is oil changes and brakes at around 45K. That's it. 2005 Santa Fe - About to hit 12K miles (had it two years, but its the wife's and she doesn't drive much). Again, no problems, just oil changes. No squeaks or rattles either have developed on either, nor any trim or wear problems. They both look like the day I bought them. Now, I don't think I'm an exception to the rule. Would I recommend a Hyundai to someone? Absolutely. Did I buy either of them with sporting intentions. No. The Sonata was to throw miles on and the Santa Fe was to replace my wife's old Jeep and have something to get her through the snow and fit strollers in the back. They are what they are and they are good at it. Would I take either up to 147mph? No, but then again, I never had any of my Mustangs over 110 mph either. Again, I like the driving dynamics of the previous generation Sonata over the new one...that's based on driving both. I do like the trunk and size of the newer Sonata better though.
  6. You don't? Who does? (Waiting to see the wizard behind the curtain)
  7. The old Sonata was better in every way except size. I rented a Sonata in Dallas and it was way too floaty for me. The old Sonata feels stiffer and handles much better while staying as quiet as the new one. That being said, dull and uninspiring does not make it a bad car. It just makes it a boring one.
  8. As odd as the big door handles are we do have to remember guys with work gloves will be using them. Hence the plain black plastic and full size handles. I still maintain it looks out of place, but at the same time, we need to take the intended use into consideration. This would not be something I'd expect to see on a casual use pickup, but a contractor's most likely.
  9. I was gong to say the same exact thing. Great idea....good execution except the door handle.
  10. What was GM's market share for those two years? I'd have to venture that both GM and Ford picked up some market share since 2001 with the disappearance of the Ram Van.
  11. Apparently not as many people who did last January/February.
  12. Ir also shows what a real POC the Freestar was........ The Ford Freestar was at almost 70% fleet sales (with the vast majority going to daily rental fleets) yet it barely managed 15% of the sales of the Dodge & Chrysler minivans.
  13. That was bad..... Its more like they are so annoying, you can't forget them. That may not be a bad thing though....
  14. The RWD program started prior to the merger.
  15. Ouch. They are going to have to rebate the heck out of those 500's and Mnotego's before the new Taurus and Sables get to dealers. Hmmmm....might be a good time to buy.
  16. That is correct, the rear end is a modified unit... I edited my post to reflect, thought I had actually included that until I re-read what I wrote..
  17. Amazon allows you to choose which store you buy an item from. Many books do, in fact come from local book stores. Alot of the locals have gotten into this to stave off the heavy competition from the big book stores.
  18. Are you guys talking about the book "CAR"? I've read it numerous times. Basically, the a book of the development (and ultimate failure) of the 96 Taurus. You can buy it HERE A book about the development of the ORIGINAL Taurus can be found HERE (just picked up a copy for 40 cents).
  19. That would be the LX cars....LH was the prev gen Intrepid, Concorde, LHS. Common misconception. LX's are NOT built on Mercedes underpinnings. They do however use some shared parts. Some parts that are shared or re-engineered are the transmission used in the V8 and AWD models, rear end, steering columns and seat frames. (Much of the wiring is common to other DC vehicles as well). The LX's are built on a new platform (well, it was new in 2004). Don't believe what you read in C&D and R&T. They did not do their research (surprised?) You should mention the 7.8 billion that Daimler stole from Chrysler as well. (Also, why is it in the Ford section though and not in Competition?)
  20. I still see the same orange Edge I've seen for weeks parked in the dealer's lot. Still the only one I've seen.
