  1. So does LineX use a asphalt based type coating like Ziebert? I'm not a big fan of those because I've heard that if there is a penetration of some type, water can get under the coating causing rusting itself. From what I've heard, Fluid Film is the way to go but unfortunately there is nobody around here that can apply that undercoating and I don't have the equipment to do it myself.
  2. I think you need to enable the TPMS in the BCM (Body Control Module) using something like Forscan before it will recognize you have it installed.
  3. You know, I was wondering that myself, why Ford was not using the built-in camera system of my truck to record on a USB thumb drive if so desired. The video feed goes into the display head along with the other Sync 4 electronics so it shouldn't be all that hard to reroute the video to thumb drive for recording. Instead, currently, I will still need to purchase a dash cam to grab video for accident proof when I have like 5 cameras on the damn truck The only thing I can think of that might prevent it is that the front facing camera in the Oval is not suitable for dash cam type footage. And I'll give you a thumbs up on the Wireless Trailer camera also, great minds think alike Actually Ford could go wireless on the TPMS and Trailer camera as an option if they wanted to. I currently have a Tireminder wireless TPMS system that works fine for my 5th wheel, along with a wireless Furrion camera system. The problem with the Furrion camera is that it just has a 4.3" display and requires another piece of hardware on the dash. It would be nice to have a wireless camera on the back that could be integrated into the large 12" sync 4 display.
  4. Well I did order the 5th Wheel Prep along with the spray-in bedliner in September and it was built in December. As to why some get built while others seem to wait forever, only Ford knows for sure, and I'm not even sure about that. Seems that everyone is at the mercy of a computer algorithm that determines what gets built.
  5. This really brings to light how badly we need to stop outsourcing our chip manufacturing to foreign interests and building our own chip plants. I know a few of them are in the works, with Intel and TMSC building two giant plants down in Arizona. Unfortunately, it will be years before they go online.
  6. Once you have your VIN, you can also do a search with FordPass to see if it finds your truck. If it does, then the electronics are alive.
  7. It seems to me that there are a lot of Sync 4 features you see on something like a Ford F-150 that you don't see on the Super Duty's. It's like they get all the new toys first, and eventually Ford gets around to implementing them on the SD's, maybe.
  8. I just ordered a 60 Gallon S&B tank but it's on backorder right now so might be a few weeks before it arrives. As you, this truck will mainly be used for towing around the 5th wheel. I had a 50 Gallon Titan on my Duramax and loved having the fuel security when you were out on the road. As you know, finding a RV friendly fuel station that has Diesel is not always easy so the fewer fill-ups, the better.
  9. Yes, we hear enough horror stories here on the BOF, so it's nice to post a positive dealer experience. Took the truck out on a road trip this weekend to get some miles on it before towing. Wife and I loved the ride, much better than our old 2008 Duramax. But they have had a lot of time to figure out how to quiet down the engine noise and make the trucks more comfortable. Truck ran smooth as silk except for the Sync 4 electronics. I had everything running great using Android Auto's Bluetooth connection and then when we went to dinner that evening, it lost it's brains. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to sync back up to Sync 4. After we got done with dinner, started up the truck and everything was fine again. So not sure what that was about. A couple more comments about the electronics, from my perspective. Ford's built-in Navigation system basically sucks. You are far better off using Google Maps or Waze with Android Auto. So I doubt very seriously that I'll renew once the 3 month trial runs out. Also, I wasn't all that impressed with the B&O sound system that comes with the Ford. The BOSE sound system I had in my Duramax was far superior. The B&O sound was missing something, hard to describe. Like presence. It just seemed very flat for what is suppose to be a premium sound system. And yes, I played with the equalizer settings but that didn't seem to help much.
  10. Unfortunately I didn't have any kind of X-Plan to work with so didn't have to test them on that factor. You would think that even though they don't make nearly as much profit, they would still accept the plan. Getting some profit is better than getting none at all.
  11. Not to dampen your spirits too much, but my truck spent about a month in the BNSF rail yards. A couple of weeks in Minot, ND, and then another couple of weeks in Havre, MT. It was excruciating knowing it was only a few hundred miles away.
  12. If I see a F250 running around in the same color with a matching topper, I'll be sure to give you a wave Still undecided if I want a cap. We go 5th wheeling in the summer and so you have to take it off and put it back on every year which is a pain. Plus keeping it stored somewhere.
  13. Instead of posting pictures here clogging up your file space, I'll send you a link for a topic I started that includes the pictures. Thanks again cyber!:
  14. I've been posting on the forum that we should shout out the good dealers as well as point out the bad. I'm happy to report that Wendle Ford here in Spokane is one of the good ones. They had no problems with the wife and I giving it a thorough PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) before we met up with the salesman again. So we spent about an hour going over everything and then took it out for a test drive on the freeway. Everything was nice and smooth for the drive. Back to the dealer where we started the sales finalization. We pointed out the difference in the sticker MSRP vs what was originally on the sales order and the salesman said "We will absolutely honor the price protection", so no hassle there. We got exactly what I asked for on the trade-in when I originally ordered it. So next it was off to financing where that can be a hassle sometimes when they try to sell you stuff you don't really need. I told him that I'll save us some time and you can take everything off the menu except the extended warranty, and he said "No problem". We worked out a pretty good deal on the extended warranty based on figures I had from Flood Ford, and it was a done deal. After reading some of the horror stories that some have had when going to the dealer to finalize the sale, it was great not needing to worry about that. There were only a couple of negative things I can report. First off, there was no Trailer Camera option package in the truck which we ordered and was on window sticker. So either it got lost somehow at the dealership, or it was not thrown in the truck at the Kentucky plant. All the other option packages were there, just not that one. My suspicion it was missed at the factory. But it's on order so should arrive soon. The only other thing was them not being as transparent with the VVR information as I would have liked. I see people posting pictures of their VVR's that they get all the time from their dealers, but mine refused to do that. I think the salesman and sales manager wanted to give me that info, but when they went to the GM, he said "No". So I was dependent on cyberdman all the time to give me complete weekly status updates. It wasn't too big of a deal, but when you are waiting months to get your $80,000 to $100,000 truck, I think the dealers need to be as transparent as possible so our anxiety doesn't go through the roof Anyway, here is the final result. As you can see from the final picture, it does have the 5th wheel prep and spray-in bedliner.
  15. Chill dude, don't take it so personally. I live in Eastern Washington so have been to many places in Montana including Glacier, Flathead, and most of the major cities in that state. Beautiful country, however, I think I'll stay where I'm at
  16. Will do, and concerning the wife, I agree. What better way for them to show their love than to let us go pick up a new truck. But for some odd reason, they don't see it that way!
  17. cyberdman informed me this morning that my truck arrived at the rail yard on the 9th and was delivered to the dealership on the 14th. But he also noted that was unusually fast for a transfer. Spokane is one of the major BNSF hubs for their automotive transfers and it's only 8 miles from the railyard to the dealer. Or perhaps the dealer interceded "Will you please get this guys truck delivered so he will stop pestering us!"
  18. G'morning again cyber. Well after about 5-1/2 months, my F-350 has finally arrived. I will be picking it up later today. I do have one final request for the status on when the truck arrived here in Spokane if that information is shown on the VVR. Some people here on the BO forum have been asking how long it took me from the time it arrived on the rail car to when it was delivered to the dealer. VIN: 1FT8W3BT3NED05948 As promised, I'll take some pictures and post them for you when I pick up the truck. Thanks so much for being with us to provide information when the dealers won't. Salute.
  19. Because they want to make the buyer walk away from the deal so they can sell it way above MSRP.
  20. So I got a call today from my salesman to inform me that the truck had been delivered at the dealership. They were going to get it ready for me to pick up this afternoon. But somehow going to pick up a new truck and spending a couple hours or more in the sales/finance office was not on the top of the wife's list for things to do on Valentines day So I'll be going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon instead. I was really surprised on the quick delivery to the dealership, but I don't know for sure when it arrived in town. All I know is that as of last Tuesday it was still listed as being in Havre, MT by cyberdman.
  21. I have Airlift bags on my Duramax 2500HD and found they really helped smooth the ride when hauling the 5th wheel. Not sure if I'll add them to my 350 when it arrives as I'll need to test it for a bit to see how the ride is.
  22. I did a fairly extensive search online and wasn't able to find one, so they must be closely guarded documents. I do know they have to take it out of transport mode, put the hubs on AUTO if 4WD, check and/or top off all the fluid levels, clean/detail. I'm sure there are other things but I can't see it would be much more than a day like ice stated. If your dealer is taking a week, they are using it for advertising like bshort noted
  23. I think your "chill" attitude would probably change a bit if you had to wait 6 to 8 months to get your truck. And I don't think it has always worked this way either. Before Covid, I'm sure there were retail orders direct to the factory, but I'm willing to bet they were built a lot faster than they are today. And if you look at any Ford lot and see the vastness of the empty space where they once had inventory, we all know the commodity and supply chain issues has had a dramatic effect on build times and stock. So I don't blame all of this on Ford. I do think Ford can do things a bit better, and I'll note those in my survey after I get my truck.
  24. I think it's been there since Friday as that's when the dealer gave me a call. Unfortunately my dealer refuses to give me a copy of the VVR so I know for sure, but I'll get an update from cyberdman on Tuesday where I can get more information on when it actually arrived.
