  1. Although the last two trucks I've own had integrated electric brake controllers, I had a Tekonsha brake controller at one time and it worked great. They seem to be almost an industry standard, plus reasonably priced.
  2. Well if Ford is worried about the liability of a collision caused by by their Trailer Navigation system, then there is no purpose in having it in the first place. I don't see any advantage of having it whatsoever over their normal Nav system.
  3. Apparently Ford made the special "Trailer Navigation" feature only available to "select" vehicles, including the F-150. Which makes zero sense whatsoever since it's the truck least likely to need such a feature when you don't see that many of them pulling a 13.5' 5th Wheel. That's been one of my biggest beefs about the Super Duty series is that it seems last on the list for technology upgrades. And that's not just Sync-4, but other features as well.
  4. Just to let you know, I had this TSB performed on my 22 F-350 last Thursday and it corrected the problem with the hard 2-1 downshift when in Tow/Haul mode. Now I have to let the tranny do another "learn" cycle but I think once it's done the 10-speed transmission will do much better overall. There is always the possibility that the TCM/PCM reprogramming may have corrected other bugs. Still love my truck. A few minor issues here and there, but nothing that would give me second thoughts. Here is the link for the TSB: https://dot.report/bulletins/10215617
  5. Well the TSB number that I'm aware of for this issue is 22-2267. Here is a short from ARod, a YouTube streamer who focuses on the 6.7L Diesel trucks: https://youtube.com/shorts/-mRzPA3pziM?feature=share When on vacation a couple of weeks ago pulling the 5th wheel, I definitely noticed the problem especially on a 2-1 downshift when we were in Tow/Haul mode. So I have the SD scheduled for the shop in August for a TCM/PCM reprogramming.
  6. I have a 60 gallon S&B fuel tank on my diesel F-350 and filled it up today at Costco at $5.79/gallon. Although it had about a third of a tank, it still cost me $254.00. Talk about feeling the pain at the pump. Sheesh. One thing is for sure, after our vacation pulling the 5th wheel to Yosemite, I'm parking the truck until fuel prices come back to some sense of normalcy.
  7. You also want to make sure your dealer ordered your truck under the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program). They should have asked for your drivers license and email address so they could enter the information into the system when your ordered your truck. If they didn't order under the COVP, then you may never get a order verification from Ford. I would call your dealer and find out what's going on. When I ordered my Truck back in September, it only took a little over a week to get my order verification via email.
  8. I'm a big believer in using dielectric grease, especially for high humidity conditions like we experience here in the Pacific Northwest. I use it for my 5th wheel 7-pin trailer connection and the shore power connections for the 5th itself. It prevents corrosion and a high resistance connection that can cause your trailer issues.
  9. I think you misunderstand. The S&B 60 gallon tank completely replaces the OEM 34 gallon tank, so it uses the same sensor unit and filter. The only thing you have to do once the tank is replaced is to use Forscan to let your truck know you now have a 60 gallon tank.
  10. Like ScottK1 mentioned, I used Forscan to change the tank size for a 60 gallon tank so the DTE would be accurate. Plus I did a few other changes so that I would not get the double honk on exit (with engine running), security idle, Bambi mode, and a few others. My next mod will probably be Airlift 5000 air bags. I had those on my Duramax and they really smoothed out the ride when pulling the 5th wheel.
  11. The one I bought was a Redtiger 4K dashcam from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098WVKF19?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It has a few nice features like GPS tagging (optional), speed tagging (optional), continuous loop mode, etc. It came with a rear camera and I will probably install that later.Just wanted to get the forward facing done first. Also, many of these cameras operate from 5V so you need an adapter kit: https://www.amazon.com/Hardwire-Miofive-Converts-Installation-Protection/dp/B09JNMRGXK/ You can use a different one, but if you want to use "Parking Mode", (recording while ACC is off), you will need something like the above. It also comes with all of the fuse adapters that you might need (Micro2 for my Ford truck).
  12. Got the S&B 60 gallon tank installed at it's pretty sweet to see a DTE of 956 miles I know that doesn't mean much when towing, but it will give me much greater fuel security when I'm out on the road with the 5th wheel. If I start looking for a station when I'm at 1/4 of a tank, I know I have some time before I need to worry about it. The only bad part is when you go to the gas station and it takes 3 runs of the credit card to fill up the tank ? Still need to install the Covercraft Leatherette Custom Seat Covers but it's been too cold around here lately. It should be easier to install the covers once it warms up a bit around here. The dashcam was installed today. Fairly decent wiring job tucked inside the headliner, down the A-pillar, and to the BCM fuse box for the ACC & B+ connections. Here is a short sample of the video: DashCam.mp4
  13. Well like you said, it shouldn't be a reason for a dealer to withhold that information as it's just a automated system. I could see it if they were live people you were bothering, but not a computer. But it's a moot point anyway at least for me because the truck has been here for a couple of months now, so all is well
  14. I haven't Kirbdog but thumbs-up for giving your dealer a pat on the back.
  15. I don't think you have to worry. Most likely the firmware update will already be installed.
  16. Unfortunately Wendle Motors here in Spokane can't get to my F-350 until the 25th. I was hoping it would be a bit sooner, especially considering it is a safety recall. But I guess it is what it is. I do have to pick up the 5th wheel from storage before that date so I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the brakes don't have any problem on a short trip.
  17. It does, but as far as I know, it's only for the Sync 3/4 system and not any of the actual truck modules. It would be nice if they would have incorporated such a feature so we didn't have to bother taking it in to a dealer.
  18. Yeah, I think you are in the clear marinerjoe. Probably by this time the software patch was already finalized and installed.
  19. You might check again tomorrow. When I first went in the site and checked, it showed mine in the clear. Later on that same day, I checked again and it showed the recall. And since mine was built on the 22nd of December and shows the recall, I would imagine yours would have it as well. Another place you can check is on the NHTSA website: https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle/vehicle-information And enter your VIN. If there are any recalls applicable to your truck, they will also show up there.
  20. I can understand that. Have you taken a look at the inverter yet to see if there are any spare connectors for a wiring harness that would normally go in the back of the center console?
  21. The inverter on my 22 SD is located behind the back seat on the passenger side. Now if you knew what you were doing with the electrical, you could tap into the 110V output and set up an outlet to plug in your cooler. Again, I stress "IF YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING!". Don't take any chances safety wise if you are not familiar with electrical wiring.
  22. This was posted up on the FTE forum, but thought I would bring it here also just to keep the Blue Oval guys up to date. There have been quite a few instances of the trailer brakes intermittently failing for no apparent reason. Looks like there will now be an official recall for this problem. As far as I know, this only affects the 22 model year, but it would be worth checking on the Ford's Customer Service site for your VIN: https://www.ford.com/support/recalls-details/YourVinNumber/ Of course, substitute your actual VIN number in the area above between the /'s. This was just posted by Ford to the NHTSA on the 25th, so not sure when we will get the official notices in the mail. The sooner, the better. I don't really want to pull my 5th wheel down the road this summer with the possibility of losing the trailer brakes just when I needed them.
  23. I don't think there is one that can replace the OEM tank like with a diesel. Aftermarket Gassers would require a considerable amount of collision testing and government red tape to get approved.
  24. Exactly, if Titan and S & B can give you 55 or 60 gallons on a Crew Cab short bed, then Ford should be able to do the same.
  25. The OP posted a good question. I've had my F-350 a little over a month now and I can see some differences between what I had before (2008 Duramax 2500HD), and what I would like to have in my F-350. One thing is steering response. My Duramax had a much better feel for the road and steering response than my current F-350. I didn't get the Adaptive steering because it was one of those taboo options even when I ordered the truck back in September. But my question is, why does Ford make this an option? It should be standard in every Ford. Next is BLIS (Blind Spot Information System). I wish it would give an audible alert as well as flashing the yellow mirror icon. Although I try to make sure I look over my shoulder before changing lanes, it's still hard to see out the side sometimes and a audible alert would be nice. I have the customer installed camera option for the trailer that I will need to install once I get the trailer out of storage. It would have made it MUCH easier if they would have made that camera wireless instead of the necessity of running a long cable from the truck bed all the way to the back of the trailer. A wireless camera in the back, a receiver to plug into the Sync 4 camera/display system, and there you go. No cables to run and a much neater and easier installation. My F-350 comes with 5 freaking cameras. One in the front, two on the side mirrors, one overlooking the bed, and another in the tailgate but they didn't think of a "Dash Cam" feature to record video as you are going down the road? Don't get me wrong, I love my truck, but there are some things that are "Why didn't Ford Do This?" thoughts. I'm sure I will have more to add to the list later. EDIT: Next thing to add. Lane Keeping Assist on the Ford SD is a joke, it really is. I mean really, vibrate the steering wheel as if you were hitting the rumble strips? Lane keeping assist is like what my wife's Subaru Forester has, where it actually nudges you back in the center if you get too far left or right. Not a lame wheel vibrator. So Ford could definitely improve that system quite a bit. And I'm sorry, but the so called "B&O Premium Sound" on my F-350 really sucks. The BOSE Premium sound I had on my 2008 Duramax was at least 3 times better. So Ford definitely needs to dump B&O and get someone who knows how to do car audio. One of the first things I plan on adding after recovering from adding some of the other accessories is buying a set of JL Audio C1-690 speakers from Crutchfield to replace the main front speakers, and the C1-650x for the back. From what I've read on other forums, that will make a big improvement in the sound quality without needing to replace the amplifier.
