  1. I don't think our union would tell us. I mean we get some lame letter from the chairman that barely even recognizes whats going on here. This is pretty major to not be communicating this to us. We should know exactly what the intentions with where they plan on putting all of these people. Call any or all of the union reps' numbers listed in our union calander and you might be lucky enough to get someone.
  2. So if and when we ever pick up are we to think they will re-open these jobs that they are taking away?? Some jobs are already overloaded. How long have we watched them allow all these people to come into the plant-and now we have too many people-even with the few people who have left. Seems to be the case at most plants--over staff, layoff. When's the next buyout?? (if ever)
  3. This is crazy. The company has been fighting to get rid of job banks for so long and now they see a chance to use this crisis to do it! VOTING NO!
  4. Nah. Just never saw this language for myself. How's it going there? They keep bringing in the high senority here. Getting some TLOs' too.
  5. Anyone know where the language is in the new contract regarding the $30-40,000 transfer money for east to west side and west to east side plants?
  6. Any ideas as to where in our new language it states that there is this $30,000-$40,000 transfer allowance for those who transfer from a west(east) side plant to an east(west) side plant?? I heard they changed the language regarding plant transfers. Thanks!
  7. You forgot the one where they eliminated our weekly meetings in order to make more cars WITHOUT having to pay out overtime! That's our union here at AAI. Wonder what they got in return????
  8. In my opinion Vince should have been dealt with years ago. I've never had a Benefits Rep/Union Rep cus me out and scream at me over the phone for asking a simple question like Vince did. I then said how about I come to your office and we can discuss this face to face and he declined. Maybe he was just having a bad day!!
  9. Anyone know when, if ever, we will receive our new national contract books?
  10. I read it-thanks. It doesn't make sense to me. I relocated and actually bought a house but because I fell 2 miles short of the 50 mile radius I get zip--but now under this "new contract" people are getting paid that actually live closer?? I know people from Wixom who relocated since the new contract and they got nothing. This sounds wrong.
  11. Curious about something. I heard that the Utica transfers to AAI were given $30,000 to come. Any validity to this?
  12. I'm looking for the specific down weeks for AAI's shut down. I've tried calling every # in the union office-no luck. Thanks
  13. Can anyone confirm the weeks off for shutdown?
  14. Do you think this will be the new standard for layoff? Choose between layoff or take a buyout? Also, you're saying we will have the option of a buyout if we are in gen and choose not to be placed? Thanks for the info.
  15. Will buyouts be avaialable throughout the life of this agreement or just this one time coming up? Thanks
  16. "IF" this holiday is agreeed upon, then yes they would have to retro us the pay. Same with any holiday we were to miss due to negotiations ongoing through that particular holiday. BUT, I agree with the census, that this holiday will most likely not be negotiated in this set of contracts.
  17. From the way it was explained to me, we will be retroed the holiday if the contract isn't negotiated by then, and pending these days are going to be in our upcoming contract.
  18. Our management at AAI just told us as of right now, we will be working November 6 and 12th, unless the new contract is agreed upon and it includes these holidays. We told them we are currently under the exsisting contract-anyone else been told this?? :reading:
  19. Just curious who out there is in favor of this new contract and who is not-and why. Personaly, until the VEBA is completely explained I am not in favor. Will the $ be there for us who still have to work 15 to 20 years?? I assume there will be a complete description by the time we vote.?? Also, the job banks have been disrupted, but to what extent? Ford has already given concessions on non related jobs to manufacturing. We already have outsiders working those jobs. Not to mention, I was a little concerned to find out it was our unions idea to even suggest a VEBA. But I also understand they(the UAW) will now be a multi billion dollar company who will also have say in share related matters as well as a major share holder. So this seems, possibly, a good position for ourhigh ranking union officials. I don't know-just some thoughts.
  20. Every local contract I've been a part of has been ratified prior to the National Agreement.
  21. My local agreement(AAI) has been ratified for weeks now. Thats why I was wondering about other plants.
  22. Just curious what plants have yet to ratify a local agreement--and why? :stats:
  23. : :reading: Well, I hope we all consider the Veba a little more than this post is suggesting. It's not so simple as to just except it because someone thinks we will get stuck with it anyway. Look at Catipillar.(the company) The had a Veba till it ran out in 2004. Also, how can we feel secure knowing that our retirement depends on whether or not our UAW invests our future funds in the proper funds to make the money needed. How about the focus being put on the unfair trade agreements, tariffs, and currency manipulation with our "foreign competition."
  24. :stats: It's interesting how the newspaper points out the hourly pay a Toyota emp. receives. It's equivilant to the uaw members working for the "big 3". But somehow we are always accused of being over paid and what not. Everyone wants to see us scale down to be equal to our competition-but how can we ever be equal to them? The playing field is unlevel. Between tariffs, currency manipulation, and the U.S. being limited as to what we are allowed to import into the competitions "home turff", how can we ever be on equal terms. So lets just cut our hourly emps' healthcare, benefits and wages-yeah that will fix it. In the meantime, our union has allowed concessions to divide each plant against one another-so its a competition for who gets work and to what extent. Those emps' at Toyota better realize their jobs are not secure either, as they are now seeing. Oh well, guess I'll just get back on my corporate jet and meet Mark Fields in Florida!!! :shades:
