daddydave1970
I was laid off in February of 2004, they offered us the opportunity to transfer to Chicago or Lorain, I went to Lorain. When I got there (without my family) everyone at Lorain greeted us with open arms. People opened up their homes to us, gave us furniture, and basically treated us with nothing but love. IF some of you get the opportunity to come here, I will personally make sure you have at least one friend in Kansas City. That is a promise, not the type of promise F and F (Ford and Fields) would make, but a solemn promise. One more thing, there are alot of other people at KCAP who will welcome you with open arms also. daddydave1970
I can't speak for all of those people, all I can control is me. I work on the Customer Acceptance Line on the Truck side. I work right next to Paint repair people. Containment Operator is what I am doing, you are right in one aspect, alot of people at our plant are not friendly, but there are some who are. I know a few people from Jersey, I get along with them all. Anyhow, come see me if you get a chance.

Peeps
I recently transferred to KCAP, from OHAP, and was met with mostly indifference. Most of us were ignored, but occasionally yelled at to 'go home'! There were a few times, walking in the aisleways to go to the restroom, I was hit with bolts or other stock items. I would feel physically ill just thinking about going into work. One of the edison transferrees told me that they've been here at KCAP for almost 4 years and are still treated like an outsider...It was so hard leaving my family and friends, only to be treated like this. Things are better now and I have made some friends. I no longer feel sick thinking about work. And, I have personally met DaveKC and he's one of the nicest people I've ever met. I think most of the people at KCAP could take lessons from Dave! With the way things are going, it shouldn't be hard to have some empathy for our fellow union brothers and sisters from other plants. It could very easily be one of us walking into a strange plant...and hopefully, you'll be treated better than we were. I always try to treat others the way I'd like to be treated, so if you get transferred to KCAP, that's 2 people that will welcome you! daddydave1970
PEEPS, how's it going? Thanks for the compliment, I'll pay you later(lol). Alot of the Jersey people were treated badly, as well as the Ohio folks, all I can say is those rude asses are the exception and not the rule. I was going to get online last night, but my computer was acting funny.

daddydave1970
I guess I will have to stop by an atm. Hey Peeps, just got off the phone with a friend of mine who was at Lorain. Seems like the majority of the GEN people are going to work monday. He said the Ohio Assembly was doing an inverse layoff now. I guess that's good news. Then again, inverse or not, a layoff is bad. Yeah, a layoff is bad but at least it's voluntary. I'm glad to hear that everyone who wants to work, will have that opportunity. OHAP and it's workforce will always have a special spot in my heart... Peeps This is what I've heard people at my plant say about Kansas City and St. Louis. They were laid off in the 80's and transfered. Ford should close KC and bring all the work to Michigan. We treat all people good here. Let them inbred Ozark rednecks work for Walmart. Same with Atlanta. The Civil War's been over for 140 years and they're still fighting it. Many of the Atlanta employees resigned from the UAW this week. Blaming the Union is childish. I hope the next plant built is not in a right to work state.
xrolling mill
A few people from my plant told me some horror stories when they transferred down to Atlanta back in the eighties from Mighigan. Hell, even the locals treated them badly when they went to the bank to cash their checks. They were happy as hell to get back to their home plant. what-next
HELL WHAT UNION AT KCAP? YOU NEVER SEE THEM. OR YUO NEVER CAN GET A HOLD OF THEM. WELL THERE MAY BE 1 OR 2 THAT YOU SEE ON THE FLOOR. THEY EVEN DON'T LIKE TRANSFERS. SO WHAT IS A GUY TO DO? NIGHT SHIFT OUT AT THIS PLANT IS HORRIABLE. YOUNGSTERS TO SAY THE LEAST. INMATURE BRATS AND DO NOT NO WHAT IT IS TO WORK TOGETHER. THEY ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES AND THAT IS IT. WHEN THE OHIO PEOPLE GOT HERE THEY WERE TREATED LIKE CRAP NOT ALONE BY THEIR PEERS BUT MANAGEAGEMENT HAD IT IN FOR THEM ALSO. KINDA MAKES YOU WANT TO MOVE HERE AND FEEL ALL THE WARM LOVING WELCOMES DON'T IT.....
Higgins
A few people from my plant told me some horror stories when they transferred down to Atlanta back in the eighties from Mighigan. Hell, even the locals treated them badly when they went to the bank to cash their checks. They were happy as hell to get back to their home plant. When Edison's second shift was called back to work in the late 80's, quite a few people "came home" from other plants. During a large meeting, there were a lot of questions about seniority, benefits, etc. One guy had a particularly confusing Ford history of being bounced from plant to plant and back again, with layoffs in between. The guy from Personel was trying to keep track of his question and had to interupt to ask: "When did you leave Atlanta?" "The day I got laid off!" Hey Dave!!! How Ya Doing? Well yes you had a warm welcoming in Ohio. Mom even put you up for awhile. Had a Pig roast and all.. Well we made the move her and it totally SUCKS!!!!! Most of the people a KCAP do Not have the first clue about being in a union. Or getting along with each other. My second night Yes Second Night ( went Nights with 14 years) I had a girl spit in my face!!! then grab my arm... Because people from Ohio came to KC. Then tried to get a hold of the union to be moved. Another joke... I have notes after notes on what they have not done or returned my calls. None of us ohio people have been greeted with open arms.. or nicely from hourly to management. Everyone has it out for ya. My old man has a few good guys that work around him. Where I was sucked! The women were unreal!! And your union reps.. never seen mine on the floor. could not even tell who he is or was. Most of the people I have talked to that came from Ohio to here HATE it! At least in Ohio you were treated with resecpt. spitting in faces never happened and putting your hands on someone never was heard of. Not alone your second day at a new plant. We love the state though. But the ford plant is one nasty place to work.... I would take a lay off before ever coming to this dump..... changes need to be made. I don't no if it is because it is all young kids working in there but damn. Night shift was BAd. the jobs are overloaded. Not one person fights them adding work. Management works. No one writes them up!! ergo reps? do you have them? I have talked to people in there from different plants like edison, jersey they are treated the same way. it is getting better now but some still hate it. and you should not have to go to work feeling sick and worring about who is going to do what to you. This Place is out of this world. hey come see us.. you owe the kids a steak dinner....lol talk to you soon
daddydave1970
The pig roast was out of this world, I really enjoyed my time there. As for the people who are acting like asses, no class, no home training, and no clue on how to treat people. Wouldn't surprise me to see some of those people in dirty tank tops drinking cheap beer and getting arrested on COPS!!!! I saw your husband and Doogie the other day. We would love to have you guys out to the house when the weather breaks for a barbeque.

I hope the next plant built is not in a right to work state. Easy with the blanket statements if you are not in Atlanta. I ride with a man from Sterling Heights thats on his 6th plant.I have a several friends from Wixom(the ones that work).I have a friend from Sharronville that went to Batavia. Most of us "backward ass contry folks" treat people with respect. Its the smat ass, know it all, aint gonna hit a lick becuase my sorry ass knows how to circumvent the system people that we dislike. But Ill say this. This Georgia Boy is wise enough to see this ride is almost over I doubt very seriously i'd relocate if I had the chance.I guess we in the south take as much pride our families and heritage as we do the things that money can buy. Most of the people here feel the same way.Im not chasing a company around that has to put fires out everywhere and all the time.It makes no sense what so ever. Why would I leave my home when I can find work here? And if we are so backward why in the hell are so many Yankees here?So are these "people" you hear, are they riding whatever train they can becuase the union allows it?And becuase it is a right to work state my options are not as limited as yours would be if your plant was one of the remaining ones not yet announced. So for your greedy little sake you better hope your plant is safe.P.S. Its not inbreeding, she was his stepsister. B)
