NickCarbon
I've got an 07 expedition. This past weekend I was driving on a 4 hour driving trip. My front air conditioner quit working, and I tested the rear and it was fine. The front wasnt blowing an air and the blower was not working, eventhough I lowered the temp from 72 degrees down to 60 to get it to come on. It didnt work. I pulled over turned the truck off for about 10 minutes and now it works fine. Any thoughts of why it stopped and how would I got about approaching the dealership on this, especially since it hasnt done it since? Davew
Cause - Probably a computer brain fart. Dealer Action - "Couldn't duplicate customer complaint." If it were me, I'd take it in anyway. I know engine problems will set a code which can be read, but I'm not sure to what degree accessory problems would set a code on Ford products. On the highway for a while and the fan just quit. Compressor still worked, air was blowing in from normal highway driving but NO control over the front fan. Cycling HVAC on/off had NO effect on it. Rear system was fine. When I got off the highway, I restarted the engine and it returned to normal. Few days later... Driving on highway for a while and the fan turns itself to FULL HIGH! NO control over it with temp setting or even turning HVAC system on/off. So I got off the highway, restarted the engine and all was fine again. Hasn't happened again for a few days... Going to the dealer today with other minor warranty issues too... I'm sure it won't act up for them. It will be fun to see what they say. JeffARB
let me know what the dealership tells you. Mine hasnt done it since that first time. Good news, bad news... The good news is that Ford is aware of a problem, bad news, no fix yet. There is a SSM on it. SSM #19787 - "2007 EXPEDITION/NAVIGATORS - ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (EATC) HEAD ERRATIC OR INOPERATIVE DUE TO CELL PHONE CHARGING. - Some 2007 Expediton and Navigator vehicles may exhibit an erratic or inoperative EATC control head and/or intermittently inoperative blower motor. If the condition cannot be duplicated, ask the customer if they plug a cell phone charger into the IP power point. If so, try to duplicate the concern engine running, EATC on and cell phone charger plugged in for at least 1/2 hour. If concern is duplicated, please document the type of phone used. Please submit a global concern report through the PTS website. Advise customer to use the auxiliary power point in the rear of the center console or try a new charger. Monitor OASIS for updates." Buzzforbrains
Mine did the same thing. Turned the car off, then on after 15min, has worked since. I don't buy the cell phone connection. I have never used any of the 12v sources.
sundown28138
Hey guys. Long time Ford guy, but new to the site (Mustangs mainly). We're taking delivery of an 07 EB today (woohoo!), but they gave us an 07 XLT to drive while we waited for our to be delivered from another dealership. Anyways, to make a long story short, the A/C in the "loaned" Expy stopped working for 3 seconds on us ysterday - just long enough for my wife and I to stop and scratch our heads - but it just started working again. No cell phones were plugged in at the time. We're hoping our "new new" '07 Expy (copper, FTW!) doesn't have this same problem - we're getting ready to drive it coast to coast . My 2008 4x4 Limited is 3 weeks old and has 2k miles on it, today for the first time the A/C blower stopped blowing but for only a few seconds, the rear unit was on at the time and also reset. I did have a cell phone charger into the IP power point but it was not in use and has been there for the 3 weeks and 2k miles.
Buzzforbrains
The cell phone excuse is as about as poor as I have seen. They need to fix this problem.
navigator07
I have 07 Navigator that had same problem after only 300 miles. Fan went to low speed on its own and would not change. After engine restart it returned to normal. Then on 2000 mile trip, it went to high speed on its own, and again, after engine restart, returned to normal. Dealership replaced the entire air conditioner control module. Have not gotten truck back from dealer yet, because they cant resolve my airbag light problem (light wont go off and they dont know why, but wont let me drive it home for liability reasons). So now I am driving a tan old-fart town car.

navigator07
Well I got my Navigator back from dealer. As i mentioned previously, they had to change out the air conditioner control module in the dash. And wouldnt you know, they also chipped the real wood dash insert - what a present I had to discover. Now they have to replace all the wood (as I understand it, the wood is book matched, so a piece of it cannot be replaced. It all has to be replaced.) So far, service manager said no problem and is ordering the wood. As far as the airbag light, ford engineers told the dealer to replace the airbag control module, which they did, and that fixed the problem. No more airbag light on. I sure hope this is the end of the "working out the bugs" for my new navi with only 3,000 miles on it. I have another 2000 mile trip coming up, so we'll see. All the best. Buzzforbrains
My A/C shut off for the third time in 5,200 miles this weekend. I was able to get a small amount of airflow using the manual controls with the fan setting on max. I turned the car off then on and it worked. Must be a glitch in the AC control comp. ExpeditionNavigator
Let us know if it happens again. If the blower is actually stopping, refer to the previous posts. If the blower is still working but no air is coming out, the evaporator core could be frozen over. Turning the vehicle off lets the ice thaw so air flow returns. It only happens after long drives at a narrow range of outside temperature and humidity.

I turned it off and on within 2 seconds and continued to drive for an hour with no problems. The air coming out the second time was extremly minimal. Like 1/8th of the lowest fan setting. Could have been from fresh air coming through the vents. Not sure.
MarcM
I have an 07 Expedition EB and the front air does not work infrequently, but it only happens when the temp is over 100F (I live in Phx). This issue started last September and stopped when the temp lowered and started again this week. Nothing by way of phone chargers has changed over the past 9 months (when it was happening in September, then didn't happen all winter, and now happening again). Clutch engages, rear air works, just front stops blowing...any ideas or solutions? Edited June 3, 2015 by MarcM
