  1. Don't wast your money on that piece of crap. I tried it when i got my 07. It made the engine so loud that you couldnt even hear the radio inside, much less talk on the cell phone or to a passenger. I even sent mine back after a month of using it to K&N and told them it was a piece, they explained that you will get more growl.....I have had a full cai on all my vehicles i have owned and none of them had this type of growl. Anytime you have your foot on the accelerator this series intake puts off a loud almost vibration sound. I checked all connections and it they were sound. Personally i think it is just a poor design for the expedition. I havent seen any other options though for our truck. I wish volant or someone else other than K&N would create a closed intake with a cone filter, as they have worked well for me in the past. I am currently using a flat K&N replacement filter instead, basically just so I dont have to throw away 25 bucks every other oil change.
  2. i have this leveling kit on my 07, works good, have had it for 1.5 years installed without any issues.
  3. I disagree, there is a lack of power in the new redesign. I have an 07 Expedition and it lacks throttle response and has almost no pick up and go compared to my dads 06 expedition. The engine may have more hp and torque, but the transmission doesnt allow you to get the extra power to the road.
  4. Any chance you have a tuner/programmer such as the X3 that will work on the 07+ expedition? I am looking for something to improve the throttle response and tranmission shifting.
  5. my recommendation, coming from an 07 expedition owner, is drive the thing in stop and go traffic. Don't worry too much about the highway driving, the transmission really acts up after it gets warmed up and going in stop and go. Make sure you drive it for an extended period of time before you agree to buy it. Just a warning, I had to take mine in 6 times and threaten lemon law to get it fixed correctly. I would be afraid of an 07 that only has 14.5K miles on it. That first year is when you take the biggest hit of depreciation, usually the only time someone will sell it after a year is if they are either having trouble with something or just simply do not like the vehicle. Most people love the comforts of the truck but I for one hate the transmission. Personally I find the truck has very poor throttle, you really have to get on it for it to go. Granted other than the spotty transmission and poor throttle response, I like the vehicle. A few other little things....like the quality of leather used (not too good, already showing wear) and a few other little things. Fortunately I am testing out a programmer that solves the lag in throttle repsponse and will eventually be opened up change the transmission programming. This will solve the two major problems I have with the truck. I am tired of waiting for Ford to keep releasing tsb's that they hope will fix the issues.
  6. consider getting a programmer to change the crappy stock tunes.
  7. I was having the same issues with the transmission acting up. I gave the dealer 6 chances to fix it, all with no luck. Sent ford a letter giving them 30 days by lemon law standards to fix it. They sent some big wig down from michigan to look at it and fix it. So far so good, I have gone about 5000 miles since the fix without any major problems. Occasionally it fumbles gears, but I think all 6 speeds do that, I like everything about the truck with the exception of the transmission. I think ford could have done better. Hopefully the transmission holds up. At least there is no more jerking into gears and surging when coming to a stop. I will say this though, I will not buy another Ford after all the crap I had to go through to get it fixed correctly. I was probably out a vehicle for a whole month. The funny thing about the whole thing is I told the dealership exactly what it was doing 6 times, and 4 of the six they acted like there wasnt a problem, even after I forced them to do a conference call with fords customer service and even fords customer service claimed it was normal. I picked the truck up from the dealership on a Thursday and sure enough by Saturday I was almost stranded. It took pulling a trailer and endangering my life while the transmission quit shifting on the highway going up hill. I was driving around 60 to 65 miles per hour and all of a sudden the transmission slowed me down to 20 mph on the freeway going up hill, I could floor the accelerator and nothing would happen. Fortunately I was only 5 miles from my house when it happened and not 150. Pulled up to the driveway, turned truck off, restarted it thinking this might reset the computer or something and I attempted to back the trailer into the driveway. I was getting zero power to the wheels, I couldnt even back the trailer into my driveway. I had to get the rental trailer back to Uhaul, and guess what I couldnt. They ended up charging me because I was late on drop off. Then I had to get my father to come to my house in his 05 expedition to switch out the trailer and take me to the uhaul shop. Huge ordeal, plus I had to borrow his truck to leave town for a few days. All this happened on a Saturday.
  8. your right only 4wd gets tow hooks.
  9. i dont know anything about the HD Bilsteins but the regular bilsteins are probably one of the best shocks out there.
  10. thats bullshit, its not an internal report, they are just being assholes, try another dealership.
  11. I wasnt going to bring it up, but some of what this thread is right on and part of it is not. Rims do make a difference in the appearance of the truck or car. Would I put 20's or larger on my truck or car, no I wouldnt but that is neither here nor there. My issue with ford wheels is the fact that fords chrome 20's arent really chrome at all but the call them. The are cheap plastic chrome over a steel wheel, how cheap can Ford get? None of Fords competition is trying to pull this over on there customers, not chevy, gmc, toyota, nissan, etc. The expedition, navigator, ford edge and probably alot more than I am aware of come with these cheap ass 20's that ford charges more for in the price of the vehicle. How would you feel if you bought a 50-60K dollar navigator and it comes to be told that your wheels are basically plastic hub caps. Between ford cutting corners and fords poor customer service ( i can back this up), my expedition was in for warranty repair for the 6 speed transmission 7 times before ford could fix it, 3 of the times they claimed they could not replicate eventhough it was shifting poorly. A week after I got it back and they could not replicate the problem the transmission wouldnt shift when pulling a trailer on the freeway fortunately i was only about 5 miles from my house. Took the truck in had a lawyer send ford a letter for lemon law, and now they claim they have fixed it again. We will see, hopefully it doesnt strand me. It really pisses me off they after 7 fixes the 800 technical support line and mechanic could not fix what was actually wrong with the truck. I told them exactly what it was doing continuously and they did not listen. I have always owned ford vehicles and probably would have continued owning fords if they would have fixed my truck properly without all the hastle. I probably was without a truck for 30 days total, paying a monthly note and having to rent a fucking rentacar while my new truck was in the shop getting fixed. I have told every single one of my friends about all the issues and problems with the truck and with fords customer service, of which a few told me I shouldnt have bought a ford in the first place. This expedition is the last ford I will own, I dont like getting screwed, especially when I am buying a 40K dollar vehicle. I may stay american, but my wife and I will never be another ford owner.
  12. here you go, steelcraft stainless steel grille guard on my lemon of a 07 expedition
  13. I am glad to hear it worked out for you, I am in the process right now, mine has been in the shop way too many times. I finally got fed up when I was pulling a trailer for 100 miles and my transmission basically stopped shifting and would rev out at 2000 rpms. I could floor it and got no response on the freeway, when it happened I was going about 70 mph and by the time I got over the next overpass I was going 35 and could not speed up any at all. It was not a good situation to be in, stuck on the freeway going 30 to 35 miles an hour because you damn near brand new expedition's transmission crapped out on you. The funny part of it is that i took it to the dealership the week before because it was shifting funny and they claimed they could not duplicate the problem. Unfortunately this happened on a saturday and the dealership was closed, but the service rep got an ear full on his voicemail, and come Monday morning so did the service manager.
  14. I used to be like you and EL lover loving ford vehicles, but after having two lemon of a trucks from Ford I will never let my wife drive one. I am pretty sure with both of us working we couldnt afford to have another ford in the driveway. Between having to take my expedition to the shop and being with out a vehicle because ford can't get there fixes together for the 6 speeed transmission (multiple trys and have just given up, nothing seems to work), and then I get a letter for two recalls to drop it off and be without the vehicle again...jeez. Does ford not realize people buy new trucks to get rid of old ones that they think they may start having problems with. The last two fords I have owned have been in the shop more times than I can count. After the explorer i figured I just had a bad one from the bunch, then after this expedition I am thinking there are more bad ones than ford wants to admit. Look at the transmission forum for the expedition, almost 140 replies, outrageous. My wife and I are having a baby pretty soon and it is time for her to upsize from a saab to a midsize SUV, I am 100% sure it will not be a ford, I will probably be jumping ship over to Mercedes (there GL SUV is pretty awesome, plus offers a diesel engine or there ML with the diesel is probably what we will be getting) or the Buick Enclave which is really nice as well. We went to the car show recently and looked at all the vehicles. The finish on Ford and Lincoln vehicles didnt seem to match up against the others. For instance.....the Lincoln MKZ looks all nice and such, rear seats fold down at the touch of a button, but they don't fold back up electronically, what bright engineer designed this. It is supposed to be a luxury crossover and it seems to fall short in many areas. Another instance, you pay like $2000 for plastic chrome 20" wheels. They are basically a cheap steel rim with plastic chrome stuck on top, Why should ford and lincoln do this? Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, GM, Chevy, and even toyota doesnt try to cut corners on the wheels, you actually are getting what you paid for. Ford needs to stop cutting corners to make a few bucks on people especially when those people used to be repeat Ford customers.
  15. Well maybe when you buy a 40K dollar truck and have problems from the the get go with the transmission and the dealership and ford do not have a solution other than to bring it back once a month for a new program and be without your new high dollar truck, then you will know how some of us feel, until then stfu. I have been a ford enthusiast all my life, shall I list all the ford vehicles, 1980 something F150 (ranch truck), 1990 F 350 dually (ranch truck), 1996 F250 (ranch truck), 1991 ford explorer (daily driver), 1996 ford explorer (daily driver), 2004 F250 FX4 (ranch truck), 2005 Ford Explorer (daily driver till I got sick of taking the lemon in the get fixed), 2007 Expedition (daily driver and am getting very fed up with this transmission issue that seems unfixable). After these last two, the explorer and this expedition I can say next go round I will definately be looking at all the competition before I make a purchase. Whether it be Chevy, GMC, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Lexus, or whomever else. I used to not even look at the other brands, BUT FORD has now steered me in the other direction. I may pay a little more someplace else, but time is money, and since I have owned these last two trucks I have been losing tons of it. My wife wants a larger SUV and she has told me it will not be a ford, we can't have two daily drivers that potentially could be in the shop way too often. So basically near term Ford has lost another sale of of 40K dollar SUV and we are not the only ones jumping ship. This week for the first time Toyota passed ford as the number 2 auto manufacturer for 2007: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8...;show_article=1 So maybe instead of bad mouthing people on here that are reporting the problems they are having with there brand new ford trucks, you ought to get your ass back to the assembly line and start building a higher quality product that will compete from the reliability standpoint.
  16. there's your problem furious, this forum is not for arguments, its for people coming together to possibly solve there problems. You come on here to stir things up, thats basically the only input you put into the mix.
  17. first off Furious, you have claimed to be a Ford employee, does Ford know how you are treating there customers and/or future clients?? Don't claim to be an employee and then talk shit about someone because they are having problems with there new Ford Truck. Sure the guy needs to take his truck to a dealership to get it fixed and documented as a problem, but my results with fixing my transmission have been pretty piss poor. Ford is aware my truck has a problem...yet they seem unwilling to find the root of it. I have seen posts from you Furious before and you make all these claims and then all of a sudden quit posting all together for a while, when people start questioning your identity. If you were truly and good FORD employee you wouldn't be talking shit about a current client and possible future client. Buying a new car isnt a small purchase. You may have just caused ford to lose another future sale!!! Oh ya by the way LEMON LAW IS DIFFERENT IT ALMOST EVERY STATE and is a huge pain in the ass. I for one believe the guy. I have an 07 FOrd expedition and have had transmission problems since day three of owing the truck. The sticker on my truck was right over 40K. My truck has been to the dealership 5 times for the exact same thing, and FORD continues to do tsb updates on the programming, I have asked for a new transmission and instead they think the programming will solve the current problem (which it hasn't this last time or the previous 4 times). The dealership is trying there best to fix it, but ford is unwilling to replace the whole transmission. why? Everytime I take my truck in, I am out a vehicle for the day or two it takes them to attempt to fix it. I am in outside sales...so I need a reliable vehicle to get me from point A to point B. After all these tranny problems I have had, how long do you think my transmission will last....do you actually think it will make it to 100K? I doubt it. Should I spend another $1400 purchasing the extended warranty....so I don't get screwed another time. I don't have the answer yet. I do know that if this last tsb update did not fix the shifitng issues I am having........Ford will either be replacing the full transmission or be buying my $40K truck back from me, whether I have to get a lawyer or not.
  18. My 07 expedition eddie bauer came with the factory subwoofer in the back. Somehow the damn thing got blown listening to Christmas Music, I guess all the base in silent night overpowered it, still trying to figure out what happened. Anyone know what size and ohm rating I need to just swap it out. Thanks
  19. if you are going to get a programmer i would suggest the SCT xcalibur 3 or the livewire, with customized tunes. That will be the only way to improve your particular vehicle. The Dont waste your money on the jet or hypertech.
  20. actually i think ford is already using chinese parts. I think some of the valve body's in the 6 speed transmission are from china, someone click in if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure thats what one of the service departments at a dealership told me.
  21. My wife and I drive basically the same way, so that would not be an issue even if we did swap vehicles. The last time she drove my truck was probably a month and half ago. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about the expedition, driveability, interior, exterior styling, etc., everything but the transmission and the hassle it is to take it in for service. I also agree the Explorer should have been lemon lawed, but it did not qualify by the time the solenoid was replaced. I am not about to go hire some lawyers and take ford to court over one or two crappily built vehicles. Fortunately I was able to get a decent trade in on the explorer. The dealership I am dealing with now, has seen numerous expeditions in for the same problem. They are leaps and bounds better than the dealership I purchased the truck at, they were rude, not willing to try and find the root of the problem. If I decide on a ford next go around I will probably buy it from the dealership that is providing better service.
  22. no I drive the expedition all the time, it doesnt fit in her parking garage at work, plus even if we traded vehicles our driving styles are not very different.
