RichardJensen
"Chrysler gained absolutely NOTHING from Mercedes" How do you coordinate that assertion with positive expectations for a second coming of Wolfgang Bernhard? Also, what's your basis for asserting that things will be better for Chrysler under a second Bernhard tenure? I agree with your first statement: Chrysler gained nothing from Mercedes. Chrysler wouldn't be in THIS position if Zetsche & Bernhard had done a thorough job restructuring Chrysler 5-6 years ago. 630land
"At least its American again" Yeah, but how about if it makes sellable product now? Not fill up empty lots and brag about Hemis, when gas is sky high. Lets see what gets done before having orgasms.
96 Pony
"At least its American again" Yeah, but how about if it makes sellable product now? Not fill up empty lots and brag about Hemis, when gas is sky high. There is still a market for the Hemis. Granted, it is not what it was a few years thanks to the high gas prices, but the market is still there. If it wasn't then the Hurricane/Boss project would have been cancelled. But in the interim. It really surprises me how so many people wish Chrysler to fail on its own. Chrysler gained absolutely NOTHING from Mercedes. They went into this stronger...but left weaker. Agreed. Daimler essentially used Chrysler to prop up Mercedes until it became profitable again. Then when they had a hit with the 300/Magnum/Chargers they got greedy and flooded the market and totally devalued their names when the majority of them ended up in fleets. It's Daimlers mismanagement that is the cause of Chryslers downfall. Obviously the lessons of the Taurus and Crown Vic was not studied by the higher ups at Daimler when they did this.
