This new Taurus looks like an Camry mated with a late 90's Chrysler Concord and threw on of those cheesey chrome side scoops on for good measure. Incorrect answer. Unless you are my age, you do not recall or remember the Newsweek articles and the "scientific facts" that we were heading towards a global cooling in the late 70's - early 80's. We talked about this in high school science class at the time. As for my opinions on the Challenger - those are my opinions. I have to wait see the '10 Mustang in person but right now, if I were in the market, the Challanger would be pretty tempting. But that will last a few years and then the Mustang will once again probably not have any more competition. :shades:

Well, the LX cars are getting long in the tooth. But they still fulfill a niche that GM and Ford abandoned and are still the top sellers in that retail market. The Mustang - that is a silly question. Even tho the Challenger is probably the better of the two, the Mustang, as always, will survive. :shades:

Al Gore's Town Car sat outside the Moscone Center in San Francisco this past year running, with the AC on so his family would be comfortable when he finished his speech. So we have a Town Car running during a two hour appearance, while his home in Tenesssee is "less green" than the Bush ranch in Texas and this is being called a slam against Dems? It's actually called reality. P.S. - I am stil waiting on the Global Cooling we were warned about when I was a senior in the early 80's/

One of the best selling cars in 2004 = the 300 One of the best selling in 2005 = the Mustang. Sounds to me like The Big Three were giving people what they wanted. And then Al Gore pretends he is the earths weatherman and all the sudden it's "OMG - we don't drive a Prius like Gore's son does outside of San Diego at over 100 mph with pot in the car so we must be bad." Meantime, the President-Elect Messiah is riding about in a GMC Yukon. Sounds to me like they were building the cars/trucks people wanted.

The thing that gripes my butt is this whole mantra that the Big Three "Didn't Build Cars That People Wanted." HELOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They built EXACTLY the cars people wanted - SUV's and big friggin engined cars. The same SUV's that Pelosi, Reid and The President, et al. ride about in. The 300C that the Messiah Obama owned until he bought an Escape Hybrid. And then they complain about the auto execs taking private planes to Washington - yet Pelosi's 737 was not big enough and she wanted the taxpayers to get her a 747? I have a very gas thirsty Thunderbird in my garage and 2 previous gas thirsty Mustang GT's because I wanted them - not the fuel efficient Escort and Focus options that were available at the time. :angry:

300, Charger, Challenger, Caravan, Wrangler, Ram. Viper is being discontinued anyway, I believe? That in itself is a better lineup than Mercury has. But it couldn't survive without a large parent corporation supporting it.

They have a few models that I would put up there with what Ford offers, and a few markets that fill a niche. But not enough to sustain itself over the long run.

Darn lack of a search feature. I wanted to bring back our lively discussion last summer about Ford dumping the Think and the comments of those who thought that was a good idea.

This is a market that has been saturated by the Jap market, so discounting people's attitude towards Chinese or Indian makes is not a good idea. Especially now that the market is now so "Gore Green." :rolleyes:

You sir are correct. The side-saddle tanks was indeed a bigger issue. However, Pinto will always be considered the biggest bonfire, thanks to the "Pinto Memo." Pinto, Edsel, Versaille = certain names that should never be resurrected.

I agree. I do not think Ford is immune from going under - but if they do, it will because of one of the other Big 3 going under. At this point that appears to be GM. But who knows? Three years ago the press was saying it would be Ford - then Chrysler, then Chrysler, then GM then Ford then Chrysler and now GM and now - who knows. I was talking to my dad today and we both agreed. We never would have ever thought we'd be talking about one of the Big 3 going under.

I had this whole thing to write out, but decided otherwise. Just google the terms Vallejo California and Bankruptcy to see why my sympathy with Gettlefinger are nil.

All a matter of stylistic opinion, of course. Personally I have always felt the interior of the '94-'04's was just about the best and personally, prefer it to the '05 +'s

PS - IMHO the '99-2004 updating of Mustang I thought sucked, even tho I owned one. The 2010 refresh I am somewhat excited about. :shades:
