busser
Hello folks... Just took delivery of a 08 model Expedition Eddie Bauer. Ford started selling here in Dubai (UAE) the 08 model 2 weeks ago. I love the car, its well build and drives like a limo. But, I have a question: Am I the only one that has a rattle in the headliner above the 2nd row seat? The 2nd day I drove the car I hear the rattle when going over some rough patches on the road. I fixed it (hopefully permanently) by wedging a piece of foam between the headliner and the roof. But what concerns me is that my 2005 did exactly the same thing, and I got it fixed the same way.... Is this a known problem that is not fixed, or am I just unlucky? Otherwise I am very happy and impressed with the car... what an improved ride compared with the previous 2005 model! Love the interior, love the auto rear-gate, rearview camera and the DVD system. Ford got it right with the Expedition! Ewald

Ewald Us 07/08 owners have plenty of minor complaints, I have not heard of a headliner rattle. Probably a clip or something loose. No biggy. Foam is the perfect solution, and probably what the dealer would have done. A question, do you have any wind noise coming from the driver side window at freeway speeds? No, I have no wind noise complaint. The driver side window is sealing very well, like the other windows; I took it up to 130km/h and wind noise was almost absent..... Besides the rattle I had in the headliner; no complaints at all. Fyi.... The build date is 07/07; perhaps that was a good month.....
micmay
No, I have no wind noise complaint. Fyi.... The build date is 07/07; perhaps that was a good month..... I've had my 07 EB Expy since March. Mine also had a headliner rattle that the dealer said was fixed with foam. I now have another rattle in the headliner right next to where the first rattle was. I'm probably one of the few, but I've had quite a few minor interior related issues. I'm at the point where I need to schedule a service appointment to get them all fixed. As of right now my interior list includes: headliner rattle #2, second row of seats is squeaking, rear window in lift gate leaks when it rains and lastly, the drivers side seat has developed a black streak on the edge of the seat where you slide across to get in. It's hard to describe but it looks like a black magic marker line that has gotten worse over time. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Expy..... Time will tell if these little problems continue to crop up. It's a lease vehicle so I'm not to worried about any of it.... Mike
bobbo
My 2008 Expy Eddie Bauer has no headliner issues. I have TV console; no sunroof. Fantastic vehicle.
BigWhiteExpyLtd08
Hi everyone, I have this rattle too, right behind the sunroof. I just took delivery of my custom ordered 08 TriCoat White 2WD Ltd in October and it just started getting that rattle within the last 2 weeks. It sounds like the air ducts are loose. I am taking the Expy in to have them finish rust proofing the passenger rear wheelwell and I will have them fix this too. BigWhiteExpyLtd08
Hows the wind noise at freeway speeds? I do not have any issues with wind noise. I was cruising today @ 75 MPH and I didn't have any sound of wind in the cabin. The rattle is scheduled to be fixed tomorrow, 11-29-07. My wife didn't hear it until I pointed it out to her now its driving her crazy, she has to drive with the radio volume UP now to drown out the rattle!!!! OT. I had the rustproofing of the rear wheelwells today.
911jason
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I have this same rattle in my 07 Expy EL, it's right behind the sunroof above the center 2nd row seat. What's the easiest way to insert foam into that location?

Buzzforbrains
Buzz - I have a 2007 EXPY Limited (~59k Miles) and have had driver side wind noise at freeway speeds. Not sure if it is the drivers door or rear passngr door. Maybe both....what has been your exprience? Any Fix? There is a TSB for the mirror to be replaced and it has helped some. FORD: 2007 Expedition LINCOLN: 2007 Navigator ISSUE: Some 2007 Expedition and Navigator vehicles built before 05/07/2007 may exhibit wind noise around the exterior driver and/or passenger doors. This may be most noticeable near the A-pillar area of the door. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE NOTE: IF THE VEHICLE BUILD DATE IS ON OR AFTER 5/07/2007, THIS TSB DOES NOT APPLY. CONTINUE WITH NORMAL WORKSHOP MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS. Tape the trailing edge of the mirror sail down to the front window glass from the tip of the mirror sail to the belt molding. If the noise goes away, replace the mirror on the effected side. Both mirrors do not have to be replaced. If the noise does not go away, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 diagnostics.
