  1. Exactly what I was looking for!!! Thanks for the help! Ewald
  2. Hi there, Just bought a new 2010 Edge for my wife. I would appreciate if someone could get me PDF with the information of the window sticker (the one that the factory sticks on the window with all the key information like mileage and included options). The Vin is: 2FMDK4KC9ABB78527 Thanks for the help!!! Ewald
  3. I had something similar, a rattle in the boot area of our 08 Mariner. It sounded like it came from the hatch or something in the rear door, but it was actually not the case. The rattle was caused by some dirt / sand between the spare wheel and the under body. On bad roads it caused a loud rattle noise that would appear to be coming from the rear hatch. After removing the spare wheel and cleaning the contact areas (spare wheel / under body), the rattle has disappeared forever. Tightening the spare wheel alone would not help... cleaning the tire and wheel well was the solution.
  4. Hi there, Just bought myself a 2010 Mustang GT in Kona Blue. Could anyone get me the build details of my car: VIN: 1ZVBP8CH6A5161300. Many thanks!!! Ewald
  5. This is sad news for me, but not unexpected. But somehow I was hoping that Mercury would stay and that Ford capitalizes on the brand. Mercury should be high-end interior and exterior, softer ride and largely based on Ford branded models. Much of it had watered away already... Making the brand die. There is a good market for these, but it was just not well addressed by Ford.
  6. As a loyal consumer that drives 25 years Ford, I noticed a "scary" change in the way Ford deals with warranty for the past year, I fully understand that warranty is a cost that should be minimized; but do this with quality improvements, not with cutting down on warranty approvals that are related to manufacturing defects. Something is not right if the consumer feels this; Ford needs to become more aware of this issue. I for sure love Ford's but I do have the feeling that Ford is trying to get out of each warranty claim by default rather than honoring it. Also now claims need to be approved prior to repair and that takes an additional 1 day (if approved) which I'm not used to. Still I love Fords; but for the first time in many years I be looking around for my next purchase.
  7. I have owned the Expedition 03 and 05 model, and bought them both new. The 05 was a huge improvement over the already good 03. I had non of the issues you listed on the03 or 05 model; the only issue I had was a rattle in the roof which was fixed with a piece of foam. I drove about 60K with the 05 EB and traded it with a 08....
  8. I got the car back from the shop, and the dealer did a perfect job; not a mark left. Had a look at the roof too, but all looks like it should; We only found a small welding spot in the paint, but it looks clean and does not need any fixing. Thanks again for the tips and support!
  9. Received a call from the dealer and the news was that the claim was rejected again, on basis that the metal was not perforated, and that the warranty conditions exclude these type of defects. This confirms my concern that Ford is rejecting responsibility for type of issues where the cause is a failed manufacturing process. I was expecting bumper to bumper warranty from Ford when buying this vehicle.... I have no doubt that the current saving mode has lead to less good will cases, but in the end it raises the question if excluding these defects from Warranty is a responsible dealing of Ford. If a first time customer of Ford would be faced with this; he/she would probably not buy again from Ford, and with that create a lot of negative promotion for Ford in his/her environment. In any case I'm really glad that I have a supportive & professional dealer (Al Tayer in Dubai) supporting me. They are standing behind the products they sell, and are going to repair the vehicle out of good will :-). And because this dealer saved me, I be looking to purchase a F150 from them this year, or next year :-) Thanks again for your responses and support! Ewald
  10. Thanks for the responses. The dealer appears quite helpful which is a good thing. They have advised that they will resubmit the claim to Ford and get back to me in a few days. I hope for a positive answer, but in case its not, I will take it up with the contacts mentioned in the warranty booklet. I will post back here with an update once the dealer comes back to me. But I try to understand what possibly Ford's criteria could be of rejecting such warranty claim? The oxidation bubbles under the paint are starting under the weatherstrip and are progressing way beyond the strip now, there is no external damage (which the dealer clearly indicated) until the weatherstrip was taken of at the dealership (paint pealed of the body exposing white oxidized aluminum). The condition of the body and car is 100% perfect. What could possibly lead to a rejection of such warranty claim?
  11. Hello all, hope I can get some advice here... Few week ago I found some bubbles under the paint right under the weather-strip of the tail window. Went to the dealer who removed the strip, and found several areas where oxidation is forming under the paint, and, and some areas where the paint is already damaged (some of it came off while pulling back the weather-strip). Dealer took some images and sent it to Ford to request approval to fix this under warranty. To our surprise it was rejected; even the dealer was surprised. Now, my vehicle is 2 years old, I bought it new from the dealer, is still in showroom condition, has 25K mile on it, and has all the warranties valid, 5 year body and mechanical warranty. I’m sure the damage is from inside and should be covered….. External reasons are also not possible; The climate is hot, their is no industry here (clean air), hardly any rain, and no salt on the road at all..... Does anyone has any suggestion on how to take this further? Thanks, Ewald
  12. Went to the dealer today (Sunday is a working day here:-) ) and had the TCM re-flashed... what an improvement! its perfect now; very smooth shift up and down... Thanks for the TSB reference!!! Ewald
  13. Interesting... I got the same problem with my 2008 Expedition with 25k miles on it, but only when the transmission is not at operating temperature yet. Mind you, In the UAE where I live, it does not get colder than 60F, and highest is at about 120F.... When I drive to work in the morning, the first 5 minutes I have the "bump in the back" too. But in addition, when cold, I have during the shift from 1 to 2 a split second that the engine revs jump up from 1500rpm to 2000rpm (like it moves into neutral before shifting to 2nd gear) and than shifts slowly into the 2nd gear, and the the revs reduce to 1500rpm again., After a few miles all goes to normal. Is this a known problem that can be fixed easily, or should I be worried? I have less than a year warranty left....Hope this is just an electronic issue that can be fixed easily...... I had no problems at all with this truck, and love the ride; but the symptom worries me.... I love the Expedition, and I'm very loyal to Ford for many years. I'm realy happy that Ford Company recovers so well!. Own 3 Ford vehicles right now. :-) (Mercury Mariner 2008, Ford Focus 2007 5 door Euro model (super!) and the 2008 Expedition)... and plan for an 2011 or 2012 Expedition :-) Thanks Ewald
  14. We have an 08 Mariner which has been perfect, except it also developed a rattle in the back at about 4K. I had to sit in the boot while my wife was driving to try to locate it the source; it was just nearly impossible to pinpoint it; it sounded it came from everywhere. In the end I also checked the spare wheel, and tighten it up; the problem stayed. After some more fruitless actions, I came back to the spare wheel and I removed it totally; drove without it to find that the rattle was gone! I cleaned the spare wheel housing, put some foam, and mounted it very tight. Since then the problem is gone (The car has done now about 8K)..... Maybe it helps....
  15. QCBOWL: I admire your patience; I hope someone can raise some attention to Ford about your case, because I’m sure they would attend. I run myself delivery operations for a US multinational IT company and your story is exactly the same we always want to avoid happening to a customer….I’m sure that if the right people at Ford are made aware of your case, something will be done to ensure your satisfaction and that they will work at producing a permanent fix. Perhaps I can call myself a very loyal Ford customer too; I loved the car my father drove when I lived in the Netherlands (Ford Taunes), and since I got my driving license I bought nothing else than Ford, and frankly enjoyed everyone of the many I owned… I also want this company to succeed and always tell many friends why they should buy Ford. But if I had an experience like you have; my loyalty would be tested big time…. All the best to you! Ewald
  16. Putting Lincolns in Volvo dealerships is worst thought ever. In Europe, Russia and the Middle East, the reputation of Lincoln is very very very bad..... That poor repuation has build up in several years due to building/delivering sub-standard cars compared to quality levels of premium brands in Europe. In the Middle East region where I reside, the Ford/lincoln brand is trying very hard to recover from poor quality image from several years ago.... Ford especially has great products now; but history is hunting them constantly; Customers do not forget easy!
  17. Success with the lemon law. Our '08 is holding up well and turned 1 year precisely today. It has 17000km on the clock and had no issues; it feels solid and enjoy driving this truck.....
  18. Its a weird world... Ford truck sales are up 35% here in Dubai according to Ford Middle East...
  19. Its now since May that we have the 2008 V6 Mariner in our household for my wife. Although there are a lot of Escapes here on the road for many years (Dubai), the Mariner we purchased was one of the first released in the UAE; and we where one of the first to drive it out the showroom. We are very happy with the car. The ride is very smooth, comfortable and noise levels are low (except road noise due to tire choice). The engine is smooth and refined and the gear shift (4 speed) is very smooth as well, even more smooth than my Expedition. On the other side, the acceleration is reasonable at best; it needs to be pushed hard at times. The interior is nice looking, very comfortable and it impresses our passengers; but the choice of some plastics are questionable and should never have left the factory (the silver bits) and scratches easily. I like driving the car and choose it far above the Japanese competitors on looks, ride quality and comfort. But there is one big concern I have with the way Ford has configured this car. It came with Goodyear Wrangler HP tires that are not only smaller than the one fitted in the US (215/70/17), they are also of temperature rating B. In our hot climate (50c) this temperature rating is not acceptable while it was configured especially for the region it was sold. Besides that, Goodyear Wrangler HP is noisy, and cheap tire and road noise levels do no good to the car. I hope Ford listens……
  20. I'm very happy with my 2008 Expedition and had no reliability issues. I bought the vehicle 11 months ago and I choose the Expedition over a Yukon. I did a lot of research between the Armada, Yukon and the Expedition. The reasons why I choose the Expedition where: the ride is more smooth and settled compared to both; the noise levels are lower, the 3rd row power seat, more interior space (especially in the back of the car) and the value for what you get. The rest is all subjective; I like the looks of the Expedition, but also the Yukon; but not the Armada. The Yukon has a little more power; but the ride is less refined; the reasons I listed before where my main decision factors to go for the Expedition…..
  21. I have an 08 Expedition EB. I do about 17Mpg average. In the morning about 30km highway driving, and in the evening 30 Km traffic jam driving. The ride is very smooth, extremely quiet, and very comfortable. I have no problems to report at all, except a small rattle I had in the roof liner on day one, which I fixed myself with some foam. Great car and it impresses everyone that rides with me. This was my 3rd Expedition; I noticed a real improvement in the 08 models compared with the previous one (2003, 2005). My excitement about today’s very good build quality made me buy a new Mariner for my wife, and traded the Volvo we had.....
  22. This is very much appreciated! Thank you! Ewald
  23. In 2 days I will receive the Mariner that I purchased for my wife. Its one from dealers stock so its already here in the UAE. I would like to know as much as possible information from the VIN number (Build date, installed options e.g.). Is it possible to sent the decoded information to me? Very much appreciatted! 4M2CU91158KJ36597 Ewald Busser
  24. New models arrive here in the UAE at least 6 months after the US release... that long we cannot wait. We like the drive right now; altough new models have always have improvements... When comparing the Escape or Mariner with a Nissan X-Trail, Honday CRV or Pajero 3.0; its much better equiped, more comfortable and much more power for the same price... If it was a month of 2; we would wait..... But thanks for the tip anyway!
