Moe Jiller
The search engine seem to be offline so this topic / question may already be active somewhere that I did not find. Here is the question: Is there discussion about the Flex engine choices being expanded near term - like MY2010? More HP, Diesel or otherwise? fordmantpw
EcoBoost 3.5 L should be available next year. Approximately 340 HP and 340 FT LBS says the rumor.
NickF1011
Hybrid should also be available not too far beyond that. Perhaps 2011.
spudz64
My guess is that the 2010 model with optional Ecoboost will be released way before the fall of 2009. Someone here already posted internal Job 1 dates for the new Taurus being April 27, 2009, and the 2010 Lincoln MKS also starts then. Both are gaining the Ecoboost too. So I bet the 2010 Flex with avail Ecoboost will enter production when the new 2010 Lincoln MKT starts, around June if not sooner. Ford has stated the Flex will receive Ecoboost early in the rollout so it makes sense. It also seems like Ford is looking to jump ahead to the 2010 model year as early as possible, with the Fusion, Taurus, Mustang, Milan, MKZ, MKS, and MKT all out by June 2009. 94ranger
What about an EB 2.4 or 2.5 I4. I seem to have brought this up before for the Mustang and Explorer. Why not use them in the Flex, and Taurus as well as the Edge, and Escape. It could be like the 302 was in the seventies and be available pretty much across the range.
