MKX rear seat belts

Everytime I have passengers in the rear seats of my 2008 MKX they complain that the seat belts lock in place and will not allow them to move. It is so bad that they end up releasing & re-latching the belt and having to hold the slack with one hand to allow some freedom of movement. Is this normal or do I have a problem with the seat belts?

That is normal - it happens when the seatbelt is pulled out all the way and is provided as a feature to lock down things like car seats, etc. If you don't pull the seatbelts out all the way they shouldn't do that - if they do get them checked.
